  • The expansion of new applications and business models is being significantly fueled by the development of Fifth Generation (5G) networks, which are becoming more widely accessible. The creation of the newest intelligent vehicular networks and applications is made possible by the use of Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) and Software Defined Networking (SDN). Researchers have been concentrating on the integration of SDN and VANET in recent years, and they have examined a variety of issues connected to the architecture, the advantages of software-defined VANET services, and the new features that can be added to them. However, the overall architecture's security and robustness are still in doubt and have received little attention. Furthermore, new security threats and vulnerabilities are brought about by the deployment and integration of novel entities and a number of architectural components. In this study, we comprehensively examine the good and negative effects of the most recent SDN-enabled vehicular network topologies, focusing on security and privacy. We examine various security flaws and attacks based on the existing SDVN architecture. Finally, a thorough discussion of the unresolved concerns and potential future study directions is provided.

  • Three new species of Kelleria are described based on the females from the invertebrate burrows in the Port Seogwipo, Jeju Island, Korea. These species possess in common no process on the inner margin of the free segment of leg 5. Kelleria grandisetiger n. sp. possesses a large seta on lateral sides of the genital double-somite and a small thumb-like process near base of the free segment of leg 5. Kelleria undecidentata n. sp. possesses the elongated free segment of leg 5 which is more than four times as long as wide and 11 teeth on the distal margin of the second maxillary segment. Kelleria portiviva n. sp. possesses one seta and one distinct spine on the distal margin of the free segment of leg 5, ten or 11 teeth on the distal margin of the second maxillary segment, and a tuft of spinules on the convex outer comer of mandible.

  • In this paper, a method is presented for estimating the bearing capacity of shallow foundations based on the Discrete Element Method (DEM). By applying Winkler-springs for accounting for the compatibility between soil blocks, the proposed method can estimate the state of stress at failure surface and the ultimate bearing capacity. For the investigation of the application of the method, example problems about shallow foundations on the single layer and two layers soil are analyzed.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors consumers seriously considered when purchasing HMRs and the difference among the factors according to their demographic characteristics. The subjects were adults in their twenties or older who had used HMRs and lived in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province in Korea. Random sampling picked 550 of them, who were distributed a questionnaire from March 12 to 30, 2005. Total 451 questionnaires were returned(the return rates were 82%). The validity of the 27 features was examined by factor analysis. There were seven factors identified, and they were labeled considering the meaning of their items as follows: 'Factor 1. food quality,' 'Factor 2. appearance and packaging,' 'Factor 3. convenience and reliability,' 'Factor 4. access,' 'Factor 5. familiarity,' 'Factor 6. positive experiences,' and 'Factor 7. practicality.

  • Energy efficiency in wireless sensor networks (WSNs) is a critical issue because batteries are used for operation and communication. In terms of scalability, energy efficiency, data integration, and resilience, WSN-cluster-based routing algorithms often outperform routing algorithms without clustering. Low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) is a cluster-based routing protocol with a high transmission efficiency to the base station. In this paper, we propose an energy consumption model for LEACH and compare it with the existing LEACH, advanced LEACH (ALEACH), and power-efficient gathering in sensor information systems (PEGASIS) algorithms in terms of network lifetime. The energy consumption model comprises energy-sensitive cluster formation and a cluster head selection technique. The setup and steady-state phases of the proposed model are discussed based on the cluster head selection. The simulation results demonstrated that a low-energy-consumption network was introduced, modeled, and validated for LEACH.

  • Objective : Radiosurgery may be contraindicated for lesions adjacent to the optic pathways because of the substantial risk of visual complication. Multisession radiosurgery has been tried as a compromise between single session radiosurgery and fractionated radiotherapy. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the outcomes of multisession gamma knife radiosurgery (GKRS) in 22 patients with perioptic lesions of benign pathology. Methods : In all 22 cases, the lesions were within 1 mm of the optic apparatus and were therefore not considered suitable for single session radiosurgery. Radiation was delivered in 3 to 4 fractions with a median cumulated marginal dose of 20 Gy (range, 15-20 Gy). Results : During a mean follow-up of 29 months (range, 14-44 months), tumor control was achieved in 21 patients. Visual function improved in 7 patients, remained unchanged in 14 patients, and deteriorated in 1 patient with tumor progression. No other complication was observed. Conclusion : This preliminary result supports the idea that multisession GKRS may be an effective and safe alternative for treatment in perioptic lesions that are unsuitable for single session radiosurgery.

  • The purpose of this study was to find out differences between nursing teachers and non-nursing teachers in sex education, to offer the degree of conducting sex education and teachers' perceptions of teaching ability The subjects were 291 middle and high school teachers in Busan from June 25 to July 22, 2002. The results of this study are as follows. 1. According to the survey of 22 items relating to the degree of conducting sex education, the average of nursing teachers(2.87) was higher than that of non-nursing teachers(2.69). This finding showed that there was a significant difference between both groups(p<.05). 2. According to the survey of 22 items relating to teaching abilities, the average of nursing teachers(2.88) was higher than that of non-nursing teachers(2.63). There was also a significant difference between both groups(p<.01). According to the results of the study, I make the following suggestions. 1. Sex education should be adopted as a regular course and conducted as a school health program in regular curriculum. 2. Compared with non-nursing teachers, nursing teachers conducted sex education frequently and efficiently and their perception of sex education was higher. Therefore, the school policy which requires that sex education should be conducted by nursing teachers only is to be established.

  • The rotary-vane compressor has become one of the most successful types of compressors because of its mechanical reliability, compactness, and adaptability to moderately high-speed operation in virtually an unlimited range of sizes. However recently, the depletion of the ozone layer due to the current refrigerant(R22) has been getting worse, and it is one of the world's pressing issues. In this paper, we will discuss the use of R410a in the compressor of a room air-conditioner as an alternative refrigerant and air-conditioning system to R22, since R410a has greater refrigerant characteristics than R22. Miniaturization of the rotary compressor for the new refrigerant and air-conditioning system is also possible, which reduces the prime cost of production, hence R410a is naturally a better refrigerant. But to apply the new HFC refrigerant system in refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, a significant redesign of the current refrigerant system is also required, because as the refrigeration changes, lubrication characteristics vary. Close attention must be paid to friction force and energy loss due to friction and wear at many sliding areas.
