  • In this paper, we purpose automatic diagnosis in online, as the fundamental study to diagnose the partial discharge mechanism and to predict the lifetime, by introduction a neural network. In the proposed method, Ire use acoustic emission sensing system and calculate a fixed quantity statistic operator by pulse number and amplitude. Using statically operators such as the center of gravity(G) and the gradient of the discharge distribute(C), we analyzed the early stage and the middle stage. the fixed quantity statistic operators are learned by a neural network. The diagnosis of insulation degradation and a lifetime prediction by the early stage time are achieved. On the basis of revealed excellent diagnosis ability through the neural network learning for the patterns during degradation, it was proved that the neural network is appropriate for degradation diagnosis and lifetime prediction in partial discharge.

  • Class AB bipolar linear transconductors for high frequency applications ire proposed. They consist of a voltage follower, a resistor, and a current follower. The follower circuits are realized by translinear cells or unity-gain buffers. The proposed transconductors are simulated using an 8 GHz bipolar transistor-arrary parameter. Simulation results show that the transconductor using translinear cells has better linearity than one using unity-gain buffers whereas the latter has better temperature stability and higher input resistance than the former. In order to test their high frequency applicability, the transconductors are used to implement an 4th order IF bandpass filter.

  • Scheduling technology is one of the most important elements required to support the Quality of service (QoS) in the Internet and a lot of scheduling algorithms have been developed. However, most of these algorithms ire not flexible to distribute the excess bandwidth. In order to provide flexibility for distributing the excess bandwidth, we proposed excess bandwidth fair queueing (EBFQ) algorithm with relatively low complexity. In this paper, we propose the new extension to this EBFQ algorithm for the hierarchical fair queueing system. This extension can be naturally applied to the existing hierarchical algorithm and simultaneously provide the same level of fairness. Through the simulation and analysis, we verify it.

  • In eukaryotes, ER stress induces UPR (unfolded protein response) via IRE1 activation which sends a molecular signal for XBP1 mRNA splicing in the cytosol. During this mRNA splicing, 23 nt removed in which contains PstI site and then resulting XBP1 product is not digested with PstI restriction enzyme. In this study, using this XBP1 mRNA splicing mechanism, the effect of heat shock on thyrocytes is studied, because heat shock response in the thyrocytes needs more study to understand thyroid physiology under alternative environments. ER inducible drugs (tunicamycin, DTT, $Ca^{2+}$ ionopore A23187, BFA) induce ER stress in the thyrocytes. From 3 hours after heat shock, ER stress is induced and which is reversible when heat shock is without. While $Ca^{2+}$ ionopore A23187 is reversible from ER stress by washing out the drug, thapsigagin is irreversible. Other ER inducible drugs are not so sensitive to ER stress repairing. XBP1 mRNA splicing in a cell is very available method to detect ER stress. It needs only a small quantity of total RNA and processing also very easy.

  • Endoplasmic Reticulum (ER) is an organelle where most secretory and membrane proteins are synthesized, folded, and undergo further maturation. As numerous conditions can perturb such ER function, eukaryotic cells are equipped with responsive signaling pathways, widely referred to as the Unfolded Protein Response (UPR). Chronic conditions of ER stress that cannot be fully resolved by UPR, or conditions that impair UPR signaling itself, are associated with many metabolic and degenerative diseases. In recent years, Drosophila has been actively employed to study such connections between UPR and disease. Notably, the UPR pathways are largely conserved between Drosophila and humans, and the mediating genes are essential for development in both organisms, indicating their requirement to resolve inherent stress. By now, many Drosophila mutations are known to impose stress in the ER, and a number of these appear similar to those that underlie human diseases. In addition, studies have employed the strategy of overexpressing human mutations in Drosophila tissues to perform genetic modifier screens. The fact that the basic UPR pathways are conserved, together with the availability of many human disease models in this organism, makes Drosophila a powerful tool for studying human disease mechanisms. • The miniature pig is a very suitable donor species in xenotransplantation of human organs. Intestine ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and apoptosis has been associated with the onset of diverse diseases. Thus, we examined the effect of intestine I/R on the expression of ER stress and apotptosis related molecules. In the present study, I/R induced phosphorylation of protein kinase-like endoplasmic reticulum kinase (PERK), IRE, and ATF-4. I/R also increased the expression of the proapoptotic transcription factor CAAT/enhancer-binding protein homologous protein (CHOP). In addition, I/R decreased the expression of Bcl-2, but increased the expression of Bax, cleaved PARP, and cleaved caspase-3. Moreover, I/R increased splicing form of XBP-1 mRNA and the expression of caspase-6 and caspase-3 mRNA. In conclusion, intestine I/R induced ER stress and apoptosis in miniature pig.

  • Atherosclerosis preferentially involves in prone area of low and disturbed blood flow while steady and high levels of laminar blood flow are relatively protected from atherosclerosis. Disturbed flow induces endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and the unfolded protein response (UPR). ER stress is caused under stress that disturbs the processing and folding of proteins resulting in the accumulation of misfolded proteins in the ER and activation of the UPR. Prolonged or severe UPR leads to activate apoptotic signaling. Recent studies have indicated that disturbed flow significantly up-regulated $p-ATF6{\alpha}$, $p-IRE1{\alpha}$, and its target spliced XBP-1. However, the role of laminar flow in ER stress-mediated endothelial apoptosis has not been reported yet. The present study thus investigated the role of laminar flow in ER stress-dependent endothelial cell death. The results demonstrated that laminar flow protects ER stress-induced cleavage forms of PARP-1 and caspase-3. Also, laminar flow inhibits ER stress-induced $p-eIF2{\alpha}$, ATF4, CHOP, spliced XBP-1, ATF6 and JNK pathway; these effects are abrogated by pharmacological inhibition of PI3K with wortmannin. Finally, nitric oxide affects thapsigargin-induced cell death in response to laminar flow but not UPR. Taken together, these findings indicate that laminar flow inhibits UPR and ER stress-induced endothelial cell death via PI3K/Akt pathway.

  • An application of concrete track is being actively processed for the construction of Korean railroad. The concrete track has an advantage to decrease the maintenance ire, but is very difficult system to maintain after earthwork settlement occurred. Therefore, the management and control of embankment and foundation settlement is very important for the successful concrete track construction. We expect that the main part of the settlement of the concrete track is the one of embankment and foundation supporting it. Settlements vulnerable to the concrete track among the causes of lots of settlements are primary consolidation and secondary compression settlement of foundation, creep settlement of embankment, settlement caused by train load, and unequal settlement resulting from the difference of embankment material and construction process. This paper investigated the settlement causes to make badly effects on the concrete track and also evaluated the settlement with field tests and numerical analysis.

  • This paper assesses the models in the SCDAP code using the results of the FLHT-2 test. Calculations show that the SCDAP correctly predicts Ire temperatures, oxidation front movement, overall hydrogen generation and peak generation rate, internal fuel rod pressure, and cladding rupture due to ballooning. A comparison of the calculated results with measured data shows that two phase level is underpredicted, and that radiation heat transfer and auto-catalytic reaction temperature of zircaloy are overpredicted. These models are recommended to be modified. The analysis also shows that the simulation of the gap in a fuel rod improves the code prediction on core damage progression.

  • Highly positive correlations were obtained between the growth duration of the 1978 IReTN entries in Chuncheon, Korea and all the experimental sites in 7 other countries. Among the entries the photoperiod responsive varieties had very long growth duration in Chuncheon although relatively early in flowering in the other low latitude sites. Selection under Korean conditions would eliminate the short growth duration varieties caused by photoperiod sensitivity in tropics or sub tropics. Except for photoperiod sensitive rices, selection of varieties or lines for optimum growth duration before further evaluation in other low temperature areas would be most effective in Chuncheon, Korea.
