CFD를 사용한 인천대교 충돌방지공 주변의 조류 흐름장 해석 (Analysis of Tidal Stream around Ship Impact Protection of Incheon Bridge Using CFD)

  • Recently, the massive offshore bridges in a ship passage have been constructed on the sea. Therefore, the ship impact protection for the bridge-piers are installed to consider the possibility of vessel collision danger. Due to the ship impact protection, the flow-field characteristics are changed in comparison with the condition without the ship impact protection. Especially, the fluid velocity between the pier and the ship impact protection is possible to increase due to the contraction of the cross sectional area of flow. In this study, the tidal energy magnitude around the ship impact protection of Incheon bridge is assessed by simulating the flow-field by using FLOW-3D software.

Macroeconomic and Bank-Specific Variables and the Liquidity of Jordanian Commercial Banks

  • This study aimed to explore the impact of macroeconomic (Real GDP growth (GDPG), Inflation rate (INF)) and bank -specific variables (profitability (ROA), capital adequacy (CADEQ), non-performing loans (NPL), deposit growth (DEPG)) on the liquidity (lIQ) of 13 listed Jordanian commercial banks for the period 2011-2018. Panel data analysis, Pooled least square, fixed effects model and random effects model, Lagrange multiplier test, and Hausman test were used. The random effects model output shows that, macroeconomic variables have a significant impact on Jordanian commercial banks liquidity since inflation has a positive impact while GDPG has a negative impact on banks (LIQ). On the other hand among the bank-specific variables capital adequacy and deposit growth have a positive significant impact on banks (LIQ), while (NPL) and (SIZE) have a negative significant impact on Jordanian commercial banks liquidity. But ROA has a negative insignificant impact on (LIQ). The findings of the study suggest that commercial banks departments need to pay attention to the economic and internal variables of banks in order to maintain acceptable levels of liquidity.

컴퓨터 시뮬레이션에 의한 콘크리트 교량난간의 동적거동 분석 (Dynamic Analysis of Concrete Rigid Barriers by Computer Simulation)

  • This paper proposed a new impact equation by analyzing the form of the proposal section 1 and section 2 proposed by Korea Highway Corporation, F-type, NJ-type and SS-type with HVOSM program Because the impact equation proposed by Ministry Construction & Transportation(1992) considered an only impact velocity, the values of impact loads calculated by HVOSM program are 21.5∼44 times as large as those using equation of MCT. The values of HVOSM program are 1.4 times as large as those of Olson's model because Olson's equation consider impact vehicle, impact velocity and impact angle. But, it does not consider geometric characters, while HVOSM program considers characters. Considering the shapes of sections and the conditions of colliding, HVOSM program can calculate imuact load. As Multiple Regression Analysis is conducted with the calculated values, the R² values of the proposed equations are 0.984 in SB1∼SB3 and 0.958 in SB4∼SB6. After all, the equation proposed in this study have better results than Olson's equation.

Experimental investigation of low-velocity impact characteristics of steel-concrete-steel sandwich beams

  • A series of tests was conducted to study the behaviour of steel-composite sandwich beams under low velocity hard impact. Damage characteristic and performance of sandwich beams with different spacing of shear connector were evaluated under impact loading. Thin steel plates were used as top and bottom skins of the sandwich beams and plain concrete was used as the core material. Shear connectors were provided by welding of angle sections on steel plates. The sandwich beams were impacted at their midpoint by a hemi-spherical nose shaped projectile dropped from various heights. Strains on steel plates were measured to study the effects of impact velocity or impact momentum on the performance of sandwich beams. Spacing of shear connectors is found to have significant effects on the impact response of the beams.

Web Impact Factor and Link Analysis of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) Organizations

  • There have been extensive studies done on webometrics, particularly on the impact of websites and the web impact factor. The present study analyzed the websites of ICAR organizations, according to the webometrics indicator. It examines and explores the 92 ICAR organizational websites in India and identifies a number of web pages and link pages, and calculates the Overall Web Impact Factor (WIF) and Absolute Web Impact Factor (WIF). In this study, all websites were analyzed and data extracted using Google search engine. It suggests that Web Impact Factors can be calculated as a way of comparing the attractiveness of web sites or domains on the Web.

  • To simulate strength reliability and durability of ceramic parts under gas turbine application environments, particle impact damage behaviors in silicon carbide oxidized at 1673 K and 1523 K for 200 hours in atmosphere were investigated. The long-term oxidation produced a slight increase in the static fracture strength. Particle impact caused a spalling of oxide layer. The patterns of spalling and damage induced were dependent upon the property and impact velocity of the particle. Especially, the difference in spalling behaviors induced could be explained by introducing the formation mechanism of lateral crack and elastic-plastic deformation behavior at impact sit. At the low impact velocity regions, the oxidized SiC showed a little increase in the residual strength due to the cushion effect of oxide layer, as compared with the as-received SiC without oxide layer.

  • Damage induced by low-velocity impact on the curved composite laminates was experimentally evaluated for CFRP cylindrical shells with the radius of curvatures of 50, 150, 300, and 500 mm. The result was then compared with that of flat laminates. The radius of curvatures and the effective shell stiffness appeared to considerably affect the dynamic impact response of curved shells. Under the same impact energy level, the maximum contact force increased with the decreasing radius of curvatures, with reaching 1.5 times that for plates at the radius of curvature of 50 mm. Since the maximum contact force is directly related to the impact damage, curved laminates can be more susceptible to delamination and less resistant to the low-velocity impact damage. The distribution of delamination along the thickness direction of curved laminates are also different from that of flat plates. Delamination was distributed rather even]y at each interface along the thickness direction of curved laminates. This implies that the effect of curvatures has to be considered for the design of a curved composite laminate.

  • We have implemented a system of falling weight impact tester. Absorbed energy of orthotropic composites with using T300 fiber, which are composed of the same fiber and stacking number is higher than that of quasi-isotropic specimen over impact energy 7J, but in case of using T700 fiber, much difference does not show. Also, absorbed energy of orthotropic composites with using T300 fiber, which are composed of stacking number and orientation became more than that of T700 fiber specimen; however great change doesn't show in case of quasi-isotropic specimens. Delamination area of impacted specimens was measured with ultrasonic C-scanner to find correlation between impact energy and delamination area. Delamination area and frequency responses was evaluated between impacted and unimpacted specimens. There is a strong correlation between frequency responses and impact-induced delamination. The presence and scale of damages have been investigated based on the variations of frequency responses.

Impact Fracture Characteristics on Fabricating Process of $Nb/MoSi_2$ Laminate Composite (I)

  • [ $Nb/MoSi_2$ ]laminate composites have been successfully fabricated by hot pressing in a graphite mould. Lamination of Nb foil and $MoSi_2$ layer showed a sufficient improvement in the absorbed impact energy compared to that of monolithic $MoSi_2$ material. The impact value of $Nb/MoSi_2$ laminate composites obviously is reduced when sintered at temperatures higher than 1523K, even if the composite density contributing to impact load increased along with fabricating temperatures. Impact value of laminate composites was also drastically decreased with the growth of reaction layer after the heat treatment. However, it was effective to increase the pressure at the same sintering temperature for the improvement of the impact value.

에어백을 이용한 신체충격완화장치 (Hip Protector against the Impact by Fall Using Air-bag)

  • The hip protector has been developed using the air-bag which has the capability of attenuating an impact. The impact force using the PVC air-bag was decreased by values of 27.5% on average, compared to the impact force without the air-bag. In the experiment, the standard deviation of the impact force attenuation rate was 0.78%. It means that the dimensions of the air-bag have no significant effects to reduce the impact. We believe that it is possible to design light and cheap hip protectors with air-bag to prevent the femur fracture.
