As design trends has changed to have flexible aft hull structure, increased power output and stiffer shafting system, owners and classification societies have more concerned about shaft alignment. In the shaft alignment analysis, there are many uncertainties which are related in propeller generated force, bearing stiffness, crank shaft model and etc. in this study, it is focused on the effect of crankshaft model by comparing between equivalent model and actual crankshaft model.

In most multi-stage forging processes, the die spotting process or alignment of punch and die depends on the manual operation. It results a very tedious and inefficient procedure, thus the proper measurement system is needed to improve productivity and accuracy. This paper proposes a measurement system for alignment of die and punch which has a cylindrical holder, and describes the system concepts using 3 eddy-current displacement transducers and precise measurement jig. In order to apply this measurement system to real situations, the measuring procedures and system calibration method, etc. are proposed. Finally, the accuracy and productivity of this measurement system are investigated in this paper.
The characteristics of the response time and the viewing angle on twisted nematic (TN) liquid crystal display (LCD) and amorphous (a)-TN-LCD without rubbing were investigated. To measure the tansmission-voltage, response time, and viewing angle characteristics, we prepared three kinds of LC cells and then studied the surface liquid crystal alignment effect. It was found that the response time on A-TN-LCD was fast compared to the TN-I-CD, and the weak anchoring strength was attributed to the fast response time on a-TN-LCD. Also, we obtained the wide viewing angle characteristics on a-TN-LCD. The liquid crystal alignment of LCD device for electro-optical characteristics is discussed in the present paper.
The ontology alignment has two kinds of major problems. First, the features used for ontology alignment are usually defined by experts, but it is highly possible for some critical features to be excluded from the feature set. Second, the semantic and the structural similarities are usually computed independently, and then they are combined in an ad-hoc way where the weights are determined heuristically. This paper proposes the modified parse tree kernel (MPTK) for ontology alignment. In order to compute the similarity between entities in the ontologies, a tree is adopted as a representation of an ontology. After transforming an ontology into a set of trees, their similarity is computed using MPTK without explicit enumeration of features. In computing the similarity between trees, the approximate string matching is adopted to naturally reflect not only the structural information but also the semantic information. According to a series of experiments with a standard data set, the kernel method outperforms other structural similarities such as GMO. In addition, the proposed method shows the state-of-the-art performance in the ontology alignment.
One of the main issues in comparative genomics is to study chromosomal gene order in one or more related species. For this purpose, the whole genome alignment is usually applied to find the horizontal gene transfer, gene duplication, and gene loss between two related genomes. Also it is well known that the novel visualization tool with whole genome alignment is greatly useful for us to understand genome organization and evolution process. There are a lot of algorithms and visualization tools already proposed to find the "gene clusters" on genome alignments. But due to the huge size of whole genome, the previous visualization tools are not convenient to discover the relationship between two genomes. In this paper, we propose AlignScope, a novel visualization system for whole genome alignment, especially useful to find gene clusters between two aligned genomes. This AlignScope not only provides the simplified structure of genome alignment at any simplified level, but also helps us to find gene clusters. In experiment, we show the performance of AlignScope with several microbial genomes such as B. subtilis, B.halodurans, E. coli K12, and M. tuberculosis H37Rv, which have more than 5000 alignment pairs (matched DNA subsequence).
This study discusses developing ecological trails and route alignment in mountainous rural area. Through a process of ecological resources survey, ecological trails and route alignment has been established. Mainly, by focusing on ecological resources in rural areas, it was indifferent to their own ecological resource and charm to make it unique strengths. Based on survey the results, Natural ecology resources, there were the climate factor, surface, geological, terrain analysis. Furthermore, ecological resources were researched and analyzed the elements of it, distribution of resources, types, location, semantic analysis. The results are expressed on the map and recorded by taking pictures. Plant ecosystem, there were actual vegetation, land use, flora analysis. Wild animal ecosystem, it was checked and recorded on 1/1,000 map partition the emergence of wild birds, the number of species distributed by foraging guild, the emergence of amphibians, reptile, mammals and insect species. The site is chosen as rural theme village in 2007, base on their own rich ecological and landscape resources. Therefore, we carried out ecological trails and route alignment plan in accordance with analyzed the natural ecological resource and after setting up the basic goal, ecological trail has been composed and planting has done and direction.

The alignment modifications after completion of railway construction entail a lot of efforts and time as well as high additional costs. In the process of renewal of the existing railway alignment to offer higher-speed services, the effect of initial design parameters(e.g., intersection angle) on determination of allowable degree of improvement of horizontal curves under consideration of economic efficiency is investigated in this study. From the analysis results, in the case that there are obstacles at the tangent line, it was found that the larger angle of intersection has a significant effect on the permissible zone. In addition, as the intersection angle is increased, the permissible values of maximum curve radius and the length of transition curve becomes smaller and longer, respectively. It is expected that this study can contribute to the efficient and accurate prediction of the permissible zone according to the locations of obstacles and the size of intersection angle as well as improvement in the railway alignment without any additional costs.

Roads have been developed throughout the history of mankind, and play a significant role among many traffic facilities for the economy, politics and cultures of our lives. However, the management of roads has not been fully scientific or systematic due to governmental policies focused on construction resulting in damages, and the loss of drawings for existing roads. In this case, it is difficult to manage roads using normal cadastre due to its time consuming work. And, when applying satellite surveying to rapidly extract the centerline of roads, it is impossible to obtain data about the status of internal tunnels. Therefore, this study can be used to extract optimum alignment data of tunnels using the data from satellite surveying, and is a practical paper which can contribute to efficient management and usage of alignment data and road facilities in establishing a HMS(Highway Management System) for the renewal and management of the alignment data of roads, by comparing the data from satellites with the alignment data in existing drawings.
This study attempts to verify the reliability of automatically generated segment labels as compared to those obtained by conventional labelling by hand. First of all, an autolabeller is constructed using the standard HMM speech recognition technique. For evaluation, we compare the automatically generated labels with manually annotated labels for the same speech data. The comparison is performed by calculating the temporal difference between an autolabel boundary and its corresponding hand label boundary. When the mismatched duration between two labels falls within 10 msec, we consider the autolabel as correct. The results suggest that overall 78% of autolabels are correctly obtained. It is found that the boundary of obstruents is better aligned than that of sonorants and vowels. In case of stop sound classes, strong stops in manner-of-articulation wise and velar stops in place-of-articulation wise show better performance in boundary alignment. The result suggests that more phone-specific consideration is necessary to improve autosegmentation performance.

This paper proposes a framework to automatically align Dental range image captured by depth sensors like the Microsoft Kinect. Aligning dental images by intraoral scanning technology is a difficult problem for applications requiring accurate model of dental-scan datasets with efficiency in computation time. The most important thing in dental scanning system is accuracy of the dental prosthesis. Previous approaches in intraoral scanning uses a Z-buffer ICP algorithm for fast registration, but it is relatively not accurate and it may cause cumulative errors. This paper proposes additional Alignment using the rough result comes after intraoral scanning alignment. It requires that Each Depth Image of the total set shares some overlap with at least one other Depth image. This research implements the automatically additional alignment system that aligns all depth images into Completed model by computing a network of pairwise registrations. The order of the each individual transformation is derived from a global network and AABB box overlap detection methods.
