  • Many malfunction take place in container crane spreader due to impact. So we designed a 2 DOF hydraulic impact absorbing equipment to absorb the impact and we studied the change of damping coefficient with respect to the variation of dimensions of oil-Cylinder wail. When we design the dimension of hydraulic cylinder wall considering the displacement on the wall, the value of it over 20m didn't affect the damping coefficient.

  • The door stiffness is one of the important factors for the side impact. Generally, the researches have been conducted on the assembled door. A side impact door beam is installed in a door to protect occupants from the side impact. This research is only concentrated on the side impact beam and a side impact beam is designed. The cross section is defined to have an elliptic shape. An optimization problem is defined to find the design maximizing the intrusion stiffness within the specified weight. Design variables are the radii and the thickness of the ellipsoid. The analysis of the side impact is carried out by the nonlinear finite element method. The optimization problem is solved by two methods. One is the experimental design scheme using an orthogonal array. The other is the gradient-based optimization using the response surface method(RSM). Both methods have obtained the better designs than the current one.

  • This paper presents the impact behavior and damage of laminated composite plates subjected to low-velocity impact. For this purpose, a pendulum impact test for impact behavior and C-scan for impact damage are done. Test materials are carbon/epoxy laminated composite plates and stacking sequences $[0/90_4\;[0/45_2/-45]_s,\;[0/45/-45/90]_s$ and [0/26/51/77/-77/-51/-26/0].

  • Auditory experiments based on subjective responses were undertaken for the heavy and light weight impact noises, rubber ball impact noise and real impact noise. Relations between noise levels and subjective evaluations were also investigated. As a result, it was found that the subjective responses of all floor impact noise sources showed a similar trend except real impact noise. The noise class was rated with the range of sensible satisfaction by investigating the various social responses for the floor impact noise. (omitted)

  • The floor impact noise in apartment buildings has been known as the most sensitively recognized environmental noise. Therefore. inhabitants perceptual evaluation of floor impact noises was investigated by a questionnaire survey. It was found that the respondents perceive the floor impact noises from the upper nor as a constant noise level. However, if there is any child on the upper floor. the respondents felt Its noise as a harshly grating level. It was also found that the larger the respondents house is. the higher their wanted level of noise isolation is. Moreover, it was revealed that the main source of the floor impact noise from the upper floor is a child at the age from six to seven. The results could be used as fundamental data for the research on impact sources and new regulations that fit to Korean perceptual aspects and characteristics.

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the correlation of single-number ratings for sound insulation by floor impact. As a assessment method of impact sound insulation. we selected the IIC contour of ISO, A weighted sound level. Inverse A-weighting curve and L-Index of japanese industrial standard. And we estimated the single-number ratings by application the measured data of impact sound level to each method. The results showed that the coefficients of determination between each two single-number ratings were very high (more than 0.9169). And In the condition of same assessment method, the coefficient of determination for light-weight impact sound was higher than that for heavy-weight impact sound.

  • This paper is proposed a reasonable method for determining the dynamic properties, the impact factors caused by traffic loads on highway bridges. In addition, the impact factors obtained in previous inspection reports were classified by the span length of the bridge, kind of bridge and type of bridge and the result of the impact factor was adjusted by a statistical method and presented problems. Also, the method for determining the impact factor using traffic load is proposed and the proposed method is compared with the specification code. The method estimating the impact factors due to the traffic loads can efficiently recognize the response of the structure by providing the impact factors and help to save the investigation cost, and also it can be used for the maintenance of structures using the usual test of bridges.

  • The present paper investigates the effect of hot isostatic pressing (HIPing) on mechanical properties, e.g., tensile strength, ductility and impact absorption energy of sand and die casted aluminum alloys. After HIPing at various temperatures and pressure conditions, uniaxial tensile test and Izod impact test of the samples were carried out. The experimental results showed improvements in uniaxial tensile strength, elongation and Izod impact toughness of sand casted aluminum alloy, while deterioration of a tensile strength fur die casted aluminum alloy. The effect of HIPing for microstructure of the cast aluminum alloy was also investigated.

  • Impact-collision ion scattering spectroscopy was applied to study the geometrical structure of epitaxially grown TiO layers on the MgO(100) surface. Hetero-epitaxial TiO layer was formed by thermal evaporation of titanium onto the MgO(100) surface followed by the exposure to oxygen at $400{\circ}$. The well-ordered TiO structure was confirmed by the impact-collision ion scattering spectroscopy and reflection high energy electron diffraction patterns. It is revealed that the Ti and O atoms are located on the on-top site of the MgO(100) surface and the TiO overlayers are composed of little three dimensional islands.

  • Static and dynamic penetration tests of reinforced concrete (RC) slab specimens are described and discussed. The experimental study was aimed at a better understanding of mechanisms that are involved in dynamic penetration, through their identification in static tests, and by establishing their relative influence in similar dynamic cases. The RC specimens were $80{\times}80-cm$ square plates, and they were made of 30 MPa concrete. The non-deforming steel penetrator was a 50-mm diameter steel rod with a conical nose of 1.5 aspect ratio. Impact penetration tests were carried out with an air gun, which launched the projectiles at velocities of up to 300 m/sec. The static tests were conducted using a closed loop displacement control actuator, where the penetrator was pushed at a constant rate of displacement into the specimen. The static tests reveal important mechanisms that govern the penetration process and therefore contribute to a better understanding of RC barriers resistance to non-deforming projectiles impact.
