N-ISDN의 대중화 및 활성화를 위해서 연구 개발한 회선 및 패킷 통신 기능을 지원하는 N-ISDN 접속용 PC 카드로서, NT(Network Terminator)및 TA(Terminal Adapter) 기능을 하며, PC에서 다중 통신이 가능하도록 한다. 음성 통화중 다양한 ISDN 서비스를 이용 가능하도록 하며, 64kbps로 인터넷 접속을 할 수 있다. 또한 전용선 없이 ISDN을 통해 64kbps로 패킷망에 접속하여 데이터 통신이 가능하도록 하는 등 협대역 ISDN 통신 기능을 지원한다.

최근 ISDN 이 통신분야 전문가들의 주된 관심대상으로 등장하면서, 이에 대한 개념정립, 실현방법, 서비스와 장비 등의 표준화 문제에 많은 노력을 투입하고 있다. 표준화 업무는 CCITT가 주관하고, 확정된 결과는 권고안으로 발간된다. 권고안의 구성은 ISDN 이 전화망으로 부터 발전해 간다는 본질성을 감안하여 기존의 전화망(특히 IDN)권고에다 ISDN 전문권고를 첨가하는 형식을 취하고 있다. 전문권고는 SG18에서 제정하고, 전화망권고를 ISDN 으로 사용하기 위해 개정이 필요한 사항은 여타의 SG 들이 관장해오고 있다. 여기서는 1981-1984 연구회기중에 이루어진 ISDN 권고 요지와 이를 형성하는 기본개념들의 흐름을 분석한다.

B-ISDN is expected to be a main vehicle of future telecommunications. There has been a series fo studies on the demand and the market prospect of B-ISDN services. It is true, however, that they lacked some economic reality since the price of services has been overlooked which is a critical economic factor. In this study, we analyze some aspects of the tariff system of B-ISDN services. First, we explore and summarize the billing parameters of B-ISDN services from diverse characteristics of services and ATM network. These parameters are essential if the services are to be charged based on usage. Secondly, we discuss what factors be considered in the design fo B-ISDN services tariff systems from various points of view shch as traffic charactristics, information types and connection types, etc. The results of this study will offer fundamental insights in the design of B-ISDN service pricing scheme and provide reference for efficient services providing.

기존의 공중전기 통신망들이 B-ISDN으로 통합, 발전되어 가는 과정에서 경제성 및 효율성 등의 이유로 인해 필연적으로 기존망과 연동과정이 필요하게 되며, 이러한 B-ISDN 통신망의 연동계획은 가능한 최적의 통신망 진화전략에 부합되어야 하고, 다양한 기술의 응용 가능성을 제한하지 않도록 수립되어야 하며, 또한 기존망의 기능을 수용하면서 구현될 수 있는 방안이 마련되어야 한다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 B-ISDN과 N-ISDN의 망간 연동 프로토콜을 설계하고 설계한 프로토콜을 워크스테이션 상에서 구현하였으며, 구현한 프로토콜이 표준 규격과 일치하게 동작하는지 테스트하기 위하여 적합성 테스트 중 오류 검출 능력이 우수한 국부시험 방법을 이용하여 구현된 프로토콜이 정상적으로 동작함을 확인하였다.

The evolution of telecommunications has raised the profile of many segments of the network that were not previously considered important. Until recently, basic telephony existed with the extension of passive cables without any particular user network interface. In the area of data communications, the introduction of flexible packet switching has allowed the network to evolve in a far more efficient manner. To overcome such separated network problems and business needs of both users and network providers, the integrated narrowband ISDN concept is being developed in most countries for implementation in the public switched telephone network (PSTN). The targets of ISDN, in my opinion, can be explained as follows : To the user, ISDN should provide the services at any time, at any place, through any media. To the business customer using PABX or LAN applications, ISDN should introduce customized services rapidly and also, ISDN should be developed by the modular hardware and software design approach in order for new services to be introduced rapidly and effectively. Software can be also developed by non-expert local staff to cater for adopting new user's service requirements immediately. Finally, ISDN will be able to increase business chances and benefit both users and operating companies.

ISDN(Integrated Services Digital Network) 개념의 도입은 기존의 회선교환망이나 패킷교환망과 같은 단일망에 대한 전통적인 트래픽 엔지니어링에 많은 문제점들을 제시하여 주고 있다. 즉, 가입자간 정보전송 속도 및 트래픽 특성의 다양화, 신호와 정보의 분리, 교환접속방식의 다양화 등 복잡하며 다양한 특성을 가진 ISDN 교환기의 트래픽 해석은 전통적인 큐잉이론 및 트래픽 이론을 직접 적용하는데 많은 제한 사항이 따른다. 그러므로 ISDN 교환기의 트래픽을 해석하기 위해서는 새로운 이론정립과 아울러 새로운 ISDN 트래픽 변수들을 도출하여 특성을 해석해야 할것이다. 이런 목적하에서 본고에서는 ISDN 트래픽 특성 및 성능, ISDN 트래픽이 교환기에 미치는 영향, CPE(Customer Premises Equipment)의 offered 트래픽 및 ISDN 교환기의 트래픽 엔지니어링 등에 관해 기술하였다.

ISDN 교환기에서 패킷서비스를 제공하기 위하여 CCITT X.31이 권고되었으며, 사용자와 패킷처리간 B 채널 혹은 D 채널로 서비스된다. ISDN용으로 개발되는 TDX-10에 패킷교환기능을 제공하기 위해 X.31에 근거를 두며, DTE와 DCE 접속용으로 권고된 X.25 프로토콜의 팻킷레벨처리를 TDX-10 ISDN 환경에 적합하도록 설계하였다.

ISDN, the beginning of broadband and multimedia service, is a digital network that provides integrated end-to-end digital telecommunication services for transmissions of different kinds of information, from voice and facsimiles to data and images. In Japan, Britain and U. S there has been shown the demand of ISDN is considerable and ISDN technology is becoming quite stable. Furthermore,their ISDN service experience helps them to set up and carry out the marketing strategies for Internet access services such as ADSL, Cable Modem and WLL, etc. This paper examines and compares services, charge and discount scheme of ISDN across 14 telecommunication carriers. It can be utilize as a reference for diffusing ISDN as well as developing Internet access services and marketing strategies.

ISDN의 효율적 활용을 위해서는 다양한 가입자 서어비스를 제공할 수 있는 terminal의 개발이 선결되어야 한다. 본 논문의 ISDN가입자-망 간 접속에 관한 2편의 논문중 제2부로서 ISDN가입자 단말장치의 일반적 관련요소에 대한 연구를 수행하였으며 ISDN이 제공할 수 있는 서어비스 중 가장 간단한 예로 전화 서어비스를 위한 stimulus mode type의 digital telephone을 설계, 제작하여 그 성능을 고찰하여 보았다. 본 digital telephone은 ECM(Echo Cancellation Method)방식을 사용하여 network에 접속되며 user-network간 신호방식으로 CCITT의 I.440-441에서 권고하는 LAPD Protocol을 채택하였고 소규모 ISDN교환 emulator와의 연동을 통하여 관련된 S/W 및 H/W개발의 타당성을 검증하였다. 또한 digital telephone으로서의 기본 기능인 음성의 디지틀화, man-machine interface등이 실현되었다.

기존의 전전자교환기에 ISDN 기능을 부가하게 되면 가입자 모듈의 구조적인 변화가 따르게 되어 시스팀의 성능에 영향을 미치게 된다. 따라서 이러한 성능의 변화가 발생하지 않도록 시스팀을 설계하는 것이 중요하다. 본 논문은 음성급 전전자교환기인 TDX-LB 시스템에 ISDN기능을 추가 개발함에 따라 예상되는 디지틀 가입자 모듈의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 해석적인 방법으로 목표만을 확인하고, 개발된 시스팀의 성능을 측정하여 기존의 음성 시스팀과 비교함으로서 ISDN 가입자 정합 기술이 시스팀 성능에 미친 영향을 분석 하였다.
