A QoS Aware multi-layer MAC(QAML-MAC) Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks (무선센서네트워크에서 QoS 지원을 위한 다중계층 MAC 프로토콜)

  • In this paper, we propose an QoS aware multi-layer MAC(QAML-MAC) protocol in a wireless sensor networks. Since the proposed protocol is based on the sleep-awake architecture, which save node's energy to prolong the entire network lifetime. For this purpose the QAML-MAC first classifies incoming data according to their transmission urgency and then saves them. The protocol also adapts the cross-layer concept to re-arrange the order of transmission with the same destination. So the delay can be decreased, which can not be obtained with the previous related protocols. And high priority data such as real-time multimedia or critical value in the field monitoring applications can be transmitted quickly, Furthermore the proposed protocol has advantage of decreasing transmitted data collisions using multiple layers of idle listening when there is no high-priority data. So energy consumptions of sensor nodes can be saved and the network lifetime can be prolonged.

Study for Failure Examples of Injector, Idle Speed Actuator and Gasket in LPi System Vehicle (LPi 시스템 자동차의 인젝터, 공회전 액추에이터 및 개스킷 고장사례 연구)

  • The purpose of this paper studies the failure cases including with system of liquefied phase injection in liquified petroleum gas vehicle. The first case, resulting with inspection the injector of LPG, it occasionally certified the injection damage phenomenon that the fuel efficiency(km/l) was decreased to 5% by carbon deposit with injector hole when the driver operates the vehicle. The second case, it certified the interference phenomenon of air flow with carbon deposit in ISA system control for idle speed of engine and throttle body suppling air into engine. As a result, the fuel efficiency was decreased 7%. The third case, the outer air during intake stroke was intermittently flowed in this gasket gap because of weaken adhesion power phenomenon for cylinder block by intake manifold gasket tearing. Consequentially, it certified the decrease for fuel efficiency to 3% by risen the amount of fuel injection as the air inflow quantity. These failure examples reduced the power performance of engine and the fuel efficiency of vehicle. It have to minimize of failure phenomenon preparing through quality management.

Fault Diagnosis of Roll Shape Under the Speed Variation in Hot Rolling Mill

  • The metal processing system usually consists of various components such like motors, work rolls, backup rolls, idle rolls, sensors, etc. Even a simple fault in a single component in the system may cause a serious damage on the final product. It is therefore necessary to diagnose the faults of the components to detect and prevent system failure. Especially, the defects in a work roll are critical to the quality of strip. It is especially difficult to detect faults of a roll by using the existing frequency analysis method if the speed of the roll is changing. In this study, a new diagnosis method for roll eccentricity under the roll speed changes was developed. The new method was induced from analyzing the rolling mechanism by using rolling force models, radius-speed relationship, and measured rolling force, etc. Simulation results by using the field data show that the proposed method is very useful.

  • 무선 랜 표준인 IEEE 802.11은 원래 best effort service를 위해 탄생된 기술이기 때문에 QoS(Quality of Service)에 대한 연구가 부족했다. 무선 랜에서는 기존 유선 랜보다 한정된 자원과 희박한 bandwidth, 다양한 노드들의 채널 공유로 인해 QoS를 보장하기가 어렵다. 이를 보완하기 위한 연구가 IEEE 802.11e 워킹그룹에서 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 충돌방지를 위한 CSMA/CA 알고리즘의 back-off값 설정을 매개변수를 두어 idle 시간을 조정함으로써 QoS를 보장하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 특히, QoS가 요구하는 패킷전달 간격 임계값(threshold)에 따른 매개변수를 조절하여 contention window 크기를 달리 조정함으로써 QoS를 요구하는 노드들의 수에 상관없이 균일한 서비스 성능을 유지하도록 한다. 이 때, 매개변수 값의 선택은 QoS를 제공하는 노드들의 서비스 성능 뿐 아니라 best effort service만을 제공해도 되는 일반 노드들의 서비스 성능도 함께 고려할 수 있도록 하였다.

Extraordinary State Classification of Grinding Wheel Surface Based on Gray-level Run Lengths (명암도 작용 길이에 따른 연삭 숫돌면의 이상 현상 분류)

  • The grinding process plays a key role which decides the quality of a product finally. But the grinding process is very irregular, so it is very difficult to analyse the process accurately. Therefore it is very important in the aspect of precision and automation to reduce the idle time and to decide the proper dressing time by watching. In this study, we choose the method which can be observed directly by using of computer vision and then apply pattern classification technique to the method of measuring the wheel surface. Pattern classification technique is proper to analyse complicated surface image. We observe the change of the wheel surface by using of the gray level run lengths which are representative in this technique.

  • 본 논문은 자동변속기를 탑재한 차량에서 에어콘(air condition)을 작동시키고, 공 회전시 기어의 변속을 "D"단에 두었을 때 실내에서 발생하는 이상음의 원인규명 및 해결 방 법에 관한 연구 결과를 논하고자 한다. 이 이상한 소음의 원인을 규명하기 위하여 실린더 내부의 연소압력, 메인 베어링캡(main bearing cap)의 진동, 엔진 마운팅 보스의 진동 및 차 량의 실내소음을 동시에 측정하여 분석하였으며 이 결과에 의하면 이상음의 원인은 크랭크 샤프트(crank shaft)의 굽힘진동이 파워플랜트(power plant)를 가진하여 진동을 증가시키고, 이 진동이 마운팅 보스를 통하여 차량의 차체에 전달되며, 차체의 진동에 의해서 발생하는 고체 전달음(structure-borne noise)이었다. 또한 이상음의 주기는 주파수 성분은 200-400Hz 이었다. 이 이상음은 크랭크 샤프트의 댐퍼 풀리의 질량을 저감하여 크랭크 샤프트의 동특 성을 개선함으로서 해결가능하고, 혹은 점화시기를 지연하여 연소 압력을 낮춤으로서 해결 가능하다.

A distributed QoS system for cluster based web server systems (클러스터 기반 웹 서버에서의 분산 QoS)

  • This paper introduces a new distributed QoS (Quality of Service) control system for clusters of web servers. The proposed system can employ not only network bandwidth but also other metrics such as processor load, memory usage, and storage access load that affect the overall system performance. Moreover, it controls over clustered\ulcorner workstations in of-der to utilize idle resources among workstations. This architecture maximizes overall usage of cluster of web servers while it provides predictable and differentiated performance for each contents volume. We implemented a prototype of introduced system, and the test results showed the proposed method can control QoS in a cluster server system.

A Study on the Fault Diagnosis of the 3-D Roll Shape in Cold Rolling

It is, therefore, necessary to diagnose the faults of the components to detect and prevent a system failure. Especially, the defects in a work roll are critical to the quality of strip. In this study, a new 3-D diagnosis method was developed for roll shape defects in rolling processes. The new method was induced from analyzing the rolling mechanism by using a rolling force model, a tension model, the Hitchcock's equation, and measurement of the strip thickness, etc. Computer simulation shows that the proposed method is very useful in the diagnosis of the 3-D roll shape.

CB-Sense: High Throughput Cross-technology Communication via IEEE 802.11 Idle Time (IEEE 802.11의 유휴 시간을 활용한 이기종 통신 기술의 처리량 향상 방법)

  • This paper proposes a novel CTC technology, CB-sense. The CB-sense guarantees a dedicated period for the CTC that results in low duty cycle of the receiver device. In addition, it send a lot of information explosively during the dedicated CTC period. Thus, it can achieve high throughput. The CB-sense uses Clear to Send (CTS) packets to transmit information bits to the heterogeneous wireless technologies. The CTS packets block the neighboring node transmissions, so it reduces co-channel interference. In experiment results, CB-sense represents 20 times more throughput than FreeBee and below 5% symbol error rate in the interference environment.
