  • About functional parameters of a LED/UVLED (Light Emitting Diode/Ultra Violet LED), one of the most important parameters is the I-V characteristic. By researching factors affect to the I-V characteristic of uvled, we found that beside of the structure of the device itself, there is the influence of the electrode materials, electrode shapes, the process of wiring and packaging. In this work, we want to improve the performance of UVLED to find out the optimal mask design principles. The study is based on theoretical mathematical models, as well as the use of simulation software tool Comsol. From all results obtained, the team has improved mask design to manufacture electrodes for GaN-based UVLED. Electrode masks are designed by three softwares, which are Intellisuite, Klayout and AutoCad. Intellisuite masks would be used in fabrication simulation while Klayout and AutoCad are used to fabricate electrodes in experiments. As well as, we silmulated the structure of an uvled 355nm emission wavelength by TCAD software, in order to compare with uvled sample that has the same emission wavelength.

  • With continuous development of the 2nd generation HTS conductor, the critical current of the conductor is also increasing. However, many applications require more than 2 conductors in parallel to transport large current. Applications such as HTS power cables and some HTS current leads usually need much larger transport current than that provided by a single conductor and they require more than several tens of HTS conductors. In the case of parallel connection of multiple HTS conductors, the current distribution depends on the contact resistance of each conductor at the terminals for DC operation. The non-uniform distribution of the terminal resistances results in a non-uniform distribution of the current. The resultant current non-uniformity affects on the measurement of the I-V curve and the thermal performance of the multiple conductors. This paper describes the I-V curves obtained from multiply connected HTS conductors with different terminal contact resistances to investigate the relationship between the distorted I-V curve and heat generation.

  • The principle of the superconducting vortex flow transistor (SVFT) is based on control of the Abrikosov vortex flowing along a channel. The induced voltage is controlled by a bias current and a control current, instead of external magnetic field. The device is composed of parallel weak links with a nearby current control line. We explained the process to get an I-V characteristic equation and described the method to induce the external and internal magnetic field by the Biot-Savarts law in this paper. The equation can be used to predict the I-V curves for fabricated device. From the equation we demonstrated that the current-voltage characteristics were changed with input parameters. I-V characteristics were simulated to analyze a SVFT with multi-channel by a Matlab program.

  • We perform CCD observations in VRI filters for AK Her during 3 nights in Feb 1997 and Mar 1998 at Mt. Sobaek National Observatory, and obtained 236 images in V, 198 in R, and 197 in I filter. From the data, we construct light curves which contain a pair primary and secondary minima and (O-C) diagram. We analyzed the obtained light curves of AK Her using the Wilson-Devinney code. From the analyses, we find that AK Her is more likely detached or semi-detached than contact system. From the (O-C) diagram, we find that the (O-C) residuals increases out of accordance with the expectation of Borkovits & Hegedus since 1990. However, we cannot identify cause of the periodic variation of the (O-C) residuals.

  • This paper presents an experimental study on an electrical circuit model of the TiO2-based nano-wired memristor device for neuromophic applications. The electrical circuit equivalent model of the proposed memristor device consists of several electronics components and some passive devices including operational amplifiers, multipliers, resistors and capacitors. In order to verify the proposed design, both of simulation (using PSPICE) as well as hardware implementation were performed for the analysis of the memristor circuit with time waveforms, frequency spectra, I-V curves and power curves. The gained results from the measured data showed a good agreement with the simulation result that confirm the proposed idea.

  • This paper describes electrical and optical characteristics of discharge developments in water under inhomogeneous fields caused by impulse voltages. Predischarge current and discharge light images were observed for different water resistivities and applied voltages between the hemispherical water tank and the needle electrode. The electrical parameters characterizing discharge developments are analyzed based on the discharge light images and voltage-current (V-I) curves, and electrical resistances derived by voltage and current waveforms. As a result, when the streamer corona is initiated at the tip of the needle electrode, the transient resistance suddenly drops and V-I curves form a 'loop'. The length of streamer propagation is increased with increasing peak value of the applied voltage, and the streamer corona extension is enlarged with increasing water resistivity. The electrical resistances before streamer corona initiation are rarely changed by different applied voltages. On the other hand, the electrical resistances after streamer corona initiation are found to be inversely proportional to the peak value of the applied voltage, and the decreasing rates for higher water resistivities are much higher than those for lower water resistivities. The time to streamer corona initiation and the time to the second current peak become shorter as the voltage increases. Finally, the calculated resistances after streamer corona initiation are almost the same trace of measured resistances, but they are smaller than the measured values.

  • We fabricated Au/PI/Pb and Au/PI/1-layer Arachidic acid/Pb structures in order to electron transport properties through the junctions. It was found that 9-layer PI LB films function as a good tunneling barrier from the I-V properties. And several peaks originating in the vibrational modes of the constituent molecules of 1-layer arachidicacid LB films were clearly observed in $d^2V/dI^2-V$ curves.

  • I-V, C-V characteristics of inverted staggered type hydrogenerated amorphous silicon thin film transistor(a-Si:H TFT) was studied and experimentally verified. The results show that the log-log plot of drain current increased by voltage increase. The saturated drain current of DC output characteristics increased at a fixed gate voltage. According to the increase of gate voltage, activation energy of electron and the increasing width of Id at high voltage were decreased. Id saturation current saturated at high Vd over 4.5V, Vg-ld hysteresis characteristic curves occurred between -15V and 15V of Vg. Hysteresis current decreased at low voltage of -15V and increased at high voltage of 15V.

  • In this paper, breakdown characteristics of soil in a coaxial cylindrical electrode system stressed by impulse currents were experimentally investigated. The breakdown voltage and current waveforms for 4 types of soils were measured, and the threshold electric field intensity, the time-lag to breakdown and the voltage-current (V-I) curves were analyzed and discussed. As a result, the breakdown voltage and current waveforms are strongly dependent on the grain size of soil, and the voltage and current waveforms for gravel and sand differ from those for silt and loess. The threshold electric field intensity Ec is increased in the order of gravel, sand, loess and silt. The V-I curves for all test samples show a 'cross-closed loop' of ${\infty}$-shape. Also, the time-lag to breakdown for gravel and sand are longer than those for silt and loess. It is expected that the results presented in this paper will provide useful information on the design of improving transient performance of a grounding electrode system subjected to lightning current considering the soil ionization.

  • In this work we present the results of light curve analysis for two cataclysmic variables detected recently in the SDSS project: SDSS J090350.73+330036.1 and J150240.98+333423.9. Photometric observations of the first were obtained during a superoutburst in May 2010. Our observations clearly indicate the presence of superhumps in the light curves, suggesting SDSS J090350.73+330036.1 is an SU UMa dwarf nova. We determined the period of the superhumps. We also carried out fitting using a spiral-arm model in order to determine parameters of the accretion disk, hot line, and other components of this system. Photometric observations of the second, J150240.98+333423.9, were obtained during the post-maximum decline, during April-June 2012. Photometric variability of this system has been studied in an inactive state. We obtained its parameters via a combined model fitted to the observed light curves by ${\chi}^2$ minimization.
