Circuit Parameter Optimization and Significantly Enhanced ACPR of W-CDMA Signals of Feedforward Analog Optical Transmitter through Systemetic Approach (시스템적 접근을 통한 피드포워드 아날로그 광 송신기의 회로 파라미터 최적화와 W-CDMA 신호의 ACPR 개선)

  • The optical feedforward is known as a complicated technique in spite of its superior linearization. Here we optimized the feedforward circuit parameters using a systematic approach for optimum efficiency. A systematic approach was verified by transmission experiments of 2.14 GHz two tones. The compared third order IMD was enhanced by 38 dB for two-tone case. The experimental results for transmission of W-CDMA signals were described. The ACPR was enhanced by 20 dB for 1 W-CDMA carrier and by 16 dB for 3 W-CDMA carriers. Also, noise level was reduced by 7 dB.

  • A new linearization technique for RF high-power amplifiers(HPAs) using n-th order error signal generator (ESGn) is proposed. The n-th order ESG generates an error signal based on the complex envelope transfer characteristics of the HPA, which is combined at the output of the HPA. Therefore, the higher-order nonlinearlities are not affected by the ESG$\_$n/ and the stability of the linearized system is guaranteed due to the inherent open-loop configuration. Moreover, the output delay loss can be avoided, because the error signal is generated with the input signal of the HPA. The IMD(intermodulation distortion) improvement obtained applying the ESG$\_$7/ to 5 W class A HPA in cellular band demonstrates the feasibility of the proposed postdistortion system.

A Study of Failure Mechanism through abnormal AlXOY Layer after pressure Cooker Test for DRAM device (DRAM 소자의 PCT 신뢰성 측정 후 비정상 AlXOY 층 형성에 의해 발생된 불량 연구)

  • This research scrutinizes the reason of failure after pressure cooker test (PCT) for DRAM device. We use the physical inspecting tools, such as microscope, SEM and TEM, and finally find the discolor phenomenon, corrosion of Al and delamination of inter-metal dielectric (IMD) in the failed devices after PCT. Furthermore, we discover the abnormal $Al_XO_Y$ layer on Al through the careful additional measurements. To find the reason, we evaluate the effect of package ball size and pinhole in passivation layer. Unfortunately, those aren't related to the problems. We also estimate halide effect of Al. The halogens such like Cl are contained within EMC material. Those result in the slight improving of PCT characteristics but do not perfectly solve the problems. We make a hypothesis of Galvanic corrosion. We can find the residue of Ti at the edge of pad open area. We can see the improving the PCT characteristics by the time split of repair etch. The possible mechanism of the PCT failure can be deduced as such following sequence of reactions. The remained Ti reacts on the pad Al by Galvanic corrosion. The ionized Al is easily react with the $H_2O$ supplied under PCT environment, and finally transfers to the abnormal $Al_XO_Y$ layer.

Development and Application of Internet-based Consumer Education Program for Children (인터넷 기반 아동소비자 교육프로그램 개발 및 적용)

  • This study presents a development of internet-based consumer education program for children. We also investigate how this program affects on the children's consumer competency and how much children are interested in this program. This program consists of 6 domains: the concept of consumer. wants and scarcity. advertisement, tips on purchasing. consumer's rights. and consumer's problem imd solutions. In order to attract children. multimedia data such as pictures. drawings. and animations were included in designing the screens. The subjects of this study were 40 children at forth grade to participate in consumer education program. Surveys were conducted twice to collect data for consumer competency and children's interest in the program. According to the results of t-test. We found that consumer education has a positive effect on consumer knowledge and consumer-role attitude but has not a positive effect on consumer skill. We also found that children's interest on this program was very high.

Design and Performance Analysis of Magnetic Resonant Wireless Power Transfer Receiver for Implant Medical Device (인체 삽입형 자기 공진 무선전력전송 수신기 설계 및 성능 분석)

  • In this study, we propose a suitable magnetic resonant wireless power transfer(WPT) system topology for size-limited implant medical devices(IMDs). The proposed modified series-parallel topology(mSPT) can be implemented by adding an inductor in series to the parallel-connected Rx coil and a capacitor. The topology achieves high efficiency when the Rx coil has a small inductance. The validity and operating conditions of the system are verified theoretically through circuit analysis. Experiments were conducted with bio-blocks, which are made of pork fat and muscle. When the Rx coils were inserted into the blocks at a depth of 2.5~10 mm, mSPT showed 17.79 % improved efficiency on average compared with the conventional series-series topology(SST). In the case of 32 dBm WPT in air, the Rx coil's heating rate for the mSPT was $0.18^{\circ}C/s$, whereas the SST was $0.75^{\circ}C/s$. It was confirmed that the mSPT is more suitable for an IMD-targeted WPT system.
