  • More than 25% of software copyright evaluations commissioned to the Korea Copyright Commission are software completeness-defective evaluations. Most of the existing software completeness-defective evaluation cases were made to ensure that the requirements contained in the contract or customer's desired requirements were implemented and able to run, limited to the functionality of the software. This paper proposes a more systematic and reasonable maturity-correction technique to meet software completeness definitions. The ISO / IEC 9241.10 standard is a design standard for improving software quality. The ISO / IEC 9241.10 standard specifies seven items that must be complied with and requires functional integrity for work and operational integrity for work efficiency. The software completeness-defective methodology presented in this paper complements the existing function's implementation-functioning methodology with completeness evaluation on the quality of software.

  • Herein, we propose a novel method to create multidirectional and multilevel pointing input using only a hardware keyboard. The relative position vectors among pressed keys are calculated into an input vector. The pointing performance of this method is evaluated based on the ISO 9241-9 recommendations. We find that the performance of the method is sufficient to create moderate pointing input, as the measurement of the throughput is close to that of a touchpad, as measured in past studies also using the ISO 9241-9 recommendations.

  • The objective of this paper is to compare two national guidelines on the VDT work management published by Ministry of Labor(MOL) and Korean Standard(KS), and suggest possible modifications of them. The scope of this paper was limited to the desktop type of VDT jobs, excluding laptop environment. In addition, questionnaires were administered to office workers to collect information on the discomfort levels in meeting the MOL Notification. From ergonomic point of view, the most noticeable differences between two guidelines were found with respect to the heights of chairs and desks. In fact, the ranges specified in each guideline were not the same. In the field surveys, it could be known that work environments should be improved.

  • This study is to propose the characteristics that a desirable quality, especially usability, evaluation method of hospital information systems(HIS) should possess. This study reviews the literature recently published in the academic journals which are in the Science Citation Index or registered by the Korean Research Foundation. Especially, the International Journal of Medical Informatics was the valuable source, providing almost 20 literature. The results reveal the need to develop a domain-specific usability evaluation method that reflects the uniqueness of hospital industry. The results show user-centeredness and context-orientedness are the indispensible characteristics of a HIS quality evaluation method too.

  • This study is a measurement of effectiveness to a job process for the hospital information system (HIS) used in the hospital industry. Using the effectiveness scale that I developed in the questionnaire of the ISO9241-11 quality model, I measured the importance level of HIS and its significance on a job practices in the large general hospitals within the country. The questionnaire showed that the importance level of domestic HISs was highest in the system used by staffs(mean=3) and to reduce a job process and increase the efficiency of work.

  • In this study, we assessed the performance of the test remote pointing device that is applicable to interactive TV (iTV). An empirical test was carried out with the pointing devices in three different interface methods that are recently tried in the industry. For the measurement, a directional task was performed on the linear track described in the conventional ISO 9241-Part 9. The measured variables included the movement time, accuracy, throughput and the subjective satisfaction. The result showed that the motion time was better in the device in the GyroPoint method than the other devices, but the accuracy of the GyroPoint device was lower than that of the devices in the Hall Mouse and OFN methods. It was found that the throughput and the subjective satisfaction were dependent upon the individual input devices. Since this study was conducted on the major point devices that are currently tried and analyzed the problems and characteristics, it is assumed that this study will provide useful data for the design of the remote pointing device that is more suitable to the iTV environment.

  • Along with the development of communication technology, DTV is gradually evolving into media that provide diverse services and information. This study is related with remote controls that control DTV interfaces and assessed the usability of remote pointing device. To this end, pointing devices using three different interaction methods that have been attempted recently by the industry were selected to conduct empirical experiments. The usability assessment was conducted centering on the existing directional task on straight tracks presented in ISO 9241-Part 9 and the steering tunnel task on curved tracks proposed in this study. The measurement variables included movement time, accuracy, throughput, subjective satisfaction and user behaviors. Based on the results of the assessment, in the case of movements on straight tracks, the GyroPoint method showed better implementing time but lower accuracy compared to the Hall Mouse and OFN methods while in the case of assessment on curved tracks, all of the GyroPoint method, Hall Mouse and OFN methods showed excellent results on both implementing time and accuracy. Besides, differences in efficiency and subjective satisfaction were shown among individual pointing devices. Based on these results, it is considered that individual pointing methods have different advantageous and disadvantageous characteristics. In this study, the usability of remote control pointing methods was assessed and diagnosed reflecting environments where DTVs are used through assessments considering the aspect of straight tracks along with curved tracks. Among others, this study is considered to be meaningful in that it provides assessment criteria and basic data for the development of remote controls suitable for the evolving DTV environments.

  • This study is a development of quality scale and a measurement of quality levels for the Hospital Information System(HIS) used in the hospital industry. This study is to provide decision-making guidelines for hospital managers, system analysts, and software designers, and to provide feedback for the users' information needs. The target people of the study were medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and clerical staff. The service contexts of usability were diagnosis/treatment, nursing, medicine preparation, and treatment fee receipt/claim. The quality factors were the efficiency, effectiveness, and satisfaction of IS09241-11. This study shows that the current domestic HISs are mostly based on patient diagnosis/treatment and treatment fee accounting, and that other quality scales are necessary according to different job categories, specializations, positions, and service domains. Especially, the low quality of HIS was found in the abnormal service processing, information sharing by outside institutions, and standardization. It may be added that the HIS should be improved and developed in these respects.
