ITS 장비 성능시험장 선정기준 및 구축결과 (Results of Developing an ITS Device Performance Test-Bed and Criteria of Its Selection)

  • 미국, 일본 등에서는 ITS 장비 성능시험장을 구축하여 정보의 신뢰성 강화, 표준화 및 호환성 확보 등에 활용하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 외국사례를 검토하여 시험장 선정기준을 제시하고 그에 부합하는 성능시험장을 구축하였으며 ITS 장비 성능시험장의 시범운영을 실시하고 그 시험결과를 분석함으로써 ITS 장비 성능시험장 구축의 중요성을 확인하였다.

  • 최근 ITS가 전국적으로 확대 구축되면서 교통정보의 신뢰성 확보 및 향상에 대한 요구가 증대되고 있으나 현재까지 교통 정보 신뢰성의 중요 요소인 ITS 장비를 시험하고 검사하기 위한 평가방법과 평가시설이 마련되지 않고 있어 교통정보의 신뢰성이 확보되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 외국의 ITS 장비 성능평가시스템에 대한 사례 연구를 통해 우리나라 실정에 맞는 성능평가방법을 정립하고 성능평가시설을 구축했다.

  • A remote drum grappling device coupled to the anti-swing crane has been developed by KAERI to cope with problems involved in manually treating low level waste drums. In order for this grappling device to be operated effectively, multi-sensors including CCD camera were employed. As an activity representation scheme of the device, Extended State Machine (ESM) was used to descibe its operation sequences. The performance testing of the device was conducted successfully, and consequently its application could be extendable to industrial operation environment.

Process-Structure-Property Relationship and its Impact on Microelectronics Device Reliability and Failure Mechanism

  • Microelectronics device performance and its reliability are directly related to and controlled by its constituent materials and their microstructure. Specific processes used to form and shape the materials microstructure need to be controlled in order to achieve the ultimate device performance. Examples of front-end and back-end ULSI processes, packaging process, and novel optical storage materials are given to illustrate such process-structure-property-reliability relationship. As more novel materials are introduced to meet the new requirements for device shrinkage, such under-standing is indispensable for future generation process development and reliability assessment.

신규 ITS 서비스를 위한 전용 u-단말기 설계 및 구현에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design and Implementation of the private u-Terminal for the new ITS Service)

  • 본 논문에서는 신규 ITS 서비스(택시 콜 서비스, 교통약자 서비스, 교통안내 서비스, 뚜벅이네비게이션, 전자지불 서비스, 전화안내 서비스 등)들을 구축하기 위해 필수적으로 필요한 전용 u-단말기 개발에 관한 내용을 주요 핵심으로 서술한다. 본 단말기의 설계에 있어서 삼성 메인 CPU인 S3C2440A를 채택하였으며, 신규 ITS 서비스를 위해 필수 요구사항인 대용량 메모리(ROM 및 RAM)를 적용시켰으며, 그 외 GPS, RFID 모듈, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 등의 기능들을 모두 포함시켜, 유비쿼터스 사회에 꼭 필요한 전용 단말기를 개발하였다. 이를 위해 본 논문에서는 전용 u-단말기 개발에 대한 상세 설계 내용을 우선 살펴본 뒤, 설계된 내용을 바탕으로 실제 구현된 u-단말기의 성능 평가에 대한 내용을 다루었다. 이렇게 개발된 전용 u-단말기를 적용시켜, 신규 ITS 서비스에 관련 공공기관 및 업체와 연동하여 서비스들을 창출한다면 새로운 블루오션의 사업으로 확대되어 지역 사회에 파생 효과가 매우 클 것으로 사료될 것이다.

편광으로 조절되는 인터리빙 신호 게이팅 광섬유 소자 (Polarization-controlled Interleaved Signal Gating Fiber Device)

  • In this paper we fabricated a fiber device composed of cascaded long-period fiber gratings between which a birefringent erbium-doped fiber was inserted and proposed its application as a polarization-controlled interleaved signal gating fiber device. Because the core and cladding modes of the fabricated fiber device have polarization-dependent phase difference due to the birefringence of the erbium-doped fiber, its interference spectrum can be modulated by varying the input polarization.

  • The haptic system becomes an essential device in the area of tele-operation, video entertainment and medical operation. To control a haptic device, impedance control method is widely used, but force sensor costs so much that open-loop control method is usually preferred for commercial purpose. In this case, modeled/un-modeled dynamics affects the performance of device. In this paper, we present a new 3DOF five-link type haptic device that we can reduce the effect of device dynamics and compensate its dynamics. We also evaluate its performance.

Z-Clutching: Interaction Technique for Navigating 3D Virtual Environment Using a Generic Haptic Device

  • Navigating a large 3D virtual environment using a generic haptic device can be challenging since the haptic device is usually bounded by its own physical workspace. On the other hand, mouse interaction easily handles the situation with a clutching mechanism-simply lifting the mouse and repositioning its location in the physical space. Since the haptic device is used for both input and output at the same time, in many cases, its freedom needs to be limited in order to accommodate such a situation. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism called Z-Clutching for 3D navigation of a virtual environment by using only the haptic device without any interruption or sacrifice in the given degrees of freedom of the device's handle. We define the clutching state which is set by pulling the haptic handle back into space. It acts similarly to lifting the mouse off the desk. In this way, the user naturally feels the haptic feedback based on the depth (z-direction), while manipulating the haptic device and moving the view as desired. We conducted a user study to evaluate the proposed interaction technique, and the results are promising in terms of the usefulness of the proposed mechanism.

  • Currently mobile devices change rapidly our life and they have considerable influences over many parts of our society. If the mobile device is applied to a control system, the usability of the control system is increased with its convenient accessibility and mobility. This paper realizes a motor control system by using a mobile device. The device uses Intel Xscale PXA-250 in which Widows CE is ported. The device is very popular at the applications of mobile devices. Also we consider its application to a mobile robot such as home service robot.

Nanoscale Fabrication of Biomolecular Layer and Its Application to Biodevices

  • Biodevices composed of biomolecular layer have been developed in various fields such as medical diagnosis, pharmaceutical screening, electronic device, photonic device, environmental pollution detection device, and etc. The biomolecules such as protein, DNA and pigment, and cells have been used to construct the biodevices such as biomolecular diode, biostorage device, bioelectroluminescence device, protein chip, DNA chip, and cell chip. Substantial interest has focused upon thin film fabrication or the formation of biomaterials mono- or multi-layers on the solid surfaces to construct the biodevices. Based on the development of nanotechnology, nanoscale fabrication technology for biofilm has been emerged and applied to biodevices due to the various advantages such as high density immobilization and orientation control of immoblized biomolecules. This review described the nanoscale fabrication of biomolecular film and its application to bioelectronic devices and biochips.
