  • This paper designs a drive for high efficiency of the 3-phase IM (induction motor) for FCU(Fan Coil Unit). The speed control system of 3-phase IM for FCU has been implemented by a TMS320LF2406 DSP chip. The DSP TMS320LF2406, which include the most peripheral circuit for control of the Industrial motor suitable for AC motor drive. This type of the controller can be obtained low cost and high reliance. The proposed drive system of the 3-phase IM for the FCU is verified by simulation. The results show the speed control characteristics of the control strategy Proposed for 3-Phase IM drive.

  • This paper propose a improved parameter estimations of five-phase squirrel-cage induction motor(IM) for speed control system on field oriented control(FOC). In order to high performance control of ac the motors using a FOC and DTC(direct torque control) algorithm, there are required precise motor parameters for slip calculation, flux observer, controller gain, rotor position and speed estimation, and so on. We are suggest a estimation method of the motor parameters that developing five-phase squirrel-cage IM have a stator of concentrated winding for experimental. There are results of stator winding test, no-load test, locked rotor test, and obtained equivalent circuits using manufactured experimental apparatus. For presenting the superior performance of the speed control system in adapted the parameters, experimental results are presented using a 32-bit fixed point TMS320F2812 DSP with 1.5[KW] IM.

  • A method of flux sensing using tapped winding is described for measuring air gap flux in linear induction motor. This method which utilizes coils of motor itself is neither affected by temperature nor resistive voltage drop due to stator current in the motor coils. So it can measure air gap flux in reliable manner. The tapped wilding method has been implemented in experiment and the result shows that this method can be sufficiently used in direct vector control of linear induction motor.

In order to maximize the torque per ampere, the proposed motor has concentrated windings. The produced back-electromotive force is almost trapezoidal, and the motor is supplied with the combined sinusoidal plus third harmonic of currents. There is necessary to controlled 3rd harmonic current in order to high response characteristics. For presenting the superior performance of the proposed the speed control system, experimental results are presented using a 32-bit fixed point TMS320F2812 DSP with 1.5[kW] induction motor.

  • High-performance Current Source Inverter (CSI)-fed, variable speed alternating current drives are prepared for various industrial applications. CSI-fed Induction Motor (IM) drives are managed by using different control methods. Noteworthy methods include scalar Control (V/f), Input-Output Linearization (IOL) control, Field-Oriented Control (FOC), and Direct Torque Control (DTC). The objective of this work is to compare the dynamic performance of the aforementioned drive control methods for CSI-fed IM drives. The dynamic performance results of the proposed drives are individually analyzed through sensitivity tests. The tests selected for the comparison are step changes in the reference speed and torque of the motor drive. The operation and performance of different vector control methods are verified through simulations with MATLAB/Simulink and experimental results.

PI Controlled Active Front End Super-Lift Converter with Ripple Free DC Link for Three Phase Induction Motor Drives

  • An active front end (AFE) is required for a three-phase induction motor (IM) fed by a voltage source inverter (VSI), because of the increasing need to derive quality current from the utility end without sacrificing the power factor (PF). This study investigates a proportional-plus-integral (PI) controller based AFE topology that uses a super-lift converter (SLC). The significance of the proposed SLC, which converts rectified AC supply to geometrically proceed ripple-free DC supply, is explained. Variations in several power quality parameters in the intended IM drive for 0% and 100% loading conditions are demonstrated. A simulation is conducted by using MATLAB/Simulink software, and a prototype is built with a field programmable gate array (FPGA) Spartan-6 processor. Simulation results are correlated with the experimental results obtained from a 0.5 HP IM drive prototype with speed feedback and a voltage/frequency (V/f) control strategy. The proposed AFE topology using SLC is suitable for three-phase IM drives, considering the supply end PF, the DC-link voltage and current, the total harmonic distortion (THD) in supply current, and the speed response of IM.

In order to maximize the torque per ampere, the proposed motor has concentrated windings and the produced back-electromotive force(EMF) is almost trapezoidal, and the motor is supplied with the combined sinusoidal plus third harmonic of currents, there is necessary to controlled 3rd harmonic current. Also a DTC method is advantageous when it is applied to the five-phase IM, because the five-phase inverter provides 32 space vectors in comparison to 8 space voltage vectors into the three-phase inverter drive system. For presenting the superior performance of the proposed DTC, experimental results of speed control are presented using a 32-bit fixed point TMS320F2812 DSP with 1.5[hp] IM.

  • In this paper authors proposed a new nonlinear rotor flux observer for rotor field oriented control of an induction motor which is designed based on theory of the extended Luenberger observer(ELO) one of a nonlinear state observer. The proposed rotor flux observer is derived from the 2 phase model of induction motor by the theory of ELO. The simulation results taken under the varying condition of rotor resistance and load torque show fast convergence of estimated rotor flux and high performance of IM drive system is achieved 표 experiment.

  • In this paper, rotor flux feedforward control of induction motor fed by cycloconverters with high frequency LC resonant circuits is presented. The cycloconverter using new current control algorithm as a power source of induction motor drive system is proposed. And then its validity of the application to induction motor control system is verified by experimental results.
