  • The study has been carried out to understand productivity-related factors that have been connected to improve financial independence rate of national university hospital. In order to achieve such research purpose as working out implications of efficient resource management, data from the four years between 2007 to 2010 of 12 national university hospitals were reviewed. According to the results, the hospitals came up with significant differences in Value Added to Total Asset, Value Added to Tangible Fixed Assets, Value Added to Personnel Expenses and Value Added Ratio to Patient Revenues. In addition, after the relation between the investment efficiency and profitability of the national university hospitals was investigated, it was learned that application of basic environmental factors would have an influence on a profitability index Operating Margin. As long as the basic environmental factors are adopted, Operating Margin of the national university hospitals is improved under the condition that the Value Added to Tangible Fixed Assets for Production and the Value Added to Personnel Expenses gets higher but the Value Added Ratio to Patient Revenues gets lowered.

  • When the cost-benefit analysis is applied for social discount rate(SDR), the choice of SDR to be used in analysis is critical. One of the important issues when public investment project evaluate what is the SDR theory, so there have studied about SDR and no exact answer it so far. In this study, there are three of SDR theories that be estimated social time preference rate, social investment returns and the weighted average method from 1990s, 2000 to 2003 and 2004 to 2008.. First, social time preference method computes consumer's interest rate and the model of Pearce and Ulph(1999). Second, social investment returns method computes private returns of capital. Third, the weighted average method computes the model of Squire, L., Herman G. van der Tak(1975) and private consumption expense and the private investment expense. SDR is estimated in the rage between 2.4% and 3.9% from 2004 to 2008. It is not appropriate that the interest rate was unstable. But it is consider for social equity from present to future generations. Considering this things, downward need to the value of current SDR 5.5%.

  • The purpose of this study is to give ROI informations about management status and investment returns to someone who will newly cultivate lycium chinese miller or expand area of its cultivation. In this study, IRR, B/C Ratio and NPV is used for ROI analysis. We basically surveyed fifty two among Lycium Chinese Miller cultivation farmhouses in chief producing districts Chungnam Chungyang, Jeonnam Jindo in Korea from May until September in 2009. Hence, this study surveyed these farmers about production cost, management cost, input labors and materials, land price and etc. by working process to calculate production and operation cost. As the result of farm survey, average selling price of Lycium Chinese Miller is 15,000 won per kg at locals for five years. However, when 3% discount rate is applied, the result of the analysis is B/C Ratios 0.89, which shows unprofitable. Therefore, it is a possible baseline that price of Lycium Chinese Miller is at least 16,800 won per kg with 3.00% IRR and B/C Ratio is 1.00. It could be profitable with about 21.75% income ratio when price of Lycium Chinese Miller is 16,800 won per kg.

  • The purpose of this paper is to see what the problem is and what the direction of the Investment of ELB is after this study has analyzed an achievable possibility for a suggested yield of ELB. It analyzes estimated yields from January in 2010 to June in 2016 for ELB Structures issued during 2015~2016. It carries correlation analysis and regression analysis between ELB yield and minimum guarantee yield, maximum stock price growth limit, participation rate. As the study result, a probability of achievement over 2% yield was below 20% as stock price growth had been inside maximum limit. An estimated average yield of ELB was 1.49% and it was lowed than 1.72% of Bank Deposit in 2015. So a realized yield was not satisfied the expected yield. As the correlation coefficient between ELB yield and minimum guarantee yield was 0.843, the correlation coefficient between ELB yield and maximum limit yield was 0.279, the correlation of minimum guarantee yield was high. The suggestion is that the a realized yield of ELB is lower than Bank Deposit interest and that the probability of stock growth inside maximum limit is low.

  • The paper aims to establish the characteristics of the Korean firms' R&D investment and to estimate the private rate of return to R&D investment. For the empirical analysis, a balanced panel data is constructed with 695 firms on 8 year observations. The panel data enables to characterize R&D investment of the Korean firms, which is mostly conformed to the 'stylized facts' of R&D investment that found in the previous studies on foreign firms. Klette model was used to estimate the private rate of return on R&D investment and depreciation rate of R&D capital. The paper estimates that the rate of return on R&D investment is 10.5% on average or 16.4% on median for the whole industry whereas manufacturing firms show 10.4% on average or 16.4% on median. The depreciation rate was estimated about 32.9% for whole industry, where it ranges from the minimum 11.6% for metal industry and 49.5% for services. The median estimate of the rate of return for R&D investment of Korean firms is roughly two times higher than real interest rates for the same period, which implies that R&D investment allows sizable rent in addition to the opportunity cost of capital investment.

  • The study was conducted to find out the relationship between land cost and financial yield earned by the plantations of Pinus koraiensis, Pinus densiflora and Cryptomeria japonica, and to investigate possible land investment for the given rates of return. The result of the study could be summarized as follows: 1. In the case of Pinus koraiensis plantation on site index 12, the finnancial yield was 6.4 percent when the land cost was 0.5 million Won per hectare, but the yield was reduced to 2.1 percent when the cost was 2.5 million Won. It would be therefore necessary for inducing plantation investment to raise financial yield by control of forest land price. 2. The financial yield on land of zero expectation value, in other words, internal rate of return of land investment was estimated at 10 percent. If the opportunity cost of forest land is higher than this, the economic plantation is not visible even though the land is free. 3. With the expected financial yield of 3 percent, the possible land investment of poor sites was estimated at 1.24, 0.28 and 0.80 million Won per hectare for the plantation of Pinus koraiensis, Pinus densiflora and Cryptomeria japonica, respectively. In any case, however, land cost could not be over 3 million Won per hectare. 4. The rate earned from forest land investment was generally less than 10 percent. Therefore, the annual interest rate in forestry could not be higher than this, and hopeful rate is not exceeding 6 percent.

  • This paper explores the relationship between firm-specific volatility and some firm characteristics such as size, the market-to-book ratio of equity, PER, PBR, PCR, PSR and turnover in KOSDAQ market. In addition, I investigate whether portfolios with difference to realized range-based volatility and firm-specific volatility have different investment performance using CAPM and FF-3 factor model. The main findings of this study can be summarized as follows. First, firm-specific volatility have mostly positive relationship between firm-specific volatility and some firm characteristics. Second, this study found that realized range-based volatility and firm-specific volatility are positively related to expected return. It means that portfolios with high idiosyncratic volatility have significantly higher expected return than portfolios with low firm-specific volatility.

  • Unlike typical corporate investments, IT expenditures have direct impact on many aspects of a business, including those that are difficult to quantify. Therefore, financial indicators alone do not do justice to the full effect of an If investment. Proposed in this paper is a methodology to measure the return on IT investments, including non-financial impacts expressed in terms of monetary values. This methodology shows tangible cost as well as hidden cost by analyzing total cost of ownership. The methodology also produces ROI by performing cost benefit analysis including financial and non-financial factors. This paper suggests a more objective validation of If's impact on the business activities. It rationalizes investment priorities and provides a systematic approach to effective IT investment.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out what the investment efficiency of BW is from an investor's point of view and to suggest an efficient investment plan to investors. The research method is to investigate the coupon interest rate, maturity interest rate, issuance date, right exercise start and end date, maturity date, exercise price, etc. for BW issued from 2014 to July 2021. By connecting them, it was attempted to quantitatively understand the efficiency of investment in BW and the effect of new stock acquisitions. As a result of the study, the ratio of the number of days in excess of the exercise price was 41.3% of the available days for new stocks, so it was analyzed that the investment efficiency of bonds with warrants was not high. The return on the exercise start date was 24.8% on average and the return on the end date was 52.6% on average, showing a positive return on average, so it was derived in line with investor expectations. The number of stocks with negative returns on the exercise start date was 1.47 times higher than the number of stocks with positive returns, and the number of stocks with negative returns on the end date was 1.16 times higher than the number of positive stocks.
