  • The purpose of this study is to observe the effect of high pull headgear on the craniofacial structures of mixed dentition with Class II malocclusion. The cephalometric headplates of 16 children treated by high pull headgeaar during 6 months and 18 children during 12 months were traced, digitized and statistically analyzed. The results were as follows. 1. Inhibition of foreward growth of maxilla was observed in both group. 2. Clockwise rotation of maxilla was observed in both group. 3. There were distal movement of maxillary 1st molar and inhibition of alveolar bone growth of maxilla. 4. There was compensatory extrusion on mandibular 1st molar. 5. The ratio of anterior facial height to posterior facial height was almostly not changed. In the treatment plan of C II malocclusion by high pull headgear, ire must prevent the mandibulasr 1st molar from extruding and for orthopedic effect, at least 6 months is needed.

  • Shape design optimization of shell structure is implemented on a basis of integrated framework of geometric modeling and finite element analysis which is constructed on the geometrically exact shell theory. This shell theory enables more accurate and robust analysis for complicated shell structures, and it fits for the nature of B-spline function which Is popular modeling scheme in CAD field. Shape of laminated composite shells is optimized through genetic algorithm and sequential linear programming, because there ire numerous optima for various configurations, constraints, and searching paths. Sequential adaptation of global and local optimization makes the process more efficient. Two different optimized results of laminated composite shell structures to minimize strain energy are shown for different layup sequence.

  • It is called vehicle pull when a vehicle drifts in the lateral direction under the straight-ahead motion with no steering or external input. Recently vehicle pull draws attention as one of the critical evaluation items from the customers on the vehicle quality. It is generally recognized that the vehicle pull is complex phenomena due to internal and external factors. In this paper the relations between vehicle pull and ire were investigated through close survey on the road test results from the final inspection of car manufactures. Through this investigation the factors are identified which play an important role in causing vehicle pull problem.

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the torque effect of othodontic wires. Ten types of orthodontic wires (five types of materials, two types of cross-sectional dimensions) were selected. Each group of ire type was constituted with five specimens. These specimens were tested on the universal testing machine(Instron) with specially-designed jig. The torque-twist curve of each wire was obtained and the results were analyzed statistically. The results were as follows. 1. 0.017'$\times$ 0.025' wire showed more torque effect than 0.016'$\times$ 0.022' wire at the same twist. 2.Torque effect was the greatest in stainless steel and the least in Nitinol. 3.The maximum amount of torque was the greatest in heat-treated Blue Elgiloy and the least in Nitinol.

  • To control the spread of surface fire in the rangelands and to check the entry of fire into forest systems from grassland patches, 26 evergreen / succulent species were selected and among them 3 shrubby species such as Berberis tintoria Lesch, Elaeagnus kologa Schlecht and Rhodomyrtus tomentosa Wt. were screened for vegetational fire breaks on the basis of leaf moisture content and some other ecological characters. The fire trail experiments indicate that crossing of fire was checked by the fire belt size of 5 ${\times}$ 1.5m for all the three species. However, due to higher fire retardant capacity, the Ire belt of R. tomentosa was effective in comparison to other two species.

  • This experiment was performed to study the effect of TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone) on the expression of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) chaperones in the rat thyrocytes FRTL-5 cells. Although the expressions of ER membrane kinases (ATF6, IRE1 and PERK) were specially enhanced under absence of TSH, no remarkable up- or down regulations of ER chaperones (BiP, CHOP and Calnexin) were detected by TSH. We firstly report here that TSH by dose up-regulated expression of ER membrane kinases in FRTL-5 culture thyrocytes.

  • The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a multifunctional intercellular organelle in which several posttranslational modification steps occurred such as protein folding, lipid biosynthesis, calcium storage and release. Perturbations that disrupt ER homeostasis lead to the misfolding of proteins in the ER lumen and up-regulation of ER signaling pathway called the unfolded protein response (UPR). Here, we have demonstrated that ageing changes the expression of ER chaperone and associated ER membrane kinases of IRE1, ATF6 and PERK.

  • For lighting of dark and hazardous workplaces such as compartments of ships under construction, workers should use hand lamps of explosion-proof type. However, the heavy weight of such lamps has prevented most impatient workers from using such types of lamps extensively. In this paper, ire developed a light weight hand lamp of intrinsic safety type which reduced the weight a lot while maintaining or improving the lighting and explosion-proof function. We made a Prototype which consisted of lamp fixture and low/high frequency power supply. Testing results show that the hand lamp meets well all the explosion-proof testing requirements of the Korea Industrial Safety Corporation.

  • This paper describes the design, fabrication, and measured results of a W-band Cassegrain antenna suitable for the target detecting fuze sensor. The Cassegrain antenna is designed using MATLAB and MWS of CST. We use the multi-mode horn antenna as a feeder. The measurement results are as follows: The gain is about 41dB; SLL is 17.7dB; 3dB beamwidth is about $1.51^{\circ}$ in E-plane and $1.45^{\circ}$ in H-plane. The magnitude of leakage signals is about 43.5mVpp when the fabricated antenna and the transceiver of the fuze sensor ire combined. As a result, the designed W-band Cassegrain antenna could be quite applicable to the target detecting fuze sensor.

  • This paper investigates the effect of the conducted EMI Electromagnetic Interference and the switching loss which occurs from the switching devices in the switching period of the unipolar and limited unipolar switching circuits. The three main sources of conducted EMI and switching loss in the unipolar and limited unipolar switching circuit come from the switching devices, the number of switching times in the switching period and their switching waveform. In this paper, these three parameters are used to determine the conducted EMI which generated from the unipolar and limited unipolar switching circuits and to improve the limited unipolar switching circuit which uses the power MOSFET´s as the switching devices. The significant reduction of Ire conducted EMI ...
