  • For commercial inner space, studies about brand communication and VMD to inform brand identity to customers are very important. Accordingly, the study conducted questionnaire survey about 'emotional reaction, brand recognition, brand communication and satisfaction on VMD expressional elements' of customers and brand-related personnel on the ZARA flagship store. Through analysis of difference of evaluation on surveyed items between customers and brand personnels, importance of direction of VMD design applying brand communication which can satisfy customers and application of brand communication was verified. Specific results of the research are as follows: First, comparing brand personnel's expectation of recognition of their brand from customers, substantial level of recognition of brand by customers was lower. It is necessary for improvement through consumer analysis in order to raise brand recognition. Second, as the result of analysis of emotional reaction on VMD, it needs to lead customers to positive emotional reaction close to the brand plan intention by inducing 'exciting and sensational' brand concept to emotional reactions through comprehensive VMD image management and leading to 'free and convenient' emotional reaction and then communications with customers and minimizing emotional differences. Third, for brand communication and creation of 'interest', intention of ZARA, it needs to get maximum communicative effects with 'young' VMD design. Fourth, for satisfaction survey on VMD expressional elements, customers was less satisfied than brand personnel. Accordingly, in order to raise customers' satisfaction, show windows, entry, mannequins and objets should be planned with priority and it should also satisfy customers through communications with customers including advertisement and marketing.

  • Various thoughts about the concept of space have brought a variety of paradigms to the trend. Just as existing information innovation applied activity and function of physical space for computers to overcome time and space limits, future space transplants intelligence to all the objects as organic whole in electronic and physical space by using IT technology to create emotional space. The most universal housing space in our living has had considerable changes in application of life style and technology. However, advanced technology space which corresponds to acceptance and desires of residents does not meet the needs and emotion of residents because of its limited network system. Therefore, it should be transformed into smart space which stimulates human emotion in the trend of advanced technology culture. As future residential space needs technological elements and design process which can stimulate human emotion, this study is to analyse it as a base of emotional design. This study aims to present characteristics of space image for space realization which meets the age of smart technology in terms of unifying smart space with emotional design, focusing on four future housing galleries shown by construction companies. First, the study speculated smart space in theory and classified characteristics and types of smart space into connectivity, sensitivity, reiteration and variability according to changes in space paradigm. Second, the study identified the background and main points emotional design appeared, analysed types of smart space based on characteristics of experimentation, connectivity and symbolism and speculated characteristics of emotional design in each type. In respect to characteristics of emotional design in smart space, organic connection and sensitivity are remarkably presented through experimentation and reiteration is presented through organic connection and experimentation, and variability through symbolism and experimentation.

  • This study is aimed to reflect the current status survey, analysis and response of 10 railway stations using geographical names in one of 19 stations located on Gyeongbu, Honam and Chungbuk line. Most railway stations in the study have shown normal images that are close to the standard type by selecting similar building materials rather than reflecting geographical features. Aside from the shape of the traditional Korean house in Cheongju, almost all newly constructed stations tend to incorporate light gray plating material on their modern exterior to produce Family look design as a railroad station. According to a survey of the sensitivity of the station's name, Osong Station was 73.6 percent, Gyeryong Station 67.3 percent, Heukseok-ri Station was 64.5 percent, Shintan-jin 62.6 percent, and Yeonsan Station 57 percent, more than half. Therefore, the results of the five stations were presented as a calculation and proposed design release focusing on the facades of each station. Each of these stations suggested a way to express the facade design image, considering the railway operation status of Korea Railroad, the area of the station and other surroundings.

  • The result of this study suggests that students' perception of service value is related to functional value with regard to need and satisfaction, epistemic value, image, emotional value, functional value with regard to price and quality, and social value. Specifically female students give less importance to epistemic value than their male counterparts. Students in the 2nd grade gave less favorable scores to the functional value with regard to need and satisfaction, epistemic value, image, emotional value and functional value with regard to price and quality than students in the 1st grade. Students in the night class gave less scores to epistemic value and functional value with regard to price and quality than students in the day class. It is confirmed that the difference between groups by the period in school is in functional value with regard to need and satisfaction, image, emotional value, and functional value with regard to price and quality. And it is also revealed that these results are similar to the results of analysis by the grade. In conclusion college operators should not overemphasize that the department of Hotel culinary arts occupies the leading position of the culinary academic world in Korea and the firms of food service industry positively evaluate the department of Hotel culinary arts, and in order to cope with the rapidly changing environment of the culinary education consistent investment constant changes and of efforts should not be stopped. On one hand the teaching staff of the department of Hotel culinary arts should reconsider their original role, and need behavior and practice to fill their deficiency with steady efforts in terms of students' perceived service value. • The CGI(Computer-generated Image) techniques provide designers with an effective means of creating design artifacts in an automatic way. It has been pointed that two important activities while applying the CGI techniques are both image generation and managemental issues for the generated images. By applying automatic generation techniques for creation of images, designers can acquire benefits in that they can produce free style results in a simple way. Along with such benefits, it is also important for designer to identify and to establish well defined mechanisms for storing vast quantity of auto-generated CGIs. However, it is problematic to assign key-words and to classify abstract images mainly because they lack an analogy of the real world entities. This paper presents classification scheme for the abstract CGIs by applying classification and description criteria from the viewpoint of both design elements and emotional elements. Effective classification and specification can help designers build and retrieve desired images in an easy way, and make management process more simple and effective.
