Purpose: This study was done to compare the relationships between motivation to achieve, clinical competency, and satisfaction on clinical practice in diploma and baccalaureate nursing students. Method: A descriptive research design was used in this study. The participants were 181 nursing students in B city who were surveyed between June 2 and June 30, 2008 using self-report questionnaires. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 14.0. Results: There were significant difference in clinical competency according to satisfaction with college life, and motivation for choice of nursing for baccalaureate students. There was a positive correlation between motivation to achieve and clinical competency. Motivation to achieve and satisfaction in clinical practice, and clinical competency and satisfaction were correlated with clinical practice for students in both diploma and baccalaureate programs. The predictors influencing clinical competency for the nursing students were motivation to achieve, and satisfaction in clinical practice, and education level. Three factors explained 26.8% of clinical competency for nursing students. Conclusion: It is necessary to enhance individual motivation to achieve to improve clinical competency of nursing students. Motivation to achieve needs to be considered in planning programs to enhance clinical competency in nursing students.
Purpose: This study examined the relationships among disaster nursing knowledge, disaster preparedness attitudes, and disaster nursing competency among nursing students by identifying the predictors of disaster nursing competency. Methods: The study participants were 306 nursing students in the nursing departments of 3 universities located in G City and J Province. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, the Pearson correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. Results: The participants' scores for disaster nursing knowledge, disaster preparedness attitudes, and disaster nursing competency were 5.41±1.68, 4.29±0.46, and 2.84±0.78, respectively. Disaster nursing knowledge, disaster preparedness attitudes, and disaster nursing competency exhibited positive correlations. The factors influencing disaster nursing competency among nursing students included disaster nursing knowledge, disaster preparedness attitudes, year level, disaster training experience, first-aid training experience, disaster area experience, medical service experience, and disaster severity awareness. These variables explained 17% of the variance in disaster nursing competency. Conclusion: Disaster nursing knowledge and disaster preparedness attitudes was positively related to disaster nursing competency. The findings of this study indicate that it is important to develop and apply education programs aimed at increasing disaster nursing knowledge and enhancing disaster preparedness attitudes among nursing students to improve nursing students' disaster nursing competency.
Purpose: The aim of study was to identify ranges of Korean nurses' competency in disaster nursing. Methods: A scoping review was conducted using the Joanna Briggs Institute methodology. The review used information from four databases: RISS, ScienceON, EBSCO Discovery Service, and CINAHL. In this review, key words were 'disaster', 'nurs*', 'competenc*', 'ability' and 'preparedness'. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were identified as strategies to use in this review. The inclusion criteria for this review focused on the following: Korean nurse, articles related to disaster nursing competency, peer-review articles published in the full text in Korean and English. Review articles were excluded. Results: Nineteen studies were eligible for result extraction. A total of 10 categories of disaster nursing competency were identified: Knowledge of disaster nursing, crisis management, disaster preparation, information collection and sharing, nursing record and document management, communication, disaster plan, nursing activities in disaster response, infection management, and chemical, biological, radiation, nuclear, and explosive management. Conclusion: It is necessary to distinguish between Korean nurses' common disaster nursing competency, professional disaster nursing competency, and disaster nursing competency required in nursing practice. Therefore, future research will be needed to explore and describe disaster nursing competency.
The dual aims of this study were i) to explore the effectiveness of an assessment method that can measure the competencies learned through high school home economics and ii) develop a competency-based assessment framework for high school home economics, including components of competency-based assessment, item development system, and other elements. The study involved the following stages: literature analysis, draft development, concretization, validity verification, and final version. Based on the results of the literature analysis and expert deliberation, a competency-based assessment framework for high school home economics was developed which comprised three dimensions: 'core idea' × 'process' × 'context and value'. Based on this, an item analysis table was presented to systematize various activities for the competency-based assessment of high school home economics, following which a holistic rubric suitable for competency assessment tasks was proposed by referring to the newly developed 'process' dimension assessment criteria. This study is significant in that it is the first to propose a competency-based assessment framework that systematically presents a variety of assessment activities. These will facilitate the development of assessment standards and tools that teachers can refer to or trust in the changing school environment due to the introduction of the standard-based assessment system based on a high school credit system, and the guarantee of a minimum achievement level.
Purpose: Although appointed as a national competency standards (NCS) based reserves department, the department of emergency medical technology, an NCS-based emergency department, is mainly focused on subject deduction for a NCS-based curriculum. Methods: Job models were formed and verified by combining the competency unit of NCS and the duty of Developing a curriculum (DACUM) based on the development procedure indicated in the guidelines for a NCS-based curriculum. The mapping method of the subject was performed by deducting necessary competency units (duty) and competency unit elements (task) by connecting with the composition items of NCS and DACUM. Results: Job models combined with job analysis for the NCS and DACUM were reduced to 13 competency units (duty) and 79 competency unit elements (task). A modified method such as the 1:N method was mainly applied as a subject-matching method with consideration of the competency level and size of the competency unit. Conclusion: It would be a desirable direction to develop a NCS-based curriculum in the center of the practice subject in consideration of the size of the competency unit and competency level of the competency unit element. The existing curriculum should be promoted as a field-oriented curriculum at the complementary level.

The purpose of this study was to develop a female entrepreneurial competency model. For the purpose, two Focus Group Interviews (FGI) were conducted with seven outstanding female entrepreneurs, and three expert reviews were conducted. In addition, in order to verify the validity of the provisional female entrepreneur competency model derived from the FGI and competency modeling expert review, the female entrepreneur competency model was finally confirmed through a survey of 442 female entrepreneurs. The results were as follows. First, a female entrepreneur competency model consisting of 6 competency groups and 25 competencies of entrepreneurship, emotion, business management, relationship management, strategic management, and multitasking, and 75 behavioral indicators describing each competency was developed. Second, sensibility and multitasking are competencies that reflect the characteristics of female entrepreneurs. In particular, 'social sense', which is the ability to be considerate of others in the emotional competency group and the ability to respond well to subtle nuances, and the multitasking competency group's unique strengths are women's ability to perform various tasks at the same time. The 'work-family control ability' of a female entrepreneur who maintains a balance between 'multi-tasking' and work and family is a representative competency of only female entrepreneurs. Third, the developed female entrepreneurship competency model is meaningful in that it not only increases female entrepreneurial competency so that prospective female entrepreneurs can successfully run a business through entrepreneurship education, but it also makes it easy for existing female entrepreneurs to reflect and improve their competencies. If we provide appropriate training programs to female entrepreneurs based on their competency, it will be possible to effectively enhance the entrepreneurial competency, which is the key to strengthening the competitiveness of female entrepreneurs. The female entrepreneur competency model developed through this study can provide a basis for future research on competency diagnosis and education needs analysis.
As the domestic consulting industry matured, consultants were required to have insight into customer's business and consulting business. Gaining these insights requires deep understanding of the business domains and high degree of competencies. This study empirically analyzed the data collected through the survey in order to apply the ICMCI competence model to domestic consultants. As a result of the study, it was found that business competency and technical competency had a positive effect on project performance, but values & behavior competency were not statistically significant. On the other hand, it was found that only technical competency, values & behavior competency had a positive effect on social-relational competency. Through this study, it was confirmed that a deep understanding and perception of the consulting business is necessary to grow into a professional consultant, but there is a limit to generalizing the research results because the characteristics of the population cannot be sufficiently reflected with a small sample.
The purpose of this study was to develop a competency model by career type by designing the specified career paths through the analysis of career experience of the athletes in the professional sports field. For this purpose, career types were identified as sports administrators, judges, leaders, sports information analysts, and global sports talents based on literature analysis, career development type and path guide design, experts interviews. Competency candidates were derived from interviews and workshops on experts. In order to finalize the competency model, it was confirmed by completing the feasibility test of experts. As a result, it is divided into common competency, professional competency, and global professional competency. There are 6 common competencies such as global competence, OA utilization, 29 special competencies by 5 career types, and 2 global competencies like sports foreign affairs, job preparation for international sports organization and the sports league federation. Competency definitions and behavioral indicator were developed for all competencies and could be used to diagnose the competency level of sports talents and to establish career development academy programs based on the competency model.

Recently, the role of IT service providers has been enlarged from managing a single function or system to reconstructing entire information management processes in new ways to contribute to shareholder value across the enterprise. This movement toward extensive and complex outsourcing agreements has been driven by the assumption that outsourcing information technology functions is a reliable approach to maximizing resource productivity. Hiring external IT service providers to manage part or all of its information-related services helps a firm focus on its core business and provides better services to its clients, thus obtaining sustainable competitive advantage. This practice of focusing on the strategic aspect of outsourcing is referred to as strategic sourcing where the focus is capability sourcing, not procurement. Given the importance of the strategic outsourcing, however, to our knowledge, there is little empirical research on the relationship between the strategic outsourcing orientation and outsourcing performance. Moreover, there is little research on the factor that makes the strategic outsourcing effective. This study is designed to investigate the relationship between strategic IT outsourcing orientation and IT outsourcing performance and the process through which strategic IT outsourcing orientation influences outsourcing performance, Based on the framework of strategic orientation-performance and core competence based management, this study first identifies core competency orientation as a proper strategic orientation pertinent to IT outsourcing and IT outsourcing process management capability as the mediator to affect IT outsourcing performance. The proposed research model is then tested with a sample of 200 firms. The findings of this study may contribute to the literature in two ways. First, it draws on the strategic orientation - performance framework in developing its research model so that it can provide a new perspective to the well studied phenomena. This perspective allows practitioners and researchers to look at outsourcing from an angle that emphasizes the strategic decision making to outsource its IT functions. Second, by separating the concept of strategic orientation and outsourcing process management capability, this study provides practices with insight into how the strategic orientation can work effectively to achieve an expected result. In addition, the current study provides a basis for future studies that examine the factors affecting IT outsourcing performance with more controllable factors such as IT outsourcing process management capability rather than external hard-to-control factors including trust and relationship management. This study investigates the major factors that determine IT outsourcing success. Based on strategic orientation and core competency theories, we develop the proposed research model to investigate the relationship between core competency orientation and IT outsourcing performance and the mediating role of IT outsourcing process management capability on IT outsourcing performance. The model consists of two independent variables (core-competency-orientation and IT outsourcing process management capability), and two dependent variables (outsourced task complexity and IT outsourcing performance). Comprehensive data collection was conducted through an outsourcing association. The survey data were analyzed using a structural analysis method. IT outsourcing process management capability was found to mediate the effect of core competency orientation on both outsourced task complexity and IT outsourcing performance. Further analysis and findings are discussed.

In this paper, we analyse empirically the relation between the IT competency of the Group enterprises, and the management performance of the subsidiary IT service firms in Korea. The 24 IT service firms and relative Group enterprises are included for analysis. The various hypotheses established are validated by t-test method statistically. The results shows that IT competency level of the Group enterprises was affected by not only their sales volumes, new investment volume of IT service, but system management(SM) and inner captive market's sales volume of subsidiary IT service firms also. Additionally the sales volume of IT service firms was affected positively by their inner-captive market's sales, system management sales volume, and the sales volume of their Group enterprise. The service competency of the subsidiary IT service firms is shown as more high in the lower intensity of outer-captive and system integration(SI) business, as well as in the upper intensity of inner-captive and SI business.
