  • Video Stabilization For Vehicular Applications Is An Important Method Of Removing Unwanted Shaky Motions From Unstable Videos. In This Paper, An Improved Video Stabilization Method With Image Stitching Has Been Proposed. Scale Invariant Feature Transform (Sift) Matching Is Used To Calculate The New Position Of The Points In Next Frame. Image Stitching Is Done In Every Frame To Get Stabilized Frames To Provide Stable Video As Well As A Better Understanding Of The Previous Frame'S Position And Show The Surrounding Objects Together. The Computational Complexity Of Sift (Scale-Invariant Feature Transform) Is Reduced By Reducing The Sift Descriptors Size And Resticting The Number Of Keypints To Be Extracted. Also, A Modified Matching Procedure Is Proposed To Improve The Accuracy Of The Stabilization.

  • MPEG-7 Visual Standard specifies a set of descriptors that can be used to measure similarity in images or video. Among them, the Edge Histogram Descriptor describes edge distribution with a histogram based on local edge distribution in an image. Since the Edge Histogram Descriptor recommended for the MPEG-7 standard represents only local edge distribution in the image, the matching performance for image retrieval may not be satisfactory. This paper proposes the use of global and semi-local edge histograms generated directly from the local histogram bins to increase the matching performance. Then, the global, semi-global, and local histograms of images are combined to measure the image similarity and are compared with the MPEG-7 descriptor of the local-only histogram. Since we exploit the absolute location of the edge in the image as well as its global composition, the proposed matching method can retrieve semantically similar images. Experiments on MPEG-7 test images show that the proposed method yields better retrieval performance by an amount of 0.04 in ANMRR, which shows a significant difference in visual inspection.

  • This paper describes real time object tracking of 3D objects in 2D image sequences. The moving objects are segmented from the image sequence using morphological operations. The moving objects are segmented by the method of differential image followed by the process of morphological dilation. The moving objects are recognized and tracked using statistical moments. The direction of moving objects are determined by the Hough transform. The straight lines in the moving objects are found with the help of Hough transform. The direction of the moving object is calculated from the orientation of the straight lines in the direction of the principal axes of the moving objects. The direction of the moving object and the displacement of the object in the image sequence is used to calculate the velocity of the moving objects. The simulation results of the proposed method are promising on the test images.

  • Feature detection and description are key ingredients of common image processing and computer vision applications. Most existing algorithms focus on robust feature matching under challenging conditions, such as inplane rotations and scale changes. Consequently, they usually fail when the scene is blurred by camera shake or an object's motion. To solve this problem, we propose a new feature description algorithm that is robust to image blur and significantly improves the feature matching performance. The proposed algorithm builds a feature descriptor by considering the integral projection along four angular directions ($0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, and $135^{\circ}$) and by combining four projection vectors into a single highdimensional vector. Intensive experiment shows that the proposed descriptor outperforms existing descriptors for different types of blur caused by linear motion, nonlinear motion, and defocus. Furthermore, the proposed descriptor is robust to intensity changes and image rotation.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the visual effects of clothing design. The specific objectives were: 1) to develop a clothing design evaluation instrument using semantic differential scales for the purpose of measuring visual responses with clothing design: 2) to identify the factor structure of the clothing design evaluation instrument: 3) to test the differences of perception to the clothing design depending on sex and knowledge about clothing design. The major findings were: 1. 37 pairs of descriptors of clothing form were found to include five factor dimensions (total variance:62.1%). Five major factors were found: attractiveness, practicability, elegance, comfort, hardness and softness. 2. for the visual evaluation of silhouettes, there were significant differences. H-line was explained by the simple image. A-line was explained by the comfortable image. V-line was explained by the mature and refined image. X-line was explained by the attractive and femine image and evaluated positively. 3. For the visual evaluation of observers, there were partly significant differences depending on sex and knowledge about clothing design in the observers' responses. But there were greater differences depending on sex than knowledge about clothing design in the observers' responses.

  • Few studies have been systematically pursued on a multimedia data mining in despite of the over-whelming amounts of multimedia data by the development of computer capacity, storage technology and Internet. Based on the preliminary image processing and content-based image retrieval technology, this paper presents the methods for discovering association rules from recurrent items with spatial relationships in huge data repositories. Furthermore, multimedia mining algorithm is proposed to find implicit association rules among objects of which content-based descriptors such as color, texture, shape and etc. are recurrent and of which descriptors have spatial relationships. The algorithm with recurrent items in images shows high efficiency to find set of frequent items as compared to the Apriori algorithm. The multimedia association-rules algorithm is specially effective when the collection of images is homogeneous and it can be applied to many multimedia-related application fields.

  • Face detection refers to the process extracting facial regions in an input image, which can improve speed and accuracy of recognition or authorization system, and has diverse applicability. Since conventional works have tried to detect faces based on the whole shape of faces, its detection performance can be degraded by occlusion made with accessories or parts of body. In this paper we propose a method combining local feature descriptors and probability modeling in order to detect partially occluded face effectively. In training stage, we represent an image as a set of local feature descriptors and estimate a statistical model for normal faces. When the test image is given, we find a region that is most similar to face using our face model constructed in training stage. According to experimental results with benchmark data set, we confirmed the effect of proposed method on detecting partially occluded face.

  • In this paper, we present a novel method for local image descriptor called exact order based descriptor (EOD) which is robust to illumination changes and Gaussian noise. Exact orders of image patch is induced by changing discrete intensity value into k-dimensional continuous vector to resolve the ambiguity of ordering for same intensity pixel value. EOD is generated from overall distribution of exact orders in the patch. The proposed local descriptor is compared with several state-of-the-art descriptors over a number of images. Experimental results show that the proposed method outperforms many state-of-the-art descriptors in the presence of illumination changes, blur and viewpoint change. Also, the proposed method can be used for many computer vision applications such as face recognition, texture recognition and image analysis.

  • This paper proposes a skeleton-based hierarchical shape description scheme, called a skeleton tree, for accurate shape-based image retrieval. A skeleton tree represents an object shape as a hierarchical tree where high-level nodes describe parts of coarse trunk regions and low-level nodes describe fine details of boundary regions. Each node refines the shape of its parent node. Most of the noise disturbances are limited to bottom level nodes and the boundary noise is reduced by decreasing weights on the bottom levels. The similarity of two skeleton trees is computed by considering the best match of a skeleton tree to a sub-tree of another skeleton tree. The proposed method uses a hybrid similarity measure by employing both Fourier descriptors and moment invariants in computing the similarity of two skeleton trees. Several experimental results are presented demonstrating the validity of the skeleton tree scheme for the shape description and indexing.
