  • In this study, a 3D coordinate measurement system equipped with a laser displacement meter for digitizing rock joint surface was established and the digitized data were used to calculate several roughness parameters. The parameters used in this study were micro avenge inclination $angle(i_{ave})$, average slope of joint $asperity(SL_{ ave})$, root mean square of $i-angle(i_{rms})$, standard deviation of height(SDH), standard deviation of $i-angle(SD_i)$, roughness profile $index(R_P)$, and fractal dimension(D). The relationships between the roughness parameters based on the digitzation of the surface profile were analyzed. Since the measured value varied according to the degree of reflection and the variation of colors at the measuring point, rock joint surface was painted in white to minimize the influence of the surface conditions. The comparison of the measured values and roughness parameters before and after painting revealed the better consequence from measurement on the painted surfaces. Also, effect of measuring interval was studied. As measured interval was increased, roughness parameters were exponentially decreased. The incremental sequence of degree of decrease was $SDH\; i_{ave},\; i_{rms},\; SD_i,\;and\; R_ p-1$. As a result of comparison of parameters from pin-type measurement system and laser type measurement system, all value of parameters were higher when laser-type measurement system was used, except SDH.

  • The empirical Bayes version involves ″independent″ repetitions(a sequence) of the component decision problem. With the varying sample size possible, these are not identical components. However, we impose the usual assumption that the parameters sequence $\theta$=($\theta$$_1$, $\theta$$_2$, …) consists of independent G-distributed parameters where G is unknown. We assume that G $\in$ g, a known family of distributions. The sample size $N_i$ and the decisin rule $d_i$ for component i of the sequence are determined in an evolutionary way. The sample size $N_1$ and the decision rule $d_1$$\in$ $D_{N1}$ used in the first component are fixed and chosen in advance. The sample size $N_2$and the decision rule $d_2$ are functions of *see full text($\underline{X}^1$equation omitted), the observations in the first component. In general, $N_i$ is an integer-valued function of *see full text(equation omitted) and, given $N_i$, $d_i$ is a $D_{Ni}$/-valued function of *see full text(equation omitted). The action chosen in the i-th component is *(equation omitted) which hides the display of dependence on *(equation omitted). We construct an empirical Bayes decision rule for estimating normal mean and show that it is asymptotically optimal.

  • To fabricate the aluminum alloys with good drawability, the textures evolution of the AA5182 sheets due to the change of lid parameter after rolling and subsequent annealing was studied. The measurement of the deformation textures was carried out for the sheets with high reduction ratio and the change of the recrystallization texture was investigated after heat-treatments of the rolled sheets in various I/d parameters. Rolling without lubrication and subsequent annealing led to the formation of favorable rot-$C_{ND}$ {001}<110> and ${\gamma}$-fiber ND//<111> textures in AA5182 sheets. From the results, the ${\gamma}$-fiber ND//<111> component well evolved during rolling at high lid parameter of 6.77. The initial shear deformation texture, especially, ${\gamma}$-fiber ND//<111> was not rotated during heat treatment in holding time of 180~7,200 seconds on AA5182 with I/d parameter of 6.77. Therefore, the AA5182 sheets were fabricated by controlling I/d parameter having well evolved ${\gamma}$-fiber ND//<111> which was advantageous in good drawability of the sheets.

  • In this paper, we study how to achieve the maximum capacity under delay constraints for large mobile wireless networks. We develop a systematic methodology for studying this problem in the asymptotic region when the number of nodes n in the network is large. We first identify a number of key parameters for a large class of scheduling schemes, and investigate the inherent tradeoffs among the capacity, the delay, and these scheduling parameters. Based on these inherent tradeoffs, we are able to compute the upper bound on the maximum per-node capacity of a large mobile wireless network under given delay constraints. Further, in the process of proving the upper bound, we are able to identify the optimal values of the key scheduling parameters. Knowing these optimal values, we can then develop scheduling schemes that achieve the upper bound up to some logarithmic factor, which suggests that our upper bound is fairly tight. We have applied this methodology to both the i.i.d. mobility model and the random way-point mobility model. In both cases, our methodology allows us to develop new scheduling schemes that can achieve larger capacity than previous proposals under the same delay constraints. In particular, for the i.i.d. mobility model, our scheme can achieve (n-1/3/log3/2 n) per-node capacity with constant delay. This demonstrates that, under the i.i.d. mobility model, mobility increases the capacity even with constant delays. Our methodology can also be extended to incorporate additional scheduling constraints.

  • The microbial organisms named "Pseudomonas sp. LK-14" were isolated from farm land and shallow river sediment, activated, augmented and identified; which were using 2,4-D (2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid) as a sole carbon source and energy source. 2,4-D removal efficiency of LK-14 with 2,4-D sole carbon source (reactor S) were higher than that of Activated Sludge with 2,4-D sole carbon source (reactor A). Dynamic bioligical reaction kinetic parameters (sole carbon source was 2,4-D) obtained from batch reactor experiments were ${\mu}_{max}$ $0.105hr^{-1}$, $K_{s,24D}$ 15.64mg/L, $K_{i,24D}$ $1.94h^{r-1}$, $Y_{24D}$ 0.39 for LK-14 and ${\mu}_{max}$ $0.008hr^{-1}$, $K_{s,24D}$ 26.95mg/L, $K_{i,24D}$ $1.75hr^{-1}$, $Y_{24D}$ 0.10 for Activated Sludge. Using these parameters, we could predict the behaviors of 2,4-D substrate utilized by LK-14 and Activated Sludge in batch reactors. The kinetic parameters are enable to predict the 2,4-D substrate and microbial population behavior entering into wastewater treatment plants by using unsteady states dynamic simulation modeling technique.

  • The relative Arrhenius parameters for t-butoxy radical decomposition (log $A_d$, $E_d$) and hydrogen abstraction of t-butoxy radical from hydrogen donor (log $A_d$, $E_d$) by competitive method were obtained as follows: for cyclohexane; log $A_a/A_d$ = -4.17 mole/l and $E_d-E_a$ = 9.01 kcal/mole, for isobutane; log $A_a/A_d$ = -5.70 mole/l and $E_e-E_a$= 11.0 kcal/mole. From the reported Arrhenius parameters for t-Butoxy radical decomposition reactions the parameters for t-Butoxy radical reactions with isobutane and cyclohexane are estimated to be log $A(l/mol{\cdot}sec)$ = 8.4, $E_a$ = 4.3 kcal/mol and $log A (l/mol{\cdot}sec)= 9.9,\;E_a$ = 6.3 kcal/mol, respectively.

  • In order to understand 3D visual fatigue, it is necessary to examine the visual fatigue induced by camera parameters as well as that induced by a pre-existing 3D content. In the present study, we examined the effects of camera parameters, such as roll misalignment error, shooting distance and vergence condition on 3D visual fatigue and we modelled it. The results indicate that roll misalignment error, shooting distance and vergence condition affect 3D visual fatigue and the effect of roll misalignment error on 3D visual fatigue is evident specifically when screen disparity is relatively small.
