Frost Prevention of Fin-Tube Heat Exchanger by Spreading Antifreezing Solution (부동액 도포에 의한 핀-튜브 열교환기 착상방지)

  • A study on frost prevention of fin-tube heat exchanger is experimently performed by spreading antifreezing solution on heat exchanger surface. It is desirable that the antifreezing solution spreads completely on the surface forming thin liquid film to prevent frost nucleation and crystal growth and to reduce the thermal resistance across the liquid film. A small amount of antifreezing solution falls in drops on heat exchanger surface using two types of supplying devices, and a porous layer coating technique is adopted to enhance the wettedness of antifreezing solution on the surface. It is observed that the antifreezing solution liquid film prevents fin-tube heat exchanger from frosting, and heat transfer performance does not degrade through the frosting tests. The concentration of supplied antifreezing solution can be determined by heat transfer analysis of the first row of heat exchanger to avoid antifreezing solution freezing due to dilution by moisture absorption.

An analytical solution for finitely long hollow cylinder subjected to torsional impact

  • An analytical method is presented to solve the elastodynamic problem of finitely long hollow cylinder subjected to torsional impact often occurs in engineering mechanics. The analytical solution is composed of a solution of quasi-static equation satisfied with the non-homogeneous boundary condition and a solution of dynamic equation satisfied with homogeneous boundary condition. The quasi-static solution is obtained directly by solving the quasi-static equation satisfied with the non-homogeneous boundary condition. The solution of the non-homogeneous dynamic equation is obtained by means of finite Hankel transform on the radial variable, r, Laplace transform on time variable, t, and finite Fourier transform on axial variable, z. Thus, the solution for finitely long, hollow cylinder subjected to torsion impact is obtained. In the calculating examples, the response histories and distributions of shear stress in the finitely long hollow cylinder subjected to an exponential decay torsion load are obtained, and the results have been analyzed and discussed. Finally, a dynamic finite element for the same problem is carried out by using ABAQUS finite element analysis. Comparing the analytical solution with the finite element solution, it can be found that two kinds of results obtained by means of two different methods agree well. Therefore, it is further concluded that the analytical method and computing process presented in the paper are effective and accurate.

Influence of solution-focused thinking on the role adjustment and life satisfaction of middle-aged married women: The mediating effects of positive emotions (해결중심적 사고가 중년기혼여성의 역할적응과 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향: 긍정정서의 매개효과 검증)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of solution- focused thinking on middle-aged married women's role adjustment and life satisfaction through positive emotions. Method: The subjects of this study is middle-aged married women who reside in an urban community in South Gyeongsang Province. As for data analysis, SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 21.0 are employed. Results: The findings of the study were as follows: First, concerning the relationships of the variables, there were significant positive correlations among all the solution-focused thinking, positive emotions, role adjustment and life satisfaction. Second, solution-focused thinking had significant direct effect on positive emotions, and role adjustment. Solution-focused thinking had significant indirect effect on role adjustment through the medium of positive emotions at the same time. Solution-focused thinking had a significant indirect effect on life satisfaction through the medium of positive emotions and role adjustment. Positive emotions had no direct effect on life satisfaction but had a significant indirect effect on it through the medium of role adjustment. Conclusions: The findings of the study conclude that solution-focused thinking exercised an indirect influence on life satisfaction through the medium of positive emotions and role adjustment made it possible to find a way to provide solution-focused counseling for clients to lead a more satisfactory life.

  • Geometric programming is very useful for the solution of certain nonlinear programming problems in which the objective function and the constraints are posynomial expressions. By solving the dual program, it can be obtained that the solution of the primal program of Geometric programming. And, more efficient solution is to form an Augmented program possessing degree of difficult zero. A regional water-quality management problem may involve a multistage constrained optimization with many decision variables. In this problem, especially, appling that solution to it is also useful. This paper is described that : 1) the efficient solution of a water-quality management model formed by Geometric programming and 2) the algorithm developed to apply easily a real system by modifing and simplifing the solution.

  • This paper focuses on intelligent control of induction motor by hybrid system consisting of GA-PSO. Induction motor has been using in industrial area. However, it is challengeable on how we control effectively. From this point, an optimal solution using GA (Genetic Algorithm) and PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) is introduced to intelligent control. In this case, it is possible to obtain local solution because chromosomes or individuals which have only a close affinity can convergent. To improve an optimal learning solution of control, This paper deal with applying PSO and Euclidian data distance to mutation procedure on GA's differentiation. Through this approaches, we can have global and local optimal solution together, and the faster and the exact optimal solution without any local solution. Four test functions are used for proof of this suggested algorithm.

  • The two typical composite operations of fuzzy relation are the max-min and the min-max composite operations. It is known that the two operations can be completely dual. This paper pays attention to the nature that these two typical operations are completely dual and investigates the correlation between the max-min composite relation equation and the min-max composite relation equation. An important scheme of correlation is in the characteristic of solution sets derived from these two fuzzy relation equations. The paper explains that one of the composite fuzzy relation equations is solvable using the solution method of the other fuzzy relation equation.   • Purpose: The time and cost of a project activity exists in a selected mode and there is a quality level for the selected mode, and the time and cost of the current activity is determined by the quality level of the preceding activity. When an activity is a predecessor activity of an activity, it is characterized as a trade-off problem in which the time and cost of the activity are determined according to the quality level of the activity. Methods: A neighbor search heuristic algorithm obtains a solution by (1) randomly determining the mode, quality level, and assignment order for each activity. (2) get a solution by improving the solution by changing the possible modes and quality levels; (3) to find a solution by improving the solution from the point where it is feasible to advance the start time. Here, Case[1] is a method to find the optimal solution value after repeating (1). Case [2] is a method for finding a solution including (1) and (2). Case [3] refers to a method for finding solutions including (1), (2), and (3). Results: It can be seen that the value of the objective function presented by the algorithm changes depending on how the model of the heuristic algorithm is designed and applied. In other words, it suggests the importance of algorithm design and proves the importance of the quality problem of activities in the project schedule. Conclusion: A study significance of the optimization algorithm and the heuristic algorithm was applied to the effect of the quality of the preceding activity on the duration and cost of itself and the succeeding activity, which was not addressed in the project schedule problem.

A Shortest Path Dynamic Programming for Expansion Sequencing Problems

  • A shortest path dynamic programming formulation is proposed and attemped to solve an uncapacitated expansion sequencing problem. It is also compared with the Extended Binary State Space approach with total capacity. Difficulties and merits associated with the formulation are discussed. The shortest path dynamic programming lacks the separability condition and an optimal solution is not guaranteed. However it has other merits and seems to be the practical solution procedure for the expansion sequencing problem in a sense that it finds near optimal solution with less state evaluations.

A Study on the Error Analysis of the Numerical Solution using Inverse Method (역해석 기법을 이용한 수치해의 오차 분석 연구)

  • An inverse method is introduced to construct the problem for the error analysis of the numerical solution of initial value problem. These problems constructed through this method have a known exact solution, even though analytical solutions are generally not obtainable. The process leading to the exact solution makes use of an initially available approximate numerical solution. A smooth interpolation of the approximate solution is forced to exactly satisfy the differential equation by analytically deriving a small forcing function to absorb all of the errors in the interpolated approximate solution. Using this special case exact solution, it is possible to investigate the relationship between global errors of a candidate numerical solution process and the associated tuning parameters for a given problem. Under the assumption that the original differential equation is well-posed with respect to the small perturbations, we thereby obtain valuable information about the optimal choice of the tuning parameters and the achievable accuracy of the numerical solution.
