건축디자인과정에서 문제해결의 특성에 관한 연구 (A study on the characteristic of problem solving process in the architectural design process)

  • In creative design, it is necessary to understand the characteristic of architectural design. In the world of design problem, a distinction can be made between those that are well-defined and those that are ill-defined. Well-defined problems are those for which the ends or goal, are already prescribed and apparent, their solution requires the provision of appropriate means. For ill-defined problems, on the other hand, both the ends and the means of solution are unknown at the outset of the problem solving exercise, at least in their entirety. Most of design problems is ill-defined, which is unknown at the beginning of the problem solving exercise. In order to solve the design problem, Designers take advantage of the search methods of problem space, such as global-search-methods(depth-first-methods, breath-first-methods), local-search-methods(generate and test, heuristics, hill-climbing, reasoning) and visual thinking, which is represented through sketching. Sketching is a real part of design reasoning and it does so through a special kind of visual imagery. Also in the design problem solving it have been an important means of problem exploration and solution generation. By sketching, they represent images held in the mind as well as makes graphic images which help generate mental images of entity that is being designed. The search methods of problem space and a visual thinking have been crucially considered in the architectural design. The purpose of this paper is to explore the property of design by means of the pre-existed-experiment data and literature research. The findings will help design the architectural design for more creative results.

  • In order to cope with the ill-defined problem of human behavior being immanent uncertainty, several methodologies have been studied in game theoretic, social psychological and political science frameworks. As methods to arrange system elements systematically and draw out the consenting structural model concretively, ISM, FSM and DEMATEL based on graph theory etc. have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a modified structural modeling method to recognize the nature of problem. We introduce the statistical method to adjust the establishment levels in group decision situation. From this, it will become possible to obtain effectively and smoothly the structural model of group members in comparison with the traditional methods. Further we propose a procedure for achieving the consenting structural model of group members based on the structural modeling method. By applying the method to recognize the nature of ill-defined problems, it will be possible to solve the given problem effectively and rationally. In order to inspect the effectiveness of the method, we conduct a practical problem as an empirical study: "Behavior analysis of passengers for the Joban line of East Japan Railway Company after new railway service of Tsukuba Express opened".

비구조화된 문제 상황에서 이공계 대학생들의 문제발견 과정 및 문제발견에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Problem-Finding Process and Effect Factor by University Students in an Ill-Structured Problem Situation)

  • 우리나라 과학과 교육과정에서 문제해결력이 중요함을 강조하고 있다. 과학 교육에서 문제해결력에 대한 많은 연구가 이루어져왔다. 이러한 연구들은 잘 정의된 문제, 구조화된 문제를 대상으로 연구하였기 때문에, 빈약하게 정의된 문제, 비구조화된 문제의 해결과정에 대한 연구가 더 이루어져야 한다는 지적을 받았다. 비구조화된 문제는 전체적인 목표는 존재하지만, 제공되는 정보가 적거나 거의 없는 상황이므로, 비구조화된 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 반드시 문제발견이 선행되어야 한다. 그리고 비구조화된 상황에서 문제발견은 창의성과 관련되기 때문에, 창의적 문제해결력을 향상시키기 위해 비구조화된 문제발견을 학습할 필요가 있다. 과학 영역에서 비구조화된 문제발견에 대해, 교실현장에 구체적으로 도움이 될 수 있는 가이드를 만들기 위해서, 비구조화된 상황에서 과학적 문제발견 과정에 대한 경험적 연구가 필요하다. 이 연구에서는 이공계 대학생 32명을 대상으로, 면담을 통해서 실제로 비구조화된 상황에서 과학적 문제발견 과정과, 그 과정에 영향을 준 요소가 무엇인지 알아보았다. 비구조화된 문제 상황에서 학생들의 문제발견 과정은, 문제와 관련된 단서나 잠정적 해결책을 염두에 두고, 정보를 검색한 후 몇 가지 선별 기준에 따라서 검색된 정보를 선별하여 문제를 발견하는 것으로 이루어졌다. 학생들의 문제발견에 영향을 미친 요인은 먼저, 문제에 관한 단서를 떠올리는데 전공 수업과 영화, 소설 등 학생의 경험이 영향을 미쳤다. 문제해결자의 문제 관련 배경 지식이 잠정적 해결책에 영향을 미쳤고, 검색한 정보를 선별하는 선별 기준으로 정보의 신뢰도, 정보의 출처, 내용 적합성, 이해 가능성, 주제와 관련성, 언급된 회수가 사용되었다. 그런데 연구에 참여한 대학생들이 제시한 정보선별 기준이 타당한지, 중등학교 현장에서 교사가 안내할 가치가 있는지, 학습에 도움이 되는지 여부는 알 수 없으므로 이에 대해서는 추가 연구가 필요하다. 연구에 참여한 대학생들은 개연성 있는 모델을 만들기 위해, 문제를 명료화할 때 가정을 사용하였다. 가능한 모든 변수를 포함한 문제를 해결하는 것은 현실적으로 불가능하기 때문에, 가정을 사용해서 불필요한 요소를 배제하는 접근법은 적절한 전략이라고 생각된다. 따라서, 중등학교 현장에서 교사는 학생들에게 비구조화된 상황에서 문제를 발견할 때 적절한 가정을 사용함으로써 문제를 명료화할 수 있다는 점을 알려 줄 수 있을 것이다.

  • An approach to identifying input forces is proposed using measured structural dynamic responses and its analytical model. The identification of input forces is a reverse process and ill-conditioned problem. Its solution is unstable and generally case dependent. In this paper, the ill-condition is described considering characteristic matrix which is defined by reduced dynamic stiffness matrix. Special attention is focused on the condition number of a characteristic matrix used in the solution algorithm of this reverse process. Simple example is presented in support of the ill-condition of a reverse process.

한국의학교육의 새로운 과제: 불확실성이 큰 문제상황에 대처하는 능력의 강화 (New Challenges for Korean Medical Education: Enhancing Students' Abilities to Deal with Uncertain Ill-Defined Problems)

  • Over the last century, medical education in North America has evolved by identifying educational challenges within its own socio-cultural context and by appropriately responding to these challenges. A discipline-based curriculum, organ-system or integrated curriculum, problem-based curriculum, and competency-based curriculum are historical examples of the educational solutions that have been developed and refined to address specific educational challenges, such as students' lack of basic scientific knowledge, lack of integration between scientific knowledge and clinical practice, and lack of clinical practice. In contrast, Korean medical education has evolved with the influence of two forces: (1) the adoption of educational solutions developed in North America by pioneers who have identified urgent needs for medical education reform in Korea over the last three decades, and (2) the revitalization of Korean medical schools' curricula through medical education accreditation and national medical licensing examination. Despite this progressive evolution in Korean medical education, we contend that it faces two major challenges in order to advance to the next level. First, Korean medical education should identify its own problems in medical education and iteratively develop educational solutions within its own socio-cultural context. Secondly, to raise reflective doctors who have scientific knowledge and professional commitment to deal with different types of medical problems within a continuum from well-defined to ill-defined, medical education should develop innovative ways to provide students with a balanced spectrum of clinical problems, including uncertain, ill-defined problems.

온라인 학습에서 비구조화된 문제에 대한 해결된 예제 효과 (The Worked Example Effect using Ill-defined Problems in On-line Learning : Focus on the Components of a Worked Example)

  • This study has two goals. The first goal is to investigate whether worked examples are effective in the ill-defined domain with on-line learning and the second goal is to find out which components (conceptual or procedural knowledge) of worked examples are effective factor at the given learning environment. We carried out three experiments in which Korean undergraduate or graduate students were working in three or four conditions of worked examples (CWE, PWE, CPWE, or the control group). While experiment 1 conducted in on-line learning environment did not find any effect and difference among groups and also any logical reason for those results, experiment 2 conducted in completely controlled laboratory setting with less knowledgeable students showed the clear difference among groups by the order CPWE, PWE, and CWE. Experiment 3 in which highly knowledgeable and motivated students were presented the same materials in more controlled on-line learning environment indicated the difference among groups by the order CWE, CPWE, and PWE. The results were discussed within the framework of cognitive load theory.

  • In this paper, we provide a Nash solution to predictive control problem for nonminimum phase singular nonlinear systems. Until now, there is no result on predictive control problem for this class of nonlinear systems. Chen's recent work considered predictive control problem for a class of nonlinear systems with ill-defined relative degree.   • A common language for modeling software requirements and design in recent years is Unified Modeling Language (UML). Essential principles and rules are provided by UML to help visualize and comprehend complex software systems. It has therefore been incorporated into the curriculum for software engineering courses at several institutions all around the world. However, it is commonly recognized that UML is challenging for beginners to understand, mostly owing to its complexity and ill-defined nature. It is unavoidable that we need to comprehend their preferences and issues considerably better than we do presently to approach the problem of teaching UML to beginner students in an acceptable manner. This paper offers a hint-based approach that can be implemented along with an ordinary lab task. Some keywords are highlighted to indicate class diagram components and make students understand the textual descriptions. The experimental results indicate significant improvement in students' learning skills. Furthermore, the majority of students also positively responded to the survey conducted in the end experimental study.

  • 본 연구에서는 문헌을 통해 과학 창의성의 구성요소를 밝히고 창의성 계발 교육에 중요성을 두고 있는 영재 교육과정을 분석하여 과학 창의성 계발을 위한 프로그램을 개발하였다. 문헌연구를 통하여 본 연구에서는 과학 창의성을 특수한 문제(특히 잘 정의되지 않은 문제) 해결의 과정 또는 새로운 문제의 발견으로 보았다. 과학 창의성이 발현되는 중요 요소로서 과학지식, 과정지식, 확산적/비판적 사고, 문제의 종류, 문제의 발견력을 제시하였다. 과학 창의성 계발을 위해 3단계의 구분된 교수-학습 모형을 제시하였다. 1단계는 주제의 도입단계, 2단계는 소규모 과정 훈련단계 그리고 3단계는 실제문제를 해결하는 독립연구단계로 구성된다. 본 연구에서 개발된 프로그램은 지구과학영역에서 4개 주제 15차시 분량이다. 본 연구의 프로그램 개발과정과 산출물뿐만 아니라 프로그램의 특징, 운영 시 문제점들이 논의되었다.
