천연가스배관을 통한 수소 혼합공급의 환경적 유용성 평가 (Comparative Evaluation of Environmental Availability for Hydrogen Supply System with Existing Natural Gas Pipeline)

  • 수소의 대표적인 공급방식에는 집중식과 분산식이 있다. 경제성 측면에서 대량수소사용을 위해 집중식이 유리하지만 막대한 공급인프라 구축비용이 단기간에 소요되는 단점이 있다. 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위해 기존의 천연가스배관에 수소를 혼합공급하는 방법이 주목받고 있다. 본 논문에서의 수소혼합공급의 환경적 유용성을 타수소공급방안과 비교하여 분석한 결과에 의하면 수소혼합공급이 환경적으로 유익하며, 특히 지구온난화 감소에 기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • The hydrogen fuel and fuel cell which have high energy efficiency and low pollutant emission are getting interest as an alternative energies due to the fossil fuel exhaust, green house effect and atmospheric pollutant problems. The hydrogen gas is very effective as an alternative energy. But, if it is leaked into the air it forms the mixed gas with the air then the danger of the explosion is risen up. So, the secure the safety is mostly important. In this research, to detect the leakage of the hydrogen rapidly, added the odorant materials which don't include the sulfur component into the hydrogen gas and researched on the effect of each odorant on the performance of the fuel cell. As the results, setting the cumulation electric power on the basis and comparing the pure hydrogen, 2,3-Butanedione 5ppm mixed gas 86.1%, 5-Ethylidene-2-Norbornene 17ppm mixed gas 88.2%, Isovaleraldehyde 10ppm mixed gas 74.8%, Ethyl Isobutyrate 2.2ppm mixed gas 93.5% of performance was shown.

Environmental analysis of present and future fuels in 2D simple model marine gas tubines

  • Increased worldwide concerns about fossil fuel costs and effects on the environment lead many governments and scientific societies to consider the hydrogen as the fuel of the future. Many researches have been made to assess the suitability of using the hydrogen gas as fuel for internal combustion engines and gas turbines; this suitability was assessed from several viewpoints including the combustion characteristics, the fuel production and storage and also the thermodynamic cycle changes with the application of hydrogen instead of ordinary fossil fuels. This paper introduces the basic environmental differences happening when changing the fuel of a marine gas turbine from marine diesel fuel to gaseous hydrogen for the same power output. Environmentally, the hydrogen is the best when the $CO_2$ emissions are considered, zero carbon dioxide emissions can be theoretically attained. But when the $NO_x$ emissions are considered, the hydrogen is not the best based on the unit heat input. The hydrogen produces 270% more $NO_x$ than the diesel case without any control measures. This is primarily due to the increased air flow rate bringing more nitrogen into the combustion chamber and the increased combustion temperature (10% more than the diesel case). Efficient and of course expensive $NO_x$ control measures are a must to control these emissions levels.

  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films have been prepared by a widely-used plasma CVD with an rf (13.56MHz) plasma of $CH_4$ gas. The hydrogen incorporated in DLC films plays an important role of determining the film properties, but its exact role has not been clear. In this study, the effect of hydrogen on the film properties of DLC has been examined by adding the hydrogen gas to the $CH_4$ gas during deposition and by exposing the prepared film to the hydrogen plasma. As the content of additive hydrogen gas increases, the density and hardness of the film increase, but the growth rate decreases. The FT-IR spectroscopy results show that the number of C-H bonds decreases with increasing the hydrogen gas. Also, the variation in the position of "G" and "D" peaks due to additive hydrogen, which has been measured by the Raman spectroscopy, indicates of $sp^3$ fraction.

  • Pipeline steels for hydrogen transmission may cause hydrogen embrittlement due to absorption and diffusion of hydrogen through metals. Hydrogen pipes exhibited similar mechanical properties to atmospheric conditions in terms of tensile and yield strength in a hydrogen atmosphere. This paper aims to provide relevant information regarding hydrogen embrittlement in hydrogen transmission pipeline.

  • This paper describes gas turbine combustion characteristics of synthetic natural gas which contains a small amount hydrogen content. By conducting ambient pressure high temperature combustion test at gas turbine relevant combustor geometry, the combustion characteristics such as combustion instability, NOx and CO emission, temperatures at turbine inlet, nozzle and dump plane, and flame structure from high speed OH chemiluminescence images were investigated when changing hydrogen content from zero to 5%. From the results, qualitative and quantitative relationships are derived between key aspects of combustion performance, notably NOx/CO emission and combustion instability. Natural gas containing hydrogen up to 5% does not show significant difference in view of all combustion characteristics except combustion instability. Only up to 1% hydrogen addition could not change the pressure fluctuation and phase gas between fluctuations of pressure and heat release. From the results, it can be concluded that synthetic national gas which contains 1% of hydrogen can be guaranteed for the stable and reliable operation of natural gas firing gas turbine.

수소가스사고의 피해범위 (Hazard Distance from Hydrogen Accidents)

  • 수소가스의 제트 누출에 의한 확산, 화재, 그리고 폭발에 의한 위험 범위를 분석하고, 안전거리 기준을 설정하기 위한 위험거리를 확산, 화재, 그리고 폭발에 대한 단순한 예측 식들을 제시하였다. 핀홀에 의한 누출과 같은 소량 수소가스 누출속도에 있어서 피해거리는 제트누출 확산에 의한 피해거리가 제트화재에 의한 피해거리보다 크며, 압력의 제곱근에 그리고 누출 홀의 직경에 비례하고 이는 수 십 미터에 이른다. 배관의 완전 파손 또는 저장 탱크의 큰 홀 발생과 같은 대량의 수소가스 누출속도에서는 제트화재의 피해거리가 개방공간의 가스운 폭발에 의한 피해거리보다 크며, 수 백 미터에 이른다. 수소충전소와 건물과의 최소이격거리 즉 안전거리 설정 기준을 대량 수소가스누출 사고시나리오를 기반으로 한다면, 도심지에 수소충전소는 안전거리 기준을 만족시키기 어려울 것이다. 따라서 대량의 수소가스 누출사고를 안전장치들을 통하여 예방하고, 안전거리 기준을 소량의 수소가스누출사고 기준으로 설정 할 수 있다. 그러나 대량누출 가능성이 있는 경우 학교와 병원 등 인구밀집 건물은 수 백 미터의 안전거리를 유지하여야 한다.

수성 가스 전이반응에서 $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ 합금 분리막의 수소분리 (Hydrogen separation of $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ Alloy Membrane in Water-gas shift Reaction)

  • 팔라듐이 코팅된 $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ 합금 분리막을 통해 sweep 가스를 사용하지 않고 수소 투과 시 혼합가스의 영향에 대해 알아보았다. 분리막은 $400^{\circ}C$에서 sweep 가스를 사용하지 않고 순수 수소, 수소/이산화탄소, 수소/일산화탄소의 혼합가스를 1.5~8.0 bar의 압력으로 실험하였다. Sweep 가스를 사용하지 않고 수소만을 공급한 투과 실험에서 팔라듐 코팅된 $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ 합금 분리막(두께 : 0.5 mm)의 수소 투과량은 $40.7mL/min/cm^2$였다. 또한 수소/이산화탄소를 공급한 투과실험에서 $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ 합금 분리막의 수소 투과량은 $21.4mL/min/cm^2$였다. 수소/이산화탄소 및 수소/일산화탄소 혼합가스를 각각 공급할 때 투과량은 압력에 상관없이 수소 분압 감소 만큼 감소하였고 모든 경우 Sievert 법칙을 잘 만족시켰다. 투과 후 분리막의 XRD, SEM/EDX 결과로부터 $V_{99.8}B_{0.2}$ 합금 분리막은 여러 혼합가스에 대해 안정성과 내구성이 우수하다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

수소전기차용 EPDM 고무의 충전재 입자 크기별 고압 수소 환경에서의 거동 연구 (Influence of Filler Particle Size on Behaviour of EPDM Rubber for Fuel Cell Vehicle Application under High-Pressure Hydrogen Environment)

  • In this study, ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) rubbers reinforced with various particle size of carbon black were prepared and tested. We followed recently published CSA/ANSI CHMC2 standard "the test methods for evaluating material compatibility in compressed hydrogen applications-polyemr". Measurement of change in hardness, tensile strength and volume were performed after exposure to maximum operating pressure, 87.5 MPa, for 168 hours (1 week). Once EPDM was exposed to high-pressure hydrogen, the samples experience volume increase and degradation of the physical properties. Also, after the dissolved hydrogen was fully eliminated from the specimens, the hardness and the tensile properties were not recovered. The rubber reinforced with smaller sizes of carbon black particles showed less volume expansion and decrease of physical properties. As a result, smaller particle size of carbon black filler led to more resistance to high-pressure hydrogen.

가스센서를 이용한 부분방전특성에 따른 유중수소가스 측정연구 (Measurement Technology of the Dissolved Hydrogen Gas Due to Partial Discharge in Oil using Gas Sensor)

  • This paper describes the measurement technology of the dissolved hydrogen gas due to partial discharge in oil using gas sensor. For higher resolution and less error in measurement of the dissolved hydrogen gas in oil, the sensor outputs with ambient temperature which affect the sensor output characteristics should be considered. The sensor output trends with ambient temperature and the properties of the dissolved hydrogen gas in oil with partial discharge characteristic were analyzed through the test results. It was indicated that the sensor peak and the base voltage with measuring time were affected by ambient temperature and the measurement errors of the sensor output by temperature were reduced by using the difference between the peak and the base voltage rather than just the peak voltage. In addition, the hydrogen gas sensor outputs were increased with the increase of partial discharge energy.
