An Economic Analysis of Foreign Scientific and Technical Journals using Cost Per Use Approach (이용 당 비용(CPU)에 의한 과학기술분야 해외학술지의 경제성 분석)

  • The purpose of this case study is to analyze the economics of journals of Science and Technology using the cost per use(CPU) approach. To achieve this purpose, we selected 1,745 foreign academic journals randomly among the holdings at K institute in Korea, and analyzed the relationships between the CPU and 5 factors of journal, i.e., Impact Factors (IF), Overlap numbers of holding with other institutes, Language, Cost, and Frequency of use. It is found that all factors, except IF, are significantly influence to the CPU of foreign journals, and further detailed analysis is provided in term of the group differences within each factors.

Cost-sensitive Learning for Credit Card Fraud Detection (신용카드 사기 검출을 위한 비용 기반 학습에 관한 연구)

  • The main objective of fraud detection is to minimize costs or losses that are incurred due to fraudulent transactions. Because of the problem's nature such as highly skewed, overlapping class distribution and non-uniform misclassification costs, it is, however, practically difficult to generate a classifier that is near-optimal in terms of classification costs at a desired operating range of rejection rates. This paper defines a performance measure that reflects classifier's costs at a specific operating range and offers a cost-sensitive learning approach that enables us to train classifiers suitable for real-world credit card fraud detection by directly optimizing the performance measure with evolutionary programming. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach provides an effective way of training cost-sensitive classifiers for successful fraud detection, compared to other training methods.

Factors Affecting the Cost of Rehabilitation Services for People with Congenital Disabilities (선천성 장애인의 재활서비스 비용에 영향을 미치는 요인)

  • The purpose of this study is to identify factors that affect the cost of rehabilitation services for people with congenital disabilities. The subjects of this study were 712 persons who had a disability from prenatal life from data of the 2020 National Survey of the Disabled Persons. 19-40 years, middle-class economic status, monthly family income level, use of vouchers, satisfaction with service institutions, autistic disability types significantly contributed to the cost of rehabilitation services. Among them use of vouchers had the greatest influence on the cost of rehabilitation services. Therefore, in order to reduce the cost of rehabilitation services for people with the congenital disabilities, it is suggested to improve the target of the voucher program and to establish a rehabilitation service support system for the entire life span.

  • Increasing use of information system has led to larger amount of developing expenses and demands on software. Until recent days, the model using regression analysis based on statistical algorithm has been used. However, Machine learning is more investigated now. This paper estimates the software cost using SVR(Support Vector Regression). a sort of machine learning technique. Also, it finds the best set of parameters applying immune algorithm. In this paper, software cost estimation is performed by SVR based on immune algorithm while changing populations, memory cells, and number of allele. Finally, this paper analyzes and compares the result with existing other machine learning methods.

  • Recently, operation of highway is the complex digital Infrastructure based on complicated IT. The application of IT is increasing more and more in digital Infrastructure. Though IT is very convenient, if unpredicted operating risk of highway occurs, widespread damage can be large. When operating risk of highway occurs, road users are out of smoothly-run service because of the operating interruption. This risk causes unpredicted operating management cost and additional maintenance cost. It will excess over the planned operating cost, which may leads to users's unsafety and operator's insolvency because of income loss. Until now, related studies to find out the risk are not sufficient. The purpose of this study is to suggest risk cost items and to estimate the reasonable risk cost by using simulation method in case of occurring the huge power failure at the operating digitalized highway. This study indicates the several plans to hedge against risk cost and the management of highway project. From now on, it will be used as basic data to confirm the soundness of operating system in Digital Infrastructure.

  • It is effective to be located in the double nodes in the distributed object replication systems, then object which nodes share is the same contents. The nodes store an access information on their local cache as it access to the system. and then the nodes fetch and use it, when it needed. But with time the coherence Problems will happen because a data carl be updated by other nodes. So keeping the coherence of the system we need a mechanism that we managed the to improve to improve the performance and availability of the system effectively. In this paper to keep coherence in the shared memory condition, we can set the limited parallel performance without the additional cost except the coherence cost using it to keep the object at the proposed adaptive duplication object(ADO) algorithms. Also to minimize the coherence maintenance cost which is the bi99est overhead in the duplication method, we must manage the object effectively for the number of replication and location of the object replica which is the most important points, and then it determines the cos. And that we must study the adaptive duplication object management mechanism which will improve the entire run time.

  • Since it costs a lot to build a home network system of new service provider, the entry barrier is quite high. If it would be possible to build a home network system with high performance at a low building cost, it would be quite attractive. If a home network would be built in P2P-SIP(Peer to peer - Session Initiation Protocol) structure, it is possible to decrease server maintenance cost and keep high usability by deconcentrating the traffic concentrated on the server. It is also possible to efficiently manage the location information of terminal, if quorum system based on fuzzy logic would be applied. In this paper we propose the P2P-SIP structure applied of quorum system based on fuzzy logic by which a home network system can be built at low cost. It was possible to know by comparing the structure with existing one that the structure has very good performance.

Equilibrium of Voluntary Agreements on Recycling Wastes (폐기물재활용에 있어서 자발적 협약의 균형)

  • The voluntary agreement between industries and government on the recycling of wastes has been analysed. The agreement is one of the threatened voluntary agreements. Theoretically these agreements make it possible to fulfill recycling goals with minimized cost. It is the objective of this paper to evaluate the efficiency of the voluntary agreement on recycling wastes by examining of Nash Equilibrium. In the first place, the equilibrium of a bilateral agreement between the representative of industries (association of firms) and government will be analysed to confirm if cost minimization strategies by the association result in a sub-game perfect Nash Equilibrium. This is followed by an analysis of a multilateral agreement among the members of the association to see how the equilibrium and efficiency conditions change. We tried to find some implications that the result of the analysis casts on the environmental policy matters.

  • Software Reliability implemented in software development is one of the most important issues. In finite failure NHPP software reliability models for software failure analysis, the hazard function that means a failure rate may have constant independently for failure time, non-increasing or non-decreasing pattern. In this study, software development cost analysis considering the variable shape parameter of Erlang distribution as the failure life distribution in the software product testing process was studied. The software failure model was applied finite failure Non-Homogeneous Poisson Procedure and the parameters approximation using maximum likelihood estimation was accompanied. Thus, this paper was presented comparative analysis by applying a software failure time data to the software, considering the shape parameter of Erlang distribution for development cost model analysis. When compared to the cost curve in accordance with the shape parameter, the model of smaller shape can be seen that the optimal software release time delay and more cost. Through this study, it is thought that it can serve as a preliminary information which can basically help the software developers to search for development cost according to software shape parameters.

The Processing of Spatial Joins using a Bit-map Approximation (비트맵 근사 표현을 이용한 효율적인 공간 조인)

  • This paper studies on the processing of spatial joins. The spatial join operation is divided into filters and refinement steps in general. The processing of spatial joins can be greatly improved by the use of filters that reduce the polygons in order to find the intersecting ones. As a result, three possible sets of answers are identified: the positive one, the negative one and the inconclusive one. To identify all the interesting pairs of polygons with inconclusive answers, it is necessary to have access to the representation of polygons so that an exact geometry test can take place. We introduce a bit-map approximation technique to drastically reduce the computation required by the refinement step during refinement processing. Bit-map representation are used for the description of the internal, the external and the boundary regions of the polygon objects. The proposed scheme increases the chance of trivial acceptance and rejection of data objects, and reduces unnecessary disk accesses in query processing. It has been shown that the reference to the object data file can be cut down by as much as 60%.
