In this study, We compared the properties of tinted and colored lenses with the standards m the ordinary optical properties, coloration, UV, IR and luminous transmittance, color acceptance for traffic signal, and chromaticity. The UV, lR and luminous transmittance was analysed in the range of 175 nm to 3000 nm by using a UV-Vis-IR spectrophotometer and was used in the synthesis of spectrum of various color lens. A experimental function was made from the slope obtained from the transmittance change as a function of coloration time. We could expect the ordinary optical properties and color acceptance for traffic signal of various color lenses with the requirements of US standard(ANSI Z-80.3).

(A hybrid-type wireless infrared data communication module was fabricated by using the light emitting andabsorption diodes with the one-chip of integrated digital circuits. The light emitting diode with the peak spectrum of 850 nm was made from compound semiconductor material of AIGaAs and shows high speed signal transmission with the delay time of 60 nsec for the light direction angle of 30". The Si PIN photodiode showsthe good absorption rate for the range of wavelength of 450-1050 nm and convex-type epoxy lens was utilized for the spectrum filtering on the visible-range spectrum below 750 nm, The data transmission speed is 115.2 kbps and the fabricated module satisfies on the IrDA 1.0 SIR standard requirements.)ments.)
Twyman-Green interferometer is developed for assessment of IR optical system performance. Light source is $CO_2$ gas laser which has 10.6$\mu \textrm m$ wavelength. The light beam is expanded to 2.5 cm dia by Ge lens and splitted by ZnSe parallel plane plate. One of the beams is reflected by refernce mirror which is operated PZT. The fringe will be detected by a pyro-electric vidicon camera and displayed by a CRT monitor. Here, the IR firinge is recorded on the thermal paper. In visible region, the light source is He-Ne laser. The fringe is detected by a CCD camera and displayed by the CRT monitor. The intensity of the fringe is digitized by a image card and processed by a PC. The wavefront aberration function, PSF and OTF are calculated. The results are displayed in 3-D graphs on the monitor or printed out by a line printer.
Infrared radiation (IR) refers to the region of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum where wavelengths range from about 700 nm to 1 mm. Any object with a temperature above absolute zero (0 K) radiates in the infrared region, and a material that transmits radiant energy in the range of 0.74 to 1.4 um is referred to as a near-infrared optical material. Germanate-based glass is attracting attention as a glass material for infrared optical lenses because of its simple manufacturing process. With the recent development of the glass molding press (GMP) process, thermal imaging cameras using oxide-based infrared lenses can be easily mass-produced, expanding their uses. To improve the mechanical and optical properties of commercial materials consisting of ternary systems, germanate-based heavy metal oxide glasses were prepared using a melt-cooling method. The fabricated samples were evaluated for thermal, structural, and optical properties using DSC, XRD, and XRF, respectively. To derive a composition with high glass stability for lens applications, ZnO and Sb2O3 were substituted at 0, 1, 2, 3, and 4 mol%. The glass with 1 mol% added Sb2O3 was confirmed to have the optimal conditions, with an optical transmittance of 80 % or more, a glass transition temperature of 660 ℃, a refractive index of 1.810, and a Vickers hardness of 558. The possibility of its application as an alternative infrared lens material to existing commercial materials capable of GMP processing was confirmed.
Silicone hydrogels incorporated with poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) were prepared and characterized to evaluate the effects of PEG on contact lenses. The silicone hydrogels were copolymerized with methacryloxypropyl tris(trimethylsiloxy) silane (TRIS), methyl methacrylate (MMA), N,N-dimethyl acrylamide (DMA) and PEG-containing monomers such as poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEG- MEM). The silicone hydrogels were characterized using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), electron spectroscopy of chemical analysis (ESCA), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Water absorbance, water contact angle and light transmittance of the silicone hydrogels were evaluated. The experiments of protein adsorption were also carried out to evaluate the protein adsorption in tears. The peak intensity of C-O bond was increased by the incorporation of PEG-containing monomers and thus PEG incorporation into silicone hydrogels could be confirmed. Phase separation was not shown by the SEM observation of the cross-section of silicone hydrogels. Water absorbancy was increased, while water contact angle and light transmittance were decreased with increasing incorporation of the PEG-containing monomers. The absorption of proteins in tears, albumin, lysozyme and $\gamma$-globulin, on the surface of silicone hydrogels was decreased with increasing incorporation of the PEG-containing monomers.
An NIR grism Si optical area sensor spectrometer with in-band reference wavelength is designed and fabricated. It is composed of a transmission type diffraction grating (spatial density 300 line/mm), a rectangular N-BK7 prism (apex angle 30 degree), NIR filter(cutoff wavelength 720 nm), an imaging convex lens(focal length 50 mm F1.8) and an IR modified DSLR camera (Canon EOS40D) of Si optical area sensor ($3,888{\times}2,592$ pixels, pixel size $5.710{\mu}m$). "In-band reference wavelength function" is implemented using non-dispersive 0th diffraction order optical beam. The NIR grism spectrometer is tested in a laboratory using a halogen lamp and a Neon lamp. And the spectrometer is used in an astronomy field for obtaining the planet Jupiter NIR spectrum. In-band reference wavelength i.e. un-deviation wavelength is 846 nm, an wavelength resolution is 0.3027 nm/pixel, an wavelength resolving power is 2,794 and an wavelength range is 650~1,000 nm.

Machining technique for optical crystals with single point diamond turning tool is reported in this paper. The main factors influencing the machined surface quality are studied and regularities of machining process are drawn. Optical crystals have been known to more and more important applications in the field of modern optics. Ge is more brittle material of poor machinability. The traditional machining method is polishing which has many shortcomings such as low production efficiency, poor ability to be automatically controlled and edge effect of the workpiece. The purpose of our research is to find the optimum machining conditions for ductile cutting of Ge and apply the SPDTM technique to the manufacturing of ultra precision optical components of Ge. As a result, the surface roughness is the best when cutting speed is 180m/min, feed rate is 2mm/min, depth of cut is $0.5{\mu}m$ and nose radius of tool is 0.8mm.
Chalcogenide glasses have been investigated in their thermodynamic, structural, and optical properties for application in various opto-electronic devices. In this study, the $Sb_{20}Se_{80-x}Ge_x$ with x = 10, 15, 20, and 25 were selected to investigate the glass stability according to germanium ratios. The thermal, structural, and optical properties of these glasses were measured by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and UV-Vis-IR Spectrophotometry, respectively. The DSC results revealed that $Ge_{20}Sb_{20}Se_{60}$ composition showing the best glass stability theoretically results due to a lower glass transition activation energy of 230 kJ/mol and higher crystallization activation energy of 260 kJ/mol. The structural and optical analyses of annealed thin films were carried out. The XRD analysis reveals obvious results associated with glass stabilities. The values of slope U, derived from optical analysis, offered information on the atomic and electronic configuration in Urbach tails, associated with the glass stability.
This paper describes a monocular PSD-based motion capture sensor to employ with commercial video game systems such as Microsoft's XBOX and Sony's Playstation II. The system compact, low-cost, and only requires a one-time calibration at the factory. The system includes a PSD(Position Sensitive Detector) and active infrared (IR) LED markers that are placed on the object to be tracked. The PSD sensor is placed in the focal plane of a wide-angle lens. The micro-controller calculates the 3D position of the markers using only the measured intensity and 2D position on the PSD. A series of experiments were performed to evaluate the performance of our prototype system. From the experimental results we see that the proposed system's compact size, low-cost, ease of installation, and high frame rates are suitable for high speed motion tracking in games.
We propose a new graphical method for selecting a pair of optical and housing materials to simultaneously athermalize and achromatize an LWIR optical system. To have a much better opportunity to select the IR glasses and housing materials, an athermal glass map is expanded by introducing the DOE with negative chromatic power. Additionally, from the depth of focus in an LWIR optical system, the tolerable housing boundary is provided to realize an athermal and achromatic system even for not readily available housing material. Thus, we can effectively determine a pair of optical and housing materials by reducing the thermal shift to be less than the depth of focus. By applying this method to design a night vision camera lens, the chromatic and thermal defocuses are reduced to less than the depth of focus, over the specified waveband and temperature ranges.
