  • This paper considers the mechanical properties test results of the ceramic fiber reinforced plastic using hyper temperature. These materials were developed to make antenna cover which should not only protect antenna from high temperature and high pressure but also transmit and receive radio frequency for hypersonic missile. So the bending strength tests under the room temperature and the hyper temperature for new materials were done to evaluate of their performances. Also, the conductivity, specific heat, diffusivity and density were tested.

  • Effects of manufacturing conditions, such as austenitizing temperature, patenting temperature and carbon content in steels, on mechanical properties, especially on reduction of area (RA), of hyper-eutectoid steel wires were investigated. RA increased and then decreased with transformation temperature. This was attributed to the presence of abnormal structures in steels transformed at low transformation temperatures and the occurrence of shear cracking during tensile testing of steels transformed at high transformation temperatures. The increase of austenitizing temperature resulted in the increased austenite grain size and consequently the decrease of RA. The decrease of RA with increasing the carbon content in steels was attributed to the increased fraction of cleavage fracture in tensile fractured surfaces.

  • HYPER(Hybrid Power Extraction Reactor) is the accelerator driven subcritical transmutation system developed by KAERI(Korea Atomic Research Institute). HYPER is designed to transmute long-lived transuranic actinides and fission products such as Tc-99 and I-129. Liquid lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE). Has been a primary candidate for coolant and spallation neutron target due to its appropriate thermal-physical and chemical properties, However, it is very corrosive to the common steels used in nuclear installations at high temperature. This corrosion problem is one of the main factors considered to set the upper limits of temperature and velocity of HYPER system. In this study, a parametric study for a corrosion model was performed. And a preliminary corrosion model was also developed to predict the corrosion rate in isothermal Pb and LBE flow loops.

  • This paper describes the concept and the characteristics of hyper interfacial bonding developed as a new concept joining process for UFG (ultra-fine grained) steel. Hyper interfacial bonding process is characterized by instantaneous surface melting bonding which involves a series of steps, namely, surface heating by high frequency induction, the rapid removing of heating coil and joining by pressing specimens. UFG steels used in this study have the average grain size of 1.25 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The surface of specimen can be rapidly heated up and melted within 0.2s. Temperature gradient near heated surface is relatively steep, and peak temperature drastically fell down to about 1100K at the depth of 2~3mm away from the heated surface of specimen. Bainite is observed near bond interface, and also M-A (martensite-austenite) islands are observed in HAZ. Grain size increases with increasing heating power, however, the grain size in bonded zone can be restrained under 11 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Hardened zone is limited to near bond interface, and the maximum hardness is Hv350~Hv390.

  • Functionally graded microstructure of centrifugal cast Al-Si alloy, especially distribution of primary Si particles according to the changes of melt pouring temperature and rotation frequency was investigated by numerical simulation. Moving velocity of Si particles increased as the melt pouring temperature and rotational frequency of mold increased. Therefore, segregation tendency of primary Si particles toward inner side of cylindrical sample increased as the melt pouring temperature and rotational frequency of mold increased. Rich distribution region of particles was located at 0.9, 0.7, 0.4 mm from inner surface of cylindrical sample under the centrifugal cast condition of $750^{\circ}C$ melt pouring temperature and 1500, 2000 and 2500 rpm mold rotational frequencies, respectively, by numerical simulation.

  • In this study, effects of silicon addition on the spheroidizing annealing of hyper-eutectoid steel was investigated. Heat treatment at various temperatures in the ${\gamma}+{\theta}$ region was also conducted in order to systematically control the kinetics of undissolved cementite. It was found that small amount of Si addition could increase both $A_1$ and $A_{cm}$ transformation temperature by both the JMat Pro evaluation and dilatometric measurement. It was also revealed by the microstructural observation that the volume fraction of retained cementite during heat treatment increased with decreasing temperature as well as increasing Si content. Based on the results obtained, it could be suggested that spheroidization at relatively higher temperature above $950^{\circ}C$ could be achieved by small addition of Si.

  • With the synthesis of hyper crosslinked polymer particle (HCPP), having microporous structure with hydroxyl functional group, synthesized via polymerization reaction consists of three stepssuspension polymerization, hyper crosslinking by Friedel-Craft catalysis and hydrolysis reaction, the effects of the ratio of each monomer, hyper crosslinking conditions and $CO_2$ supercritical drying on the variations of surface morphology, pore size & distribution and BET surface area of HCPP have been investigated. It was observed that the formation of surface crack or fracture of HCPP was intimately related with the degree of hyper crosslinking reaction between microphase separated domains. And the value of BET surface area of HCPP increased with the increase of reaction temperature, time and the amounts of solvent used in hyper crosslinking step. Moreover, $CO_2$ supercritical drying was proven to be a very effective method for removing stabilizer, unreacted monomers and oligomers from HCPP but needed to add methanol as a co-solvent for efficient removing of residual catalyst.

  • Influence of annealing temperature on the microstructure and resistance to pitting corrosion of the hyper duplex stainless steel was investigated in acid and neutral chloride environments. The pitting corrosion resistance is strongly dependent on the microstructure, especially the presence of chromium nitrides ($Cr_2N$), elemental partitioning behavior and volume fraction of ferrite phase and austenite phase. Precipitation of deleterious chromium nitrides reduces the resistance to pitting corrosion due to the formation of Cr-depleted zone. The difference of PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) values between the ferrite and austenite phases was the smallest when solution heat-treated at $1060^{\circ}C$. Based on the results of electrochemical tests and critical crevice temperature tests, the optimal annealing temperature is determined as $1060^{\circ}C$.

  • A neutral beam system has been developed to produce hyperthermal neutral beams composed of indium, tin, and oxygen atoms. Using these hyper thermal neutral beams with energies in the range of tens of eV, high quality indium-tin oxide (ITO) thin films have been obtained on glass substrates at room temperature. The optical transmittance of the films is higher than 85% at a wavelength of 550 nm and the electrical resistivity is lower than $1{\times}10^{-3}{\Omega}cm$.

  • Novel low temperature deposition process for nano-crystalline Si thin film is developed with the hyper-thermal neutral beam (HNB) technology. By our HNB assisted CVD system, the reactive particles can induce crystalline phase in Si thin films and effectively combine with heating effect on substrate. At low deposition temperature under $80^{\circ}C$, the HNB with proper incident energy controlled by the reflector bias can effectively enhance the nano-crystalline formation in Si thin film without any additional process. The electrical properties of Si thin films can be varied from a-Si to nc-Si according to change of HNB energy and substrate temperature. Characterization of these thin films with conductivity reveal that crystalline of Si thin film can increase by assist of HNB with appropriate energy during low temperature deposition. And low temperature prcoessed nc-Si TFT performance has on-off ratio as order 5.
