  • Recently, Internet Telephony has become increasingly popular in telecommunication industry. However, previous research on Internet Telephony has focused on analyzing specific Internet Telephony solutions, identifying the Internet Telephony movement itself. The research on prediction models about Internet Telephony adoption has been minimal. The main propose of this study is to develop models for predicting transition intention from using traditional telephones to using Internet Telephony. To do so, this study uses data mining methods to analyze demands in the IT communications market and to provide management strategies for Internet telephony providers. Especially this study uses discriminant analysis, logistic regression, classification tree, and neural nets to develop the prediction models for the Internet Telephony adoption. The models are compared with each other and a superior model is chosen.

  • RO membranes, the core elements for RO process formed using polyamide, have found prominent space in membrane technology. RO membranes with better application perspective could be achieved by precise controlling the kinetics of IP reaction and surface modification strategy. Despite huge progresses, great challenges still exist in trade-off between flux, rejections and fouling. More works are necessary to enhance the performance and stability of RO membranes via surface modification. Further insights into the use of natural monomers are necessary. It is anticipated that this article can provide clues for further in-depth evaluation and research in exploring more advanced RO membranes.

  • Wireless community networks (WCNs) are considered another form of ownership of internet protocol (IP) networks, where community members manage and own every piece of equipment in a decentralized way, and routing for traffic is done in a cooperative manner. However, the current routing protocols for WCNs suffer from stability and scalability issues. In this paper, an enhanced routing protocol is proposed based on the optimized link state routing (OLSR) protocol to meet the standards of efficiency in terms of stability and scalability. The proposed routing protocol is enhanced through two phases: multicasting expansion and multipoint relay (MPR) selection based on an analytical hierarchical process (AHP). The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed routing protocol outperforms the OLSR protocol in terms of network control overhead and packet delivery ratio by 18% and 1% respectively.

  • Frequent occurrence of binding update messages may incur high overhead in Mobile IP supporting users mobility. Thus, it needs to develop algorithms to deal with the situation. In this paper, we propose new lifetime assignment schemes for dynamic binding update considering the locality property related with mobile node's movement. Each mobile node maintains a profile which is based on log containing useful information about its visiting subnets. That is, it determines dynamic binding update lifetime for currently visiting subnet by computing past mean resident time recorded in the profile. In addition, we note that the resident time depends on the time when each node enters a subnet and thus, we devise another lifetime assignment algorithm. Extensive experiments are made to compare our schemes with existing Mobile IPv6 where major facts for performance comparison are both the number of binding update messages and the number of binding request messages. From the results, we come to know that our schemes obtain highly considerable performance improvements in terms of communication cost by decreasing the number of those messages.

  • The Internet is evolving from best-effort service toward an integrated or differentiated service framework with quality-of-service (QoS) assurances that are required for new multimedia service applications. Given this increasing demand for high bandwidth Internet with QoS assurances in the coming years, an IP/MPLS-based control plane combined. with a wavelength-routed dense-wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) optical network is seen as a very promising approach for the realization of future re-configurable transport networks. This paper proposes a differentiated lambda establishment process for QoS guarantees based on the differentiated MPLS service (DMS) model. According to the QoS characteristics of wavelength in optical links and the type of used Optical Cross-Connect (OXC) nodes in DWDM next generation optical Internet backbone network, a differentiated wavelength assignment strategy that considers QoS recovery capability is also suggested.

  • In this paper, we examine the problems of the current Internet due to the development of network services and the expansion of network bandwidth. The current Internet has been used for a long time because it is composed of TCP / IP, but fundamental problems such as bandwidth, transmission rate, and security have not been solved. Therefore, the future network must be prepared through continuous investment and maintenance. In order to overcome this problem, we will propose a way to overcome the above problems and upgrade by converting the current Internet Protocol into the next generation network. Currently, many researches on next-generation networks have been conducted, but there are not many studies in Korea, and research on next-generation networks will be a very important task for the future development of the Internet service industry at the national level. In this paper, we propose an advanced internet environment through the advantages of various next generation protocols.
