Design of an Optical System for a Space Target Detection Camera

  • In this paper, the details and design process of an optical system for space target detection cameras are introduced. The whole system is divided into three structures. The first structure is a short-focus visible light system for rough detection in a large field of view. The field of view is 2°, the effective focal length is 1,125 mm, and the F-number is 3.83. The second structure is a telephoto visible light system for precise detection in a small field of view. The field of view is 1°, the effective focal length is 2,300 mm, and the F-number is 7.67. The third structure is an infrared light detection system. The field of view is 2°, the effective focal length is 390 mm, and the F-number is 1.3. The visible long-focus narrow field of view and visible short-focus wide field of view are switched through a turning mirror. Design results show that the modulation transfer functions of the three structures of the system are close to the diffraction limit. It can further be seen that the short-focus wide-field-of-view distortion is controlled within 0.1%, the long-focus narrow-field-of-view distortion within 0.5%, and the infrared subsystem distortion within 0.2%. The imaging effect is good and the purpose of the design is achieved.

Establishment of the Measurement System of the Magnetic Field for the Study on the Magnetic Field Tolerance of TMP

  • When strong static magnetic field is applied to the TMP, it is expected that the presence of the magnetic field might retard the velocity of the blades which results in the change of the pumping speed of the TMP. However, such effect of the magnetic field on the TMP has not been well characterized. Thus, under the strong magnetic field, monitoring pumping speed as well as generated heat, pressure, and vibration of the TMP may be an important issue to understand the magnetic field tolerance of the TMP and the development of magnetic shielding technique for the key components of the pump. For this purpose, magnetic field generation system to the vertical direction by a circular current source was firstly designed and suggested [K. Baik et al., 44th Annual Conf. KVS, 22(1), 153, (2012)]. In the current study, another magnetic field generation systems are presented to apply the magnetic field to the horizontal and radial directions by the rectangular current sources and the permanent magnets respectively. Such systems were made to generate at least 50 Gauss of magnetic field along the vertical direction and at least 25 Gauss of magnetic field along the horizontal or radial direction. Current study introduces the evaluation system of the magnetic field along the vertical, horizontal, and radial directions and presents the measured experimental results of the magnetic field when such systems are combined with the equipment where TMP will be installed.

The Trends of IT Convergence in Korea

  • These days, the environment of IT development goes through converging with various industries and technologies. Also, it accelerates to pioneer new markets and develop new technologies. This trend becomes one of the most important factors to explore new national growth engines in Korea. Thus, this research examines current trends of IT convergence in Korea. The strategic characteristics of IT convergence in overseas are briefly explained for comparing purpose. The governmental strategies or efforts regarding the IT convergence have been surveyed. Some example convergences of LG, Samsung, and POSCO as major IT industries in Korea have been introduced. It also identifies several buzz concepts in this field. The study aims to provide an insight about the activities that are happening in the field of IT convergence in Korea. Finally, the findings through the research have been summarized.

  • Corona discharges form at the surface of a transmission line conductor when the electric-field intensity on the conductor surface exceeds the breakdown strength of air. In order to decrease the electric-field intensity on the conductor surface, a new 6 conductor bundle has been studied. This bundle, hybrid conductor bundle, consists of using a larger subconductor at the bottom two conductor positions in the 6-conductor bundles of each phase of the line. The electric field on these two larger subconductors is reduced which in turn reduces the corona noise. It is shown that this is a better solution for decreasing the electric-field intensity than ether the conventional bundle or the asymmetric bundle proposed by EPRI.

  • This paper deals with the control of magnetic field around the down conductor of lightning protection systems. The magnetic field strength in the vicinity of down conductor is shown to drop off rapidly with distance from the down conductor and is reversely proportional to the number of down conductor. Also the magnetic field strength is decreased in the structures as the down conductor is installed with the symmetrical arrangement, and it is zero at the center of symmetry. The magnetic field strengths for the symmetrical arrangement of two down conductors are less than one half compared with that for a down conductor. A proper arrangement of down conductor can reduce or cancel the magnetic field in a restricted place where information-oriented and computerized facilities are densely installed.

Characteristics of P-channel SOI LDMOS Transistor with Tapered Field Oxides

  • A new tapered TEOS oxide technique has been developed to use field oxide of the power integrated circuits. It provides better uniformity of less than 3 % and reproducibility. On-resistance of P-channel RESURE (REduced SURface Field) LDMOS transistors has been optimized and improved by using a novel simulation and tapered TEOS field oxide on the drift region of the devices. With the similar breakdown voltage, at $V_{gs}$=-0.5V, the specific on-resistance of the LDMOS with the tapered field oxide is about $31.5{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$, while that of the LDMOS with the conventional field oxide is about $57m{\Omega}{\cdot}cm^2$.

  • Magnetocardiography is a very weak biomagnetic field generated from the heart. Since the magnitude of the biomagnetic field is in the order of a few pico Tesla, it is measured with a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID). SQUID is a transducer converting magnetic flux to voltage, however, its range of linear conversion is very restricted. In order to overcome the narrow dynamic range. a flux locked loop is used to feedback the output field with opposite polarity to the input field so that the total Held becomes zero. This prevents the operating point of the SQUID from moving too far away from the null point thereby escape from the linear region. In this paper, an emulator for the SQUID sensor and feedback coil is proposed. Magnetic courting between the original field and the generated field by the feedback coil is emulated by electronic circuits. By using the emulator, FLL circuits are analyzed and optimized without SQUID sensors. The emulator may be used as a test signal for multi-channel gain calibration and system maintenance.

유한체상의 자원과 시간에 효율적인 다항식 곱셈기 (Resource and Delay Efficient Polynomial Multiplier over Finite Fields GF (2m))

  • Many cryptographic and error control coding algorithms rely on finite field GF(2m) arithmetic. Hardware implementation of these algorithms needs an efficient realization of finite field arithmetic operations. Finite field multiplication is complicated among the basic operations, and it is employed in field exponentiation and division operations. Various algorithms and architectures are proposed in the literature for hardware implementation of finite field multiplication to achieve a reduction in area and delay. In this paper, a low area and delay efficient semi-systolic multiplier over finite fields GF(2m) using the modified Montgomery modular multiplication (MMM) is presented. The least significant bit (LSB)-first multiplication and two-level parallel computing scheme are considered to improve the cell delay, latency, and area-time (AT) complexity. The proposed method has the features of regularity, modularity, and unidirectional data flow and offers a considerable improvement in AT complexity compared with related multipliers. The proposed multiplier can be used as a kernel circuit for exponentiation/division and multiplication.

고온초전도 BSCCO 팬케이크 권선에 인가되는 자장과 임계전류의 산정 (Estimation of the Magnetic Field and the Critical Current of HTS BSCCO Pancake Windings)

  • Critical current of the superconducting machines is limited by the magnetic field. When the magnetic field is not uniform, it is difficult to estimate the magnetic field and the critical current. This paper proposed a method for the estimation of the magnetic field and the critical current of the HTS pancake windings which can be used to generate the high field magnet. A parameter which was needed to calculate the critical current of a BSCCO magnet with 10 pancake windings was obtained by the experiment. Test which was carried out by using single pancake winding and magnet consisting of 10 pancake windings shows the proposed method can be an effective method for the estimation of the critical current of pancake windings.

  • In this paper, the optimum design of the glass net shape was studied to minimize the electric field of mold transformer. The glass net is used for reinforcement in structure between coils and epoxy, but it can cause to increase the electric field and the partial discharge. Therefore, the optimum design of glass net is required to minimize the electric field. In this paper, the objective function was approximated by using response surface method and then Zoom-in method was used for optimal design to minimize the electric field. The electric field was analysed using finite element method for each shape of glass nets.
