The processes of formation and dissociation of gas hydrates were investigated by monitoring pressure and temperature variations in a pressure cell in order to understand the kinetic behavior of gas hydrate and the controlling factors fur the phase transition of gas hydrate below freezing. Gas hydrates were made kom guest gases ($CH_4,\;CO_2$, and their mixed-gas) and fine ice powder. We found that formation and dissociation speeds of gas hydrates were not controlled by temperature and pressure conditions alone. The results of this study suggested that pressure levels at the formation of mixed-gas hydrate determine the transient equilibrium pressure itself.
This paper deals with the accumulated damage in concrete structures due to the cyclic freeze-thaw as an environmental load. The cyclic ice body nucleation and growth processes in porous systems are affected by the thermo-physical and mass transport properties, and gradients of temperature and chemical potentials. Furthermore, the diffusivity of deicing chemicals shows significantly higher value under cyclic freeze-thaw conditions. Consequently, the disintegration of concrete structures is aggravated at marine environments, higher altitudes, and northern areas. However, the properties of cyclic freeze-thaw with crack growth and diffusion of chloride ion effects are hard to be identified in tests, and there has been no analytic model for the combined degradations. The main objective is to determine the driving force and evaluate the reduced strength and stiffness by freeze-thaw. For the development of computational model of those coupled deterioration, micro-pore structure characterization, pore pressure based on the thermodynamic equilibrium, time and temperature dependent super-cooling with or without deicing salts, nonlinear-fracture constitutive relation for the evaluation of internal damage, and the effect of entrained air pores (EA) has been modeled numerically. As a result, the amount of ice volume with temperature dependent surface tensions, freezing pressure and resulting deformations, and cycle and temperature dependent pore volume has been calculated and compared with available test results. The developed computational program can be combined with DuCOM, which can calculate the early aged strength, heat of hydration, micro-pore volume, shrinkage, transportation of free water in concrete. Therefore, the developed model can be applied to evaluate those various practical degradation cases as well.

Drop-in tests were conducted using R290/R32 (31:69) mixture in an ice-cream maker for possible replacement of R-502 and R-404A. Optimum refrigerant charge and TEV opening were obtained through a series of experiments. At the standard outdoor condition ($35^{\circ}C$ DT, $24^{\circ}C$ WT), the time required for initial ice-cream making was 6'22", which was approximately the same as that of R-404A. The electric energy consumed was 660 kJ, which was about 10% higher than that of R-404A. The compressor outlet temperature ($8^{\circ}C$) and pressure (2.52 MPa) were higher than those ($60^{\circ}C$ and 1.48 MPa) of R-404A. The reason could be the usage of the same R-404A compressor although the specific volume of R290/R32 is much larger.
Several models for the evaluation of Gross Heat Release from the internel combustion engine (ICE) are often used in literature. One of these is the First Law - Single Zone Model (FL-SZM), derived from the First Law of Thermodynamic. This model present a twice advantage: first it describes with accuracy the physic of the phenomenon (charge heat release during the combustion stroke and heat exchange between gas and cylinder wall); second it hat a great simplicity in the mathematical formulation. The evaluation of Heat Release with the FL-SZM is based on pressure experimental measurements inside the cylinder, and ell the assumption of several parameters as the specific heat ratio, wall temperature, polytropic exponent for the motored cycle evaluation, and many others. In this paper the influence of gases thermodynamic properties on Cross Heat Release has been esteemed. In particular the influence of an appropriate equation for k=k(T) (specific heat ratio vs. temperature) which describes the variations of gases thermodynamic properties with the mean temperature inside the cylinder has been evaluated. This equation has been calculated by new V order Logarithmic Polynomials (VoLP), fitting experimental gases properties through the least square methods.
This study analyzes the tide deformation of land boundary regions on the east (Region A) and west (Region B) sides of the Ross Ice Shelf in Antarctica using Double-Differential Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (DDInSAR). A total of seven Sentinel-1A SAR images acquired in 2015-2016 were used to estimate the accuracy of tide prediction model and Young's modulus of ice shelf. First, we compared the Ross Sea Height-based Tidal Inverse (Ross_Inv) model, which is a representative tide prediction model for the Antarctic Ross Sea, with the tide deformation of the ice shelf extracted from the DDInSAR image. The accuracy was analyzed as 3.86 cm in the east region of Ross Ice Shelf and it was confirmed that the inverse barometric pressure effect must be corrected in the tide model. However, in the east, it is confirmed that the tide model may be inaccurate because a large error occurs even after correction of the atmospheric effect. In addition, the Young's modulus of the ice was calculated on the basis of the one-dimensional elastic beam model showing the correlation between the width of the hinge zone where the tide strain occurs and the ice thickness. For this purpose, the grounding line is defined as the line where the displacement caused by the tide appears in the DDInSAR image, and the hinge line is defined as the line to have the local maximum/minimum deformation, and the hinge zone as the area between the two lines. According to the one-dimensional elastic beam model assuming a semi-infinite plane, the width of the hinge region is directly proportional to the 0.75 power of the ice thickness. The width of the hinge zone was measured in the area where the ground line and the hinge line were close to the straight line shown in DDInSAR. The linear regression analysis with the 0.75 power of BEDMAP2 ice thickness estimated the Young's modulus of 1.77±0.73 GPa in the east and west of the Ross Ice Shelf. In this way, more accurate Young's modulus can be estimated by accumulating Sentinel-1 images in the future.

Better understanding the mechanism of black ice occurrence on the road in winter is necessary to reduce the socio-economic damage it causes. In this study, intensive observations of road weather elements and surface information under the influence of synoptic high-pressure patterns (22nd December, 2020 and 29th January, and 25th February, 2021) were carried out using a mobile observation vehicle. We found that temperature and road surface temperature change is significantly influenced by observation time, altitude and structure of the road, surrounding terrain, and traffic volume, especially in tunnels and bridges. In addition, even if the spatial distribution of temperature and road surface temperature for the entire observation route is similar, there is a difference between air and road surface temperatures due to the influence of current weather conditions. The observed road temperature, air temperature and air pressure in Nongong Bridge were significantly different to other fixed road weather observation points.

This study aimed to collect the carbon dioxide generated as a by-product from petrochemicals and liquor factories and use it in a crop breeding greenhouse. This was applied mainly to the storage of dry ice and the supply of carbon dioxide to achieve this target. Dry ice has a strong cooling effect because CO2 becomes a solid or gas at temperatures and pressures below the triple point, and the solid sublimes at -78.5℃ and atmospheric pressure. The consumption of dry ice according to temperature was 0.983kg/day, 2.358kg/day, 5.102kg/day, and 7.035kg/day when the temperature was 5℃, 10℃, 15℃, and 20℃, respectively, which corresponded to 1,102ppm, 1,481ppm, 1,677ppm, and 1,855ppm. Dry ice consumption in the test greenhouse decreased by approximately 0.9kg/h, and the CO2 concentration in the greenhouse at 9 a.m., before supplying dry ice increased to 517ppm, 1,519ppm at 10 a.m., 1,651ppm at 11 a.m., and 1,651ppm at 12 p.m., before maintaining this level of activity. Overall, this study attempted to contribute to increasing farm income by deriving the supply conditions through an expansion of the supply of carbon dioxide gas for crops.

The internal temperature of human-tissue transfers must be steadily maintained regardless of the external environmental changes. An ice pack and dry ice are the coolants for the transfer containers for which heat-insulating materials such as EPP (expended polypeopylene and EPS (expended polystrene) are used; however, changes of the external temperature/pressure and the melting of the coolants that is due to a long carriage result in changes of the internal temperature, and this makes it difficult to maintain the temperature. Accordingly, the thermoelectric element was used to design/manufacture a transfer container to maintain the internal temperature regardless of the external environmental changes. As a result of the measurement of the changes of the internal temperatures of the manufactured thermoelectric-element container and the EPS container over time, the internal temperature of the EPS container was increased, whereas the internal temperature of the thermoelectric-element container was maintained. The temperature of the distilled water that was poured into the containers indicated a pattern identical to that of the internal temperature.

Methane Hydrates or Natural Gas Hydrates (hereinafter NGH) are solid-state energy source formed by the clathration of methane gas in water molecules at low temperature and high pressure. NGH is also known as "burning ice" because of its burning property and appearance similar to that of dry ice. Today, concerns about the NGH are rising as an environment-friendly energy source that can replace fossil fuels. In this paper, to keep pace with the research and development of the NGH, the properties of the NGH and the general features of NGH carriers are introduced.
We investigated the response of the westerly winds over the Southern Ocean (SO) to glacial boundary conditions for the Last Glacial Maximum using the CCM3 atmospheric general circulation model. In response to glacial boundary conditions, the zonally averaged maximum SO westerly winds weakened 20-35% and were displaced toward the equator by 3-4 degrees. This weakening of the SO westerly winds arose from a substantial increase in mean sea level pressure (MSLP) in the southern part of the SO around Antarctica relative to the northern part. The increase in MSLP around Antarctica is associated with a marked temperature reduction caused by an increase in sea ice cover and ice albedo feedback during the glacial time. The weakened westerly winds in the SO and their equator-ward displacement might play a role in reducing the atmospheric $CO_2$ concentration by reducing upwelling of the carbon rich deep water during the glacial time.
