  • As the use of Information Technology is increasing, various kinds of IT service vendor proliferate. And most executives are trying to expand their field to online world. As the emphasis on Information Technology is inevitable, executives want to evaluate the service level they receive from IT service vendor. But. there's not yet the proper evaluation system for IT service. The evaluation systems like CMM, SPICE are process-focused. They don't give a look on the final product delivered to customer. On the other hand, the one that evaluate the customer satisfaction like ACSI, NCSI are too over-focused that they can't express the specific characteristics on the subjects that are deemed to evaluate. The focus is blurred. To overcome these limitations of existing framework, and to increase the value of evaluation, this study presents the evaluation system of IT service (afterwards, named as 'The new evaluation system') that derives process factors from IT service CMM, and evaluate customer satisfaction of IT service. Finally, the model was applied to the actual case to examine the practicality of the framework.

  • The most distinctive characteristic in Maeil's outsourcing strategy was the rapid decision process done by CEO. At first, Maeil made a contract with a outsourcing vendor based on 50% investment for 5 years. However, 3 years later Maeil changed their outsourcing strategy from 10% share to 100% outsourcing. This is for the efficiency improvement and cost reduction. Also, Maeil organized separate TFT which could control IS quality. This TFT reviewed the feasibility of requirement analysis and IS planning process. Through this cooperation between TFT and the outsourcing vendor, Maeil could get the stable IT development and operation. During last 5 years, Maeil achieved great performance in the area of IT development and operation from the outsourcing. The present issue related to outsourcing strategy is whether Maeil will continue the current contract or change the vendor due to the anxiety of becoming a captive customer.

  • This study attempts to understand factors influencing the persistence of companie's outsourcing arrangements using the techniques of survival analysis. It provides an insight into the dynamics of outsourcing relationships between clients and vendors. This is particularly relevant considering that current IS sourcing arrangements are strategic and long term, and require close interdependent relationships between the client and the vendor.

  • In this paper we introduce the Internet-based purchase support systems using data mining and case-based reasoning (CBR). Internet Business activity that involves the end user is undergoing a significant revolution. The ability to track users browsing behavior has brought the vendor and end customer's closer than ever before. It is now possible for a vendor to personalize his product message for individual customers at massive scale. Most of former researchers, in this research arena, used data mining techniques to pursue the customer's future behavior and to improve the frequency of repurchase. The area of data mining can be defined as efficiently discovering association rules from large collections of data. However, the basic association rule-based data mining technique was not flexible. If there were no inference rules to track the customer's future behavior, association rule-based data mining systems may not present more information. To resolve this problem, we combined association rule-based data mining with CBR mechanism. CBR is used in reasoning for customer's preference searching and training through the cases. Data mining and CBR-based hybrid purchase support mechanism can reflect both association rule-based logical inference and case-based information reuse. A Web-log data gathered in the real-world Internet shopping mall is given to illustrate the quality of the proposed systems.

  • Purpose: This study investigates the influence of VMI on the supply chain performance over time. By examining each supply chain member's ongoing performance, this study figures out how VMI allows the vendor to overcome the initial loss and eventually provides the benefit to every supply chain member. Research design, data, and methodology: The proposed mathematical model describes the supply chain system where a manufacturer and a retailer make the operational decisions to maximize their own profits. By using the numerical examples with arbitrary data, VMI and non-VMI are compared in terms of their profit changes over time. Results: The numerical analysis shows that VMI results in greater overall profits for both manufacturer and retailer than non-VMI, while the manufacturer make a loss in the early stage of VMI implementation. This study also examines the impacts of certain conditional factors on the performance of VMI. Conclusions: This study supports the idea that VMI leads to manufacturer's initial loss but it brings greater profits to both manufacturer and retailer than non-VMI after all. In addition, the result of this study provides the managerial implications about the particular condition that allows VMI to achieve a significant financial performance improvement over non-VMI.

  • By the explosive growth of IT technologies, mobile phones have embedded a lot of functions and everyone can use them with facility. But there are various cybercrimes as invasions of one's privacy or thefts of company's sensitive information using a built-in digital camera function in a mobile phone. In this paper, we propose a scheme for analyzing evidences by digital pictures on mobile phones. Therefore we analyze the features of digital pictures on mobile phones and make databases of characteristic patterns based on the vendor and the model of mobile phone. The proposed scheme will help to acquire digital evidences by providing a better decision of the vendor and/or the model of mobile phone by cybercrime suspects.

  • With the development of Computer & Communication Technology, nowadays many people are interested in remote metering, and many vendors are suggesting various remote metering solutions. KEPCO (Korea Electric Power Corporation) adopts some of these to some customers who uses a lot of electric power, also continues researching them. But, currently used electronic watt-hour meters vary in terms of communication protocol and data structure by the vendors. So we have to know each vendor's communication protocol and data structure to construct a remote metering system, or to find problems in it. But that's impossible to know each vendor's protocol and data structure because they are reluctant to tell those to outside the company. To solve these problems and to make a much more cost-effective metering system, KEPCO developed standard communication protocol between meters and PC (or metering server), and defined standard functions and data structure which can be used by everyone easily. Those developments support standard interface for every vendors' meters. And Those will be adopted by KEPCO for a part of a new metering standard for electronic watt-hour meters.
