Recently, there has been a growing interest in clean hydrogen energy that does not emit carbon dioxide during combustion due to the increasing focus on carbon neutral. Research related to hydrogen production continues, and in this study, we applied waste-derived synthesis gas to the water-gas shift reaction to simultaneously treat waste and produce high-purity hydrogen. To enhance catalytic activity in the high-temperature water-gas shift (HT-WGS) reaction, magnesium was used as a support material alongside cerium. Cu-CeO2-MgO catalysts were synthesized, with copper acting as the active component for the HT-WGS reaction. A study on the catalytic activity based on the preparation method was conducted, and the Cu-CeO2-MgO catalyst prepared by impregnation method exhibited the highest activity in the HT-WGS reaction. The observed superior performance of the Cu-CeO2-MgO catalyst prepared through the impregnation method can be attributed to its significantly higher oxygen storage capacity and amount of active Cu species.

In this study, oxygen functional groups were introduced on activated carbon fibers (ACFs) by oxygen plasma treatment to improve the adsorption performance on an acetic acid which is a sick house syndrome induced gas. The active species was generated more as the flow rate of the oxygen gas increased during the plasma treatment. For this reason, the specific surface area (SSA) of the ACFs decreased with much more physical and chemical etching. In particular, the SSA of the sample (A-O60) injected with an oxygen gas flow rate of 60 sccm was reduced to about $1.198m^2/g$, which was about 6.95% lower than that of the untreated samples. On the other hand, the oxygen content introduced into the surface of ACFs increased up to 35.87%. Also, the adsorption performance on the acetic acid gas of the oxygen plasma-treated ACFs was improved by up to 43% compared to that of using the untreated ACFs. It is attributed to the formation of the hydrogen bonding due to the dipole moments between acetic acid molecules and oxygen functional groups such as O=C-O introduced by the oxygen plasma treatment.
Conversion of methane to synthesis gas in a capacitive rf plasma at low pressure was experimentally studied. In this plasma, electrons which had sufficient energy-level collided with the molecules of methane or oxygen-containing gas, which were than activated and converted to synthesis gas. The effect of input power, various oxygen-containing gas and composition of the gas mixture were investigated. The conversion of methane reached up to 100%. In all cases, hydrogen and carbon oxide were produced as primary products, and other compounds was generated. The conversion of methane and the yield of hydrogen and carbon oxides were increased with increasing the input power. Depending on the oxygen-containing gases, the composition of synthesis gas was varied.

In this paper, performance of the gas turbine combined cycle(GTCC) using pre-combustion carbon capture technology was comparatively analysed. Steam reforming and autothermal reforming were used. In the latter, two different methods were adopted to supply oxygen for the reforming process. One is to extract air form gas turbine compressor (air blowing) and the other is to supply oxygen directly from air separation unit ($O_2$ blowing). To separate $CO_2$ from the reformed gas, the chemical absorption system using MEA solution was used. The net cycle efficiency of the system adopting $O_2$ blown autothermal reforming was higher than the other two systems. The system using air blown autothermal reforming exhibited the largest net cycle power output. In addition to the performance analysis, the influence of fuel reforming and carbon capture on the operating condition of the gas turbine and the necessity of turbine re-design were investigated.

Batch type reduction-oxidation tests were performed to check effects of temperature, pressure, gas velocity, and capacity on reduction characteristics of mass produced particle in a 0.5 MWth chemical looping combustion system. The fuel conversion and the CO2 selectivity increased as the temperature increased and as the gas velocity decreased. However the CO2 selectivity showed the maximum and decreased as the capacity increased because the CO emission increased. The results show that high temperature, low gas velocity and low inert gas concentration are preferable to ensure high reactivity of oxygen carrier in the fuel reactor.
It is difficult to remove such interstitial impurities as sulfur, oxygen, hydrogen and carbon in Fe-Ni alloys. Thermodynamic and kinetic studies were carried out on the behavior of hydrogen gas, oxygen gas, Si, Al and slag, and the reaction time by the $Ar/Ar-H_2$ plasma and electron beam melting. After the addition of Al, Si, they were melted by Ar plasma with reaction time changed. 80%Ni-Fe alloys showed a better deoxidation than 36%Ni-Fe alloys. At $Ar-H_2$ plasma melting, the deoxidation was significant. In the case of the electron beam melting, the residual oxygen was higher than in Ar plasma melting because electron beam melting temperature was lower than that of Ar plasma. For the decaburization, it was melted by $Ar-O_2$ plasma melting, which could remove effectively carbon by activated oxygen in plasma. We added slag to Fe-Ni alloys for the desulfurization. As the result of this experiments, the amount of residual sulfur was not changed according to the slag ratio and reaction time.
To evaluate the performance and durability of membrane, measurement of hydrogen crossover is needed during PEMFC(Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells) operation. In this work, concentration of hydrogen at cathode was analysed by gas chromatograph during operation suppling with air instead of inert gas into the cathode. The hydrogen permeated through membrane reacted with oxygen at cathode and then the concentration of hydrogen was lower than in case inert gas was supplied. Hydrogen concentration decreased as the flow rate of air increased at cathode. Increase of temperature, humidity and pressure of anode gas enhanced the hydrogen concentration at cathode. The hydrogen concentration was about 5.0 ppm at current density of $120mA/cm^2$ during general PEMFC operation.
Quenching effects of acetylene and hydrogen into oxygen detonation by using detonation arrester [DA]are studied in this paper. The experiments were carried out in cylinderical shock tube. 5m long, 30mm dia., with stolchlometric ratio [SR]of each gas and 10-l20$\mu$ Cell Size of brass and Stainless Steel of DAs were installed in it To clarify arresting ability correlation with initial pressure, Pi, critical thickness, Tct, and shapes of supporting panel of DA are also investigated It is found that detonation velocities has most dependency on Pi, it shows notable changes around 0.5kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ for hydrogen, 0.15kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ for acetylen respectively, DA can be safety device able to arrest shock wave of detonation, over Tct flame transmission might be only the factor has to be considered, acetylene seems to be much more stronger detonation characteristics than hydrogen because of reaction heat.

To compare reduction reactivity of oxygen carrier particles, $CH_4$ combustion characteristics were measured and investigated in a bubbling fluidized bed reactor with increasing $CH_4$ concentration from 10 to 100 %. Among five oxygen carriers (OC-1, OC-2, SDN70, C14, C28), OC-1, OC-2, SDN70 particles were selected as better oxygen carriers from the viewpoints of fuel conversion and $CO_2$ selectivity. However, some oxygen carriers showed lower fuel conversion and $CO_2$ selectivity even though they have high oxygen transfer capacity. Therefore, we could conclude that not only TGA tests to measure the oxygen transfer capacity but also fluidized bed tests to analyze exhaust gas concentration should be performed to select better oxygen carrier without misunderstanding of carriers reactivity.

This gas analysis data come from the hydrogen which is produced by proton exchange membrane. Main impurities of hydrogen are methane, oxygen, nitrogen, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide. The concentration of impurities is ranged between 0.0191 to $315{\mu}mol/mol$ for each impurity. Methane contamination is believed from the electrode reaction between carbon doped electrode and produced hydrogen. Nitrogen contamination should take place the sampling process error, not from PEM hydrogen Production system.
