Expert system is a practical application part of the artificial intelligence and can be generally described as a computer-based system designed to simulate the knowledge and reasoning of a human expert, and to make that knowledge conveniently available to other people in a useful way. Expert systems consist of three major components, knowledge base, inference engine and user interface. In this paper, it is aimed to construct a prototype system to design the horizontal-typed pressure vessel. To do this, a representative artificial programming language, Turbo Prolog, was employed, and the knowledge representation was mainly done by the production rule such as "If(condition), than (action)" style and by the predicate logic. In the developed system, it was quite easy to represent the knowledge of "If(condition), then (action)"style and by the predicate logic. In the developed system, it was quite easy to represent the knowledge of "If(condition). then(action)" style and the various table-like data. It was also effective to represent the graphics. Though this expert system is by now small and incomplete, it is possible to expand it to a larger and refined system later.rger and refined system later.
The 21/sup st/ century is a society based on knowledge, so in economic activities, it has emphasized the importance of information such as intellectual property or intangible asserts. Especially, according to the agreement on trade related as parts of intellectual property rights in WTO, it is used as the method of commercial entente and monopoly for intellectual property in an advanced nation. For this reason, WIPO and UNESCO discussed a complement for intellectual property on the foundation of traditional knowledge such as traditional knowledge (TK), genetic resources (GR) and traditional cultural expressions (TCE, folklore). Korea has a lot of knowledge falling under TK, GR, and TCE because of the long history of the country. In the case of traditional medical care, it has been used in the public health system. It is hard to apply these rights to traditional medical care of Korea because the laws of intellectual property have been established under the ideas of western culture. It is necessary to improve the classification system of traditional knowledge and patents. In the patent classified system of IPC, it needs to be related to the research between the classified system for massive technology and the classified system for traditional clinic technology.
The business models has a great impact on the successful management of enterprises. Business environment has been shifting from industrial economy to knowledge-based economy. Enterprises go through numerous trials for successful management in the changing environment. Along with trial tests, research areas have been growing simultaneously. Although many researches have been conducted with regard to business models, it is very insufficient to systematically analyze the knowledge flow of research. Accordingly, successive researchers who want to study the business model may find it difficult to establish the orientation of future application research based on understanding the process of changing the knowledge structure that have accumulated so far. This study is intended to determine the current state of the business model research and to understand the process of knowledge structure changes in keywords that appear in 2,667 business model articles in the SCOPUS database. Identifying the knowledge structure has been completed through social network analysis, a methodology based on the 'relationship', and the changes in the knowledge structure were identified by classifying them into four different periods. The analysis showed that, first, the number of business model co-author increases over time with the need for academic diversity. Second, the 'innovation' keyword has the biggest center in the network, and over time, the lower-rank keyword which was in the former period has emerged as the top-rank keyword. Third, the cohesiveness group decreased from 12 before 2000 to 5 in 2015 and also the modularity decreased as well. Finally, examining characteristics of study area through a cognitive map showed that the relationships between domains increased gradually over time. The study has provided a systematic basis for understanding the current state of the business model research and the process of changing knowledge structure. In addition, considering that no research has ever systematically analyzed the knowledge structure accumulated by individual researches, it is considered as a significant study.
IT service is becoming a critical business operation in the age of information revolution. In providing IT services internally to other functions of the corporation and externally to other organizations, sharing of knowledge between business people and system people is known to become more and more critical for successful IT services. Purpose of this research is to examine the impact of IT service quality on knowledge sharing activities between IT service providers and users. Theoretical research model, through an extant literature review, is proposed here, consisting of IT service quality, relationship quality(satisfaction, trust and commitment), and the level of knowledge sharing activities. Survey results of 183 users indicates that IT service quality significantly influences commitment through satisfaction and trust, which in turn influences the level of knowledge sharing activities. Also, interestingly, satisfaction and trust do not directly influences the level of knowledge sharing, but indirectly, through commitment.
Purpose - In this research, we investigate the relationship between the level of information technology utilization, social capital and knowledge management, organization performance. For information and knowledge management, participants' certain level of information technology utilization is required and connections among participants are necessary for performing and for synergy effects. Research design, data, and methodology - Reflecting on these, we empirically analyze the effects of participant's information technology utilization level and social capital on knowledge management and organization achievement for the case of Incheon International Airport. Questionnaire is distributed to the airport employees and collected 221 samples for analyzing. SPSS and AMOS statistic programs are used for analysis. Factor analysis, Credibility adaptability, path analysis, hypotheses are verified. Results - The study research shows as follow. First, the level of IT utilization does affect social capital but does not affect knowledge management. Second, social capital affects both knowledge management and organization achievement. To investigate more about the relationship between the level of IT utilization and knowledge management, we analyzed the control effects of personal characteristics, and findings are, first, employees with longer time service recognize the importance that the level of IT use and knowledge management affect organization achievement more seriously than employees with shorter time service do. Second, employees with shorter time service and younger employees have relatively lesser social capital and participate in knowledge management passively. Third, higher position employees think that the level of IT utilization affects knowledge management while lower position employees do not. Conclusions - The level of IT utilization affects social capital, and social capital affects knowledge management and organization achievement. These results suggest that the level of IT utilization is very important to both organization and each employee. So providing related training and education opportunities or incentives to induce employees to make efforts for higher level of IT utilization and thus to participate in knowledge management more actively is necessary. The level of IT utilization affects social capital which airport employees lack. The one of study results indicates the importance of social capital and for higher competitiveness of the airport social capital should be increased.
As the Knowledge Economy grows bigger, studies and practices of knowledge management flourish in almost every organizations. Yet, the studies of fundamental relationships between knowledge and organization have not been sufficiently developed. It is partly because current knowledge management mainly focus on the technical aspects of the theme. This paper tries to find the possible organizing principles and theoretical foundations of knowledge-intensive organizations through the perspective of knowledge market and knowledge community. Based on the differentiation of "knowledge" and "knowing", the author draws several propositions about knowledge creation and knowledge use. Then, the author relates these propositions to the design and implementation of two theoretical models of organizations, i. e. knowledge market and knowledge community. Major claims are: 1) Knowledge use and knowledge creation process are conceptually separable, so that different conceptual models (market & community) need to be applied. 2) Since knowledge use and creation should be integrated, organizations in the Knowledge Economy should be the efficient knowledge market and, at the same time, knowledge community with care and cooperations. 3) The network of independent small KIFs(knowledge-intensive firms) could be considered as the possible organizational model of the future.
The purpose of this study is to empirically analyze the impact that occurs when Korean organizations make practical use of various information technology tools and systems in the knowledge management process, such as sharing, learning and creating knowledge. Such a process is usually made through online and offline knowledge management activities. This paper also verifies how the externalization of tacit knowledge, and the internalization of explicit knowledge via the Internet and offline socialization activities have altered the mechanisms of knowledge transfers inside organizations. For the research, a survey was conducted on the satisfaction and usability levels of information technology, and the impact of IT usage on the results of knowledge management activities and knowledge transfers. 622 Korean organizations were surveyed, including major listed firms and public organizations. The results were examined as an online/offline integration process using SECI's Model proposed by Nonaka (1994, 1995). The analysis shows that information technology satisfaction and the usage of information technology help accelerate the pace of the knowledge flow and amplify the volume of the knowledge transfer by boosting the externalization and internalization processes-also known as knowledge management activities. However. there is no distinct correlation between information technology and socialization, an offline knowledge transferal activity. In particular, the quality of knowledge-an end result of knowledge transfer-does not improve merely by the externalization of online knowledge and instead requires the internalization of knowledge processes. Above all, the research reveals that offline socialization processes vastly contribute to the improvement of knowledge quality. This paper suggests that in order to ensure a transfer of quality knowledge, an organization or a company should focus on the use of information technology rather than the satisfaction level of information technology, and that knowledge transfers via the Internet has limitations in creating high quality of knowledge. For an organization to ensure the transfer of high-quality knowledge, the organization should not entirely hinge the transfer of knowledge online, as it is essential to have an offline method-a form of socialization such as a 'community of practice.'
A knowledge map is a network-typed diagram visualizing all kinds of knowledge that influences each other to solve a problem. A knowledge map determines the structure of knowledge categorizing and archiving by defining the relationship of referential navigation among knowledge. Since tremendous and increasing number of knowledge needs to be included in a knowledge map, a knowledge map must be organized automatically by considering the contents and relationships of knowledge. This paper suggests the concept and prototype of a semi-automated knowledge map which automatically maps new piece of knowledge onto a manually provided draft map. The prototype knowledge map is based on the recursive programming to make a knowledge map automatically determine the location of the newly-entered knowledge by considering the referential relationship between knowledge. The proposed knowledge enables the knowledge network to expand autonomously by automatically including and storing knowledge. Also, it can improve the accuracy and applicability of knowledge for problem-solving, because the relationship of referential navigation among knowledge can be efficiently and effectively expressed.
Background: The efficient knowledge management in hospital organization is generally known as the important activities relevant to employees' knowledge sharing behavior and work performance. This research examined factors affecting employees' knowledge sharing behavior and work performance in top 4 university hospitals. This study is based on individual factors such as incentives, reciprocity, behavioral control, and subjective norms. Also, there are organizational factors such as CEO support, learning climate, IT system, rewards system, and trust. Methods: Data was collected from employees who are working at 3 hospitals university in Seoul and 1 university hospital in Gyeonggi-Do through the self-administered questionnaires. A total of 779 questionnaires were analyzed by PASW SPSS ver. 18.0. (SPSS Inc., Chicago, IL, USA). Results: The significant variables affecting knowledge sharing behavior are behavioral control (in individual factor) and CEO, IT system, and trust (in organization factor). Also the significant variables affecting work performance are incentives, reciprocity, subjective norms, and behavioral control (in individual factor) and CEO support, IT system, reward system, and trust (in organization factor). Conclusion: The personality and organization characteristics factors is important to improve knowledge sharing behavior and work performance of hospital employees. Therefore, to make more efficient knowledge management is to build and system knowledge sharing culture, system, and leadership and to develop practical strategies.

Rethinking and re-conceptualization of knowledge organization has become necessary as a result of recent changes brought by digitization, networked resources, and interdisciplinary shifts. This paper calls for a review of curriculum and changes in teaching approaches to respond to these changes. The paper suggests expanding the scope of knowledge organization by adding new topics, and recommends placement of these topics in different courses (introductory or foundation courses, core or required courses, and electives or specialized courses) for a balanced approach. The paper also proposes a change in the mindset about the target of these courses and recommends knowledge organization work be extended from institutions to individuals. It is also suggested that knowledge organization work responsibilities are broadened to involve authors, knowledge workers, and information users rather than restricting it only to trained information professionals. The paper highlights that the digital environment makes it necessary to change the context for teaching KO courses and goes beyond the collection of information resources and addresses personal information management needs as well. The paper concludes that fundamental changes tantamount to re-conceptualization of the area of knowledge organization, which is expected to open up new opportunities for information graduates aspiring to work in information environment beyond libraries.
