Due to the advance of broadband communication networks including the Internet, the release of diverse media, and the busy life cycle of modern people, it became difficult to watch TV programs strictly according to the program schedule. Instead, demand to download and watch the programs at any time on TV is increasing. In order to meet the demand, terrestrial DTV broadcasters developed a TV service which provides various on-demand contents by integrating terrestrial DTV network and the Internet without enforcing viewers to subscribe broadcasting services such as IPTV or CableTV, and standardized it as OHTV(Open Hybrid TV). In this paper, we explain the current status of OHTV standard and worldwide hybrid TV services and their technical standards. We also provide a strategy for the next version of OHTV standard in order to enhance the value of OHTV.
In this paper, we attempted to theorize the synergy effect between the value creating attributes for digital convergence model in the service industry. Our investigation is based upon contingency fit theory to understand the strategic fit for the two inherent value attributes of fixed and mobile value, as well as resolving fundamental limitations of service processes. Empirical validation of the derived research model is analyzed using hierarchical regression method. The results indicate that the relative advantage of each value creating attributes are strongly associated with the characteristics of domain service industries, and compatibility is critical to user adoption of convergent service model. Moreover, the less significant statistical impact of the synergy between mobile and fixed value attributes and others implies that each value attribute uniquely contributes to particular IT convergence model, which thereby offers critical insight that focusing the convergent value in conjunction with specific application domain is the most appealing managerial focus. The findings provide useful insight for the further research in IT based industry convergent business model areas.

Digital Content Marketplace based on Interactive Media is defmed as the marketplace for content service between contents supplier and consumer through iDTV environment. This Marketplace is increasing interest to u-Life service with Digital Environment. To Interactive Media, it can contribute to enhance its effectiveness by developing various contents and service model in the initial phase of broadcasting-communication convergence. This study designed metadata using Digital Content marketplace based on Interactive Media. Specially the matadata designing include recommendation-tag for supply supplementary content. It can support self-directed action. Through basic metadata with weight value, it is designed to support supplementary content customer to want on the marketplace. Recommendation-System can be built by many method and to recommend the service content including explicit properties using collaborative filtering method can solve limitations in existing content recommendation.

As a demand of IP based packet service is increasing, transport network is evolving from circuit based transport technology using TDM to Ethernet based packet transport technology. In this paper we introduce packet transport network based on PBB-TE and MPLS-TP and propose a quality of service(QoS) management scheme to satisfy various user requirements in packet transport network. The proposed flow-based QoS management scheme guarantees that per-flow bandwidth control satisfies the predefined QoS requirement perfectly under bandwidth congestion condition by using perflow and per-PTL tunnel management. In order to evaluate the proposed scheme we defined flow and PTL tunnel per input frame and configured QoS parameters for each flow and PTL tunnel respectively. Simulation was done by using OPNET modeler 16.0 version.
Recently, various devices requiring text input such as mobile phone IPTV, PDA and UMPC are emerging. The frequency of text entry for them is also increasing. This study was focused on the evaluation of Korean text entry interface. Various models to evaluate text entry interfaces have been proposed. Most of models were based on human cognitive process for text input. The cognitive process was divided into two components; visual scanning process and finger movement process. The time spent for visual scanning process was modeled as Hick-Hyman law, while the time for finger movement was determined as Fitts' law. There are three questions on the model-based evaluation of text entry interface. Firstly, are human cognitive processes (visual scanning and finger movement) during the entry of text sequentially occurring as the models. Secondly, is it possible to predict real text input time by previous models. Thirdly, does the human cognitive process for text input vary according to users' text entry speed. There was time gap between the real measured text input time and predicted time. The time gap was larger in the case of participants with high speed to enter text. The reason was found out investigating Eye-Hand Coordination during text input process. Differently from an assumption that visual scan on the keyboard is followed by a finger movement, the experienced group performed both visual scanning and finger movement simultaneously. Arrival Lead Time was investigated to measure the extent of time overlapping between two processes. 'Arrival Lead Time' is the interval between the eye fixation on the target button and the button click. In addition to the arrival lead time, it was revealed that the experienced group uses the less number of fixations during text entry than the novice group. This result will contribute to the improvement of evaluation model for text entry interface.

Various services such as IPTV, VoIP, multimedia over IP, on-line payment, on-line game, etc. were made possible due to the rapid advance of the network. In order to provide secure and seamless services over the network, the Internet service providers are performing continuous network monitoring using NMS. The main function of NMS is to perform a diagnosis to identify the potential causes of failure from event messages. In this paper, a simulation tool, named as NetDoctor, is presented which is capable of identifying and diagnosing the potential problems in the virtual network, before the network model is constructed. In NetDoctor, a series of various and artificial failure is imposed on the virtual network, and it was analyzed if NetDoctor could identify the problems. The experimental results on virtual network show that the developed tool is very effective in identifying and diagnosing the problems. The presented simulation tool can be used in the design of robust network.
In this paper, we apply the next generation Internet TV solution, FLV has been designed and implemented. Currently being broadcast in the field to compress HD video in real time, as well as live Internet VOD services are available through the online system, the Internet LIVE broadcast and VOD service easy to operate and UCC services that support the solution. VOD video cameras and in real time using H264 CORECODEC to compress MPEC4, WMV, and real-time video streaming on the Internet, and phone system that supports the first, real-time recording of camera images featured nation's first real-time encoder system (Real time encoder system) is, Web and smart environment suitable for supporting the latest CORECODEC technology and software products. Second, the video can be played in MP4 player and customize your chat, and Custer (customizing) is a possible two-way Internet Broadcasting System. This study is to estimate the learning curve based on the consequences of reduced voice of customer from each telecommunication service products. We used Exponential Decay Model, which is the most popular among the learning curve models. We attempted to add how VOC changes in accordance with seasonal factors, human resource input, application of software, and the investment. The results of the empirical analysis of each service product as follows: First, as learning curve, customer complaints decreased. Second, human resource input, Network fault make increase or decrease customer complaints(VOC). Third, even though increasing the customer's quality of experience, VOC would not decrease due to service paradox.
Broadcasting telecommunication convergence service means a service where broadcasting and telecommunication converge. Recently with the advancement of technology, broadcasting telecommunication convergence service has been evolving to provide multimedia contents through various devices including wired and wireless network environment. Up to now, IPTV and smartphone-based convergence services have been dominant, but more developed and evolved technology and media will appear in the future. In order to derive the next generation broadcasting telecommunication convergence service supporting model, this study derives an evaluation model of broadcasting telecommunication convergence service and presents a case of evaluation of 30 demonstration projects supported by the Korean government from 2010 to 2014. In this study, we derive an evaluation model and evaluate the demonstration projects by reflecting the position of the main stake holders of service such as users, experts, and related organizational institutions, away from the existing simple service evaluation method. Expert questionnaire used AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) method, and the evaluation results were divided into upper and lower groups to provide key implications by a gap analysis. From this analysis this study suggests guidelines for next generation broadcasting telecommunication service support projects. The next generation broadcasting convergence service business should be based on open platform type in terms of service type. In terms of service media, it should be centered on open devices such as smart phones and smart TVs. In terms of types of business responsibilities, it should be led by public organizations and it is necessary to increase the fund matching ratio by at least 62% when the private sector participates.

The competition among companies in converged market of broadcasting and telecommunications has become severe. Companies in this market have vertically integrated critical resources by acquiring or strategically allying with relevant companies. However, the expansion of business territory accompanies financial, organizational, and technological risks. As such, it is important to identify critical success factors that highly affect the company's competency. This study is aimed at delivering strategic implications for firms playing in the converged market of broadcasting and telecommunications by drawing the priorities of competitive resources to acquire. To do this, we selected four teen specific core resources on CPNT (content- platform - network - terminal) value chain. Then, we conducted an Analytic Hierarchical Process (AHP) using data from experts in this industry. As a result, the priority for acquisition of competitive resources is presented as follows: broadcasting programs, implementation of TV application store, multi-platform, investment on wireless network, and diffusion of mobile devices. In addition, the result shows that the platform-centric vertical integration is the most promising strategy for competition.
