Newly recorded sea star Henricia oculata(Asteroidea: Spinulosida: Echinasteridae) in the East Sea, Korea

  • Henricia specimens were collected using fishing nets from the East Sea of Korea. The specimens were identified as Henricia oculata Pennant, 1777, belonging to the family Echinasteridae of the order Spinulosida. This species can be distinguished from other Henricia species by broad arms (R/r=4-4.1), rough skin, a thick arm base, three to nine minute delicate abactinal spines, and inferomarginal plates reniform in shape. This species superficially resembles H. pachyderma in its body size and wide papular areas but differs mainly in the number of papulae and abactinal spines, and the shape and arrangement of the inferomarginal plates. To date, two genera of Echinasteridae, Aleutihenricia and Henricia, with a total of 13 species, have been reported in Korea. The morphological characteristics of H. oculata are described, and photographs are provided.

Community structure of marine benthic invertebrates recruited on artificial substrates in the Korean coast

  • In this study, the community structure of marine benthic invertebrates was examined to evaluate the differences between the west, south, and east coasts of Korea and to identify the indicator species representing each region. Acrylic attachment plate sets were installed in Jeongok, Mokpo, Tongyeong, Yangpo, and Gangreung, and the invertebrate fauna thus captured were identified. Monitoring was performed in each area from March 2017 to May 2018. Water depth, temperature, and salinity at each location were measured to determine the potential influence of abiotic factors on the community structure. As a result, the mean depth of plates installed and the water temperature were significantly different in each area. A total of 32 invertebrate species were identified in all localities, and the most significant difference in the species compositions was found between Mokpo and Gangreung. The community structure differed significantly with a change in the plate depth, and a larger number of indicator species appeared on shallower plates. Finally, we determined the community structure of benthic invertebrates in different geographical regions of the Korean ocean by characterizing the dominant invertebrate taxa and the indicator species at each site.

A Newly Recorded Sea Star of Genus Aleutihenricia (Asteroidea: Spinulosida: Echinasteridae) from the East Sea, Korea

  • An asteroid specimen was collected by using a fishing net from the waters near Daejin harbor, in the East Sea of Korea on 3 Mar 2017. Based on morphological characteristics, the specimen was identified as Aleutihenricia beringiana (Djakonov, 1950), belonging to the family Echinasteridae, of the order Spinulosida. The genus Aleutihenricia was first described by Clark and Jewett, 2010. This species can be distinguished from other Aleutihenricia species by having a roundish protruding shape of abactinal and actinal plates, the number of abactinal spines bearing three to eight spinelets, and the number of adambulacral spines comprising six to eight spinelets. This is the first report of the genus Aleutihenricia and A. beringiana in Korea.

태양에너지학회 논문집의 풍력에너지 연구동향 분석 (Review of Trends in Wind Energy Research Publications in Journal of the Korean Solar Energy Society)

  • The Journal of the Korean Solar Energy Society is the first journal in South Korea that adopts wind energy as one of its subjects. Since 2000, more than 140 papers on wind energy have been published in the journal, which accounts for 8.5% of the total publication. However, in recent years, the number of published papers on wind energy has been decreasing steadily, and a reason for this decline is the significant dependence on a few specific institutions and authors. In this study, wind energy subjects were classified using the frequency analysis of the subject words extracted from the title, keywords, and abstract of wind energy papers using the text mining technique. In addition, the Korea Citation Index was used to perform quantitative level evaluation by subject and institution and to analyze the trends and characteristics of the wind energy field. Therefore, it was identified that in terms of the number of publications and citations, the main subject areas were resource/micrositing and policy/potential.

아시아문화정보원의 문화자원 분류체계 연구 (A Study on the Classification Scheme of Cultural Resource in ACIA)

  • 이 연구는 국립아시아문화전당 아시아문화정보원의 수집대상 문화자원을 효율적으로 관리하기 위한 분류체계를 제시하기 위하여 시도되었다. 아시아문화정보원의 목적과 수집정책 방향을 알아보고 문화자원의 특성과 범주를 파악하였다. 그리고 현재 실제로 사용하고 있는 HRAF 분류체계, UNESCO 문화지표, 민속아카이브의 분류검색, 한국향토문화전자대전의 콘텐츠목차 등 4개의 분류체계를 비교분석하였다. 이를 토대로 아시아정보원의 문화자원 분류체계의 원칙과 기준을 제시하고, 분류체계의 주제 전개는 문화적, 사회적, 자연적 영역 순으로 전개하였고, 주류는 16개의 항목으로 설정되었다.

노루오줌으로부터 Bergenin의 함량 분석 및 에탄올 추출물의 자궁경부암세포 성장 억제 효과 (Quantitative Analysis of Bergenin in Astilbe rubra and Growth Inhibition Effect of Ethanol Extract on Hela Cells)

  • Astilbe rubra (AR) is a perennial, belongs to the Saxifragaceae family, it contains tannin and triterpene. AR has been used in republic korea to improve toxication, fever, pain and convulsion. Recently, number of natural products have been analyzed for potential pharmacological activities including anti-cancer, anti-obesity and anti-diabetic medication. Consequently, we investigated the growth inhibition effect of Astilbe rubra water extract (WAC), ethanol extract (EAC) and bergenin on Hela cell (human adenocarcinoma cell). From whole plant of A. rubra, bergenin was isolated by column chromatography and its structures were identified by $^1H$, $^{13}C$ NMR and IT TOF-ESI MS. High extraction efficiency of bergenin was shown at 0.95% under 60 min reflux extraction with 50% MeOH. The MTS assay showed that EAC (ethanol extract) treatment increased cell death in a dose-dependent manner. Moreover, EAC treatment on Hela cell increased apoptotic cell death and caspase-3 activity. Results suggest that EAC has growth inhibition effect on Hela cells, but not WAC and bergenin. $500{\mu}g/mL$ EAC treatment inhibited Hela cell at $60.2{\pm}1.5%$.

A Predictive Virtual Machine Placement in Decentralized Cloud using Blockchain

  • Host's data during transmission. Data tempering results in loss of host's sensitive information, which includes number of VM, storage availability, and other information. In the distributed cloud environment, each server (computing server (CS)) configured with Local Resource Monitors (LRMs) which runs independently and performs Virtual Machine (VM) migrations to nearby servers. Approaches like predictive VM migration [21] [22] by each server considering nearby server's CPU usage, roatative decision making capacity [21] among the servers in distributed cloud environment has been proposed. This approaches usage underlying server's computing power for predicting own server's future resource utilization and nearby server's resource usage computation. It results in running VM and its running application to remain in waiting state for computing power. In order to reduce this, a decentralized decision making hybrid model for VM migration need to be proposed where servers in decentralized cloud receives, future resource usage by analytical computing system and takes decision for migrating VM to its neighbor servers. Host's in the decentralized cloud shares, their detail with peer servers after fixed interval, this results in chance to tempering messages that would be exchanged in between HC and CH. At the same time, it reduces chance of over utilization of peer servers, caused due to compromised host. This paper discusses, an roatative decisive (RD) approach for VM migration among peer computing servers (CS) in decentralized cloud environment, preserving confidentiality and integrity of the host's data. Experimental result shows that, the proposed predictive VM migration approach reduces extra VM migration caused due over utilization of identified servers and reduces number of active servers in greater extent, and ensures confidentiality and integrity of peer host's data.

ERP-Enterprise Resource Planning: System Selection Process and Implementation Assessment

  • Enterprise Resource Planning(ERP) systems offer pervasive business functionality the applications encompass virtually all aspects of the business. Understanding and managing this pervasiveness will result in a successful and productive business application platform. Because of this pervasiveness, implementations have ranged from great successes to complete failures. This article has two distinctive parts. The first proposes and discusses a systematic process based on consulting experiences of LG CNS (leading information system company in Korea) for ERP selection. Also, the second provides the key factors that are critical to the successful implementation of ERP. The second part reports the results of a study carried out to assess a number of different ERP implementations in different organizations. A case study method of investigation was used, and the experiences of five Korean manufacturing companies were documented. The critical factors in the adoption of ERP are identified as: learning from the experiences of others, appointment of a process innovator, establishment of committees and project teams, training and technical support for the users, and appropriate changes to the organizational structure and managerial responsibilities.

A new record of a sea star, Henricia aspera Fisher, 1906 (Asteroidea: Spinulosida: Echinasteridae) from Jeju Island, Korea

  • A specimen of Henricia was collected from the adjacent waters of Moseulpo, Jeju Island, Korea, using fishing nets. The specimen was identified as Henricia aspera Fisher, 1906, which belongs to the family Echinasteridae of the order Spinulosida. This species can be distinguished from other Henricia species by its broad arms (R/r=4.1), swollen arm base, three to seven short abactinal spines, and close-meshed formation of the actinal skeleton. This study has newly recorded H. aspera inhabiting the Korean fauna, bringing the total number of known Henricia species in Korea to 16. This study provides a description of the morphological characteristics of H. aspera with photographs of each part. Additionally, a table is presented that compares the morphological characteristics of H. aspera with closely related Henricia species.

동강유역 생태·경관보전지역의 관속식물 (Floristic Characteristics of Vascular Plants in the Dong-gang River Basin Ecological and Scenery Conservation Area)

  • 보호지역에서 적절한 보전과 관리를 수행하기 위해서는 기초 정보의 확보는 필수적이다. 뿐만 아니라 각각의 조사결과를 비교하여 평가할 수 있어야 한다. 본 연구에서는 비교 가능한 정보 확보를 위해 7개의 격자를 설정하고 정밀조사를 수행하였다. 총 16회의 조사를 통해 127과 408속 716종 10아종 88변종 16품종 830분류군이 정리되었다. 중점조사지역 6번에서 가장 많은 487분류군이 조사되었고 다음으로는 중점조사지역 4번에서 457분류군이 조사되었다. 환경부 지정 멸종위기야생식물은 6분류군이 조사되었고 관찰종으로 1분류군이 조사되었다. 한국고유종으로는 총 23분류군이 조사되었다. 식물구계학적특정식물은 V등급이 15분류군, IV등급이 27분류군, III등급이 38분류군, II등급이 31분류군 그리고 I등급이 19분류군이 정리되었고 중점조사지역 6번에서 가장 많은 70분류군이 관찰되었다. 귀화식물은 총 58분류군이 조사되었고 중점조사지역 6번에서 가장 많은 35분류군이 조사되었다. 동강유역생태 경관보전지역은 지역적인 규모에서 뿐만 아니라 국가적인 규모에서 식물다양성을 유지하고 보전하는데 있어서 중요성이 높다고 평가되었다.
