A Secure Communication Framework for the Detection System of Network Vulnerability Scan Attacks (네트워크 취약점 검색공격 탐지 시스템을 위한 안전한 통신 프레임워크 설계)

  • In this paper, we propose a secure communication framework for interaction and information sharing between a server and agents in DS-NVSA(Detection System of Network Vulnerability Scan Attacks) proposed in〔1〕. For the scalability and interoperability with other detection systems, we design the proposed IDMEF and IAP that have been drafted by IDWG. We adapt IDMEF and IAP to the proposed framework and provide SKTLS(Symmetric Key based Transport Layer Security Protocol) for the network environment that cannot afford to support public-key infrastructure. Our framework provides the reusability of heterogeneous intrusion detection systems and enables the scope of intrusion detection to be extended. Also it can be used as a framework for ESM(Enterprise Security Management) system.

  • 네트웍을 이용한 외부의 침입을 탐지하기 위해 침입탐지시스템이 1980년대부터 연구되었다. 침입탐지 시스템은 침입을 발견하면 경보데이터나 로그데이터를 생성하는데 서로 상이한 데이터 집합으로 인해 별도의 데이터 매핑이 필요한 문제점을 해결하고자 IETF 의 침입탐지 관련 그룹인 IDWG 에서 IDMEF를 제안하였다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 IDMEF 형식을 지원하는 경보데이터 구조를 설계하고, 이를 통하여 상위의 보안제어서버에서 상이한 침입탐지 시스템으로부터의 경보데이터를 저장, 관리할 수 있는 방법을 제공한다 이러한 기본적인 경보데이터 관리 이외에 저장된 경보데이터를 통한 공격자 정보 추출, 피해 호스트 정보 추출등의 부가적인 방법 또한 제공한다.

An Integrated Intrusion Detection System for a Large-scale Network Environment (대규모 네트워크 환경을 위한 통합 침입탐지 시스템)

  • In order to solve the increasing security problems, IDSs(Intrusion Detection System) have appeared. However, local IDSs have a limit to detect various intrusions in a large-scale network environment. So there are a lot of researches in progress which organize the elements of IDS in a distributed or hierarchical manner. In this paper, we design a integrated IDS which exchanges messages between them through the standardized message format (IDMEF) and communication protocol (IDXP). We also propose a policy profile for an effective control of IDSs, and employ the PKI mechanism for mutual authentication. We implement a prototype system for the proposed IDSs communicating with Snort and analyze its performance.

  • This paper implements an intrusion detection message exchange protocol library (IDMEPL) for SDMS-RTIR, which Korea Information Security Agency (KISA) has developed to hierarchically detect and respond to network vulnerability scan attacks. The IDMEPL, based on the IDMEF and the IAP of the IDWG, enables SDMS-RTIR to interact with other intrusion detection systems (IDS) in realtime, and supports the TLS protocol to prevent security threats in exchanging messages between its server and its agents. Especially, with the protocol selection stage, the IDMEPL can support various protocols such as the IDXP besides the IAP. Furthermore, it can allow for agents to choose an appropriate security protocol for their own network, achieving security stronger than mutual authentication. With the IDMEPL, SDMS-RTIR can receive massive intrusion detection messages from heterogeneous IDSes in large-scale networks and analyze them.

  • File integrity checking is the most reliable method to examine integrity and stability of system resources. It is required to examine the whole data whenever auditing system's integrity, and its process and result depends on administrator's experience and ability. Therefore the existing method is not appropriate to intrusion response and recovery systems, which require a fast response time. Moreover file integrity checking is able to collect information about the damaged resources, without information about the person who generated the action, which would be very useful for intrusion isolation. In this paper, we propose rtIntegrit, which combines system call auditing functions, it is called Syswatcher, with file integrity checking. The rtlntegrit can detect many activities on files or file system in real-time by combining with Syswatcher. The Syswatcher audit file I/O relative system call that is specified on configuration. And it can be easily cooperated with intrusion response and recovery systems since it generates assessment data in the standard IDMEF format.

  • The hacking accident is increasing repidly according to development of latest computer network and the method becomes various. But, to correspond to hacking, it is lot of difficulties to cope gear and security element between product because most radiant mercuries apply technology between individual digenomic species and It is real condition that great setup, equipment, manpower disturbance are enlarged to apply this.   • 컴퓨터 시스템에 대한 해킹, 바이러스, 인터넷-웜 등을 이용한 사이버 공격의 급속한 증가는 사이버 공격 정보를 수집 분석하여 대응하는 사이버공격대응시스템에 대한 연구를 촉진하였다. 현재 사이버공격대응시스템의 구성 요소 중 사이버 공격 정보를 종합하여 분석하는 분석센터와 분산되어 있는 침입탐지 센서들 사이의 침입 정보교환 표준은 IETF IDMEF로 표준화되고 있으나, 분석센터의 공격 분석 결과를 바탕으로 계속되는 공격을 차단하기 위해 침입차단시스템에 새로운 보안 정책을 교환하는 방법에는 상용 제품들이 사이의 상호 연동 인증에 사용되는 OPSEC 등이 존재하지만 아직 많은 연구가 이루어지지 않고 있다. 본 논문에서는 분석센터가 침입차단시스템에 새로운 보안 정책을 하달하고, 침입차단시스템에서 보안 정책을 집행하는 데 일관된 방법을 사용할 수 있도록 신뢰관리시스템을 사이버공격대응시스템에 적용하는 방안을 제시하고 이를 기존 방법들과 비교 분석한다.

  • 파일 무결성 검사는 시스템 자원의 안정성 여부를 판단할 수 있는 가장 확실한 방법이지만, 감사가 이루어질 때마다 매번 모든 데이터를 검사해야 하며, 관리자의 역량에 않은 부분을 의존하였다. 이는 최대한 빠른 대응을 요하는 침입 복구 시스템에 적합하지 않다. 또한 손상 자원의 복구에 필요한 자원의 상태 정보는 수집 가능하지만, 침입을 차단하기 위해서 침입 행위 주체에 대한 정보는 수집할 수 없다. 위의 두가지 문제를 해결하기 위해 파일 무결성 검사와 시스템 호출 감시 기법을 연동한다. 시스템 호출 강시를 통해서 자원에 대한 침입 행위 주체의 정보를 수집하고 파일 무결성 검사를 하여, 침입 차단 및 복구를 위한 감사 자료를 수집한다. 또한 보다 효과적으로 침입을 탐지하고 복구하기 위하여 여러 침입 탐지 시스템과 연동하여 침입 복구 시스템을 구성할 수 있도록 탐지 메시지를 IDMEF 형식으로 보고한다.

  • Today the malicious approach and information threat against a network system increase and, the demage about this spread to persnal user from company. The product which provides only unit security function like an infiltration detection system and an infiltration interception system reached the limits about the composition infiltration which is being turn out dispersion anger and intelligence anger Necessity of integrated security civil official is raising its head using various security product about infiltration detection, confrontation and reverse tracking of hacker. Because of the quantity to be many analysis of the event which is transmitted from the various security product and infiltration alarm, analysis is difficult. So server is becoming the charge of their side. Consequently the dissertation will research the method to axis infiltration alarm data to solve like this problem.

The recent type of scanning attack is appeared in against with multiple target systems on the large scaled domain rather than single network of an organization. The development of scan detection management system which can detect and analyze scan activities is necessary to prevent effectively those attacking at the central system. The scan detection management system is useful for effective utilization of various detection information that received from scan detection agents. Real time scan detection management system that can do the integrated analysis of high lever more that having suitable construction in environment of large scale network is developed.
