음이온교환막 연료전지를 위한 TiO2 함량 조절에 따른 QPAE/TiO2-x 복합막의 치수안정성 및 이온전도도 동시 개선 연구 (Simultaneous Improvement of Dimensional Stability and Ionic Conductivity of QPAE/TiO2-x Composite Membranes According to TiO2 Content Control for Anion Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells)

  • A series of QPAE/TiO2-x (x = 1, 4, 7 and 10 wt%) organic/inorganic composite membranes were prepared as electrolyte membranes for alkaline anion exchange membrane fuel cells by controlling the content of inorganic filler with quaternized poly(arylene ether) (QPAE) random copolymer. Among the prepared QPAE/TiO2-x organic/inorganic composite membranes, the highest ionic conductivity was 26.6 mS cm-1 at 30℃ in QPAE/TiO2-7 composite membrane, which was improvement over the ionic conductivity value of 6.4 mS cm-1 (at 30℃) of the pristine QPAE membrane. Furthermore, the water uptake, swelling ratio, ionic exchange capacity, and thermal property of QPAE/TiO2-x composite membranes were improved compared to the pristine QPAE membrane. The results of these studies suggest that the fabricated QPAE/TiO2-x composite membranes have good prospects for alkaline anion exchange membrane fuel cell applications.

차량용 복합소재 수소연료탱크의 강도안전성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Strength Safety of a Composite Hydrogen Fuel Tank for a Vehicle)

  • 본 연구에서는 미국의 DOT-CFFC와 한국의 KS 기준에 근거하여 수소가스 복합소재 연료탱크에 대한 강도안전성을 FEM으로 해석하였다. 알루미늄 라이너 소재인 6061-T6와 탄소섬유 복합소재인 T800-24K로 적층이 형성되도록 감은 수소가스 복합소재 연료탱크는 130L의 저장용량을 갖으며, 70MPa의 충전압력으로 수소가스가 채워진다. FEM 해석결과에 의하면, 내부탱크를 형성하는 알루미늄 라이너에 작용하는 von Mises 응력 255.2MPa은 알루미늄 소재의 항복응력 대비 95%인 272MPa보다 낮기 때문에 안전하다. 또한, 복합소재 연료탱크에서 후프방향의 탄소섬유 응력비는 3.11이고, 헤리컬방향의 응력비는 3.04인 것으로 나타났다. 이들 응력비 데이터는 탄소섬유 복합소재 연료탱크에서 안전기준으로 권고한 2.4에 비해 높기 때문에 양방향 모두에서 안전하다. 따라서 70MPa의 충전압력을 갖는 130L 저장용량의 복합소재 연료탱크에 대한 강도안전성은 유용한 것으로 판단된다.

화력발전용 복수기 폐열 회수를 위한 유기랭킨사이클 시스템 열교환 특성 해석 (A Heat Exchanging Characteristics of Organic Rankine Cycle for Waste Heat Recovery of Coal Fired Power Plant)

  • Organic Rankine cycle (ORC) is an useful cycle for power generation system with low temperature heat sources ($80{\sim}400^{\circ}C$). Since the boiling point of operating fluid is low, the system is used to recover the low temperature heat source of waste heat energy. In this study, a ORC with R134a is applied to recover the waste energy of condenser of coal fired power plant. A system model is developed via Thermolib$^{(R)}$ under Simulink/MATLAB environment. The model is composed of a refrigerant heat exchanger for heat recovery from coal fired condenser, a drum, turbine, heat exchanger for ORC heat rejection, storage tank, water recirculation pump and water drip pump. System analysis parameters were heat recovery capacity, type of refrigerants, and types of turbines. The simulation model is used to analyze the heat recovery capacity of ORC power system. As a result, increasing the overall heat transfer coefficient to become the largest of turbine power is the most economical.

HEV 및 PEMFC 연료전지용 니켈수소 전지의 전극재료에 대한 전기화학적 평가 (Electrochemical Study of Electrode Material of Ni-MH Battery for HEV and PEMFC Fuel Cell)

  • 본 논문은 마이크로 전극 측정 시스템을 사용하여 차세대 신동력 산업인 HEV(Hybrid Electric Vehicle) 및 수소연료전지(PEMFC) 차량용 니켈 수소전지의 전극소재로 사용되고 있는 수소저장합금(Mm : misch metal, $MmNi_{3.55}Co_{0.75}Mn_{0.4}Al_{0.3}$)의 단일 입자에 대해 전기화학적 수소 흡방출 특성 평가를 수행 하였다. 즉 Carbon fiber 마이크로 전극을 합금 입자 한개 위에 전기적인 접촉을 이루도록 조정하고, Cyclic Voltammetry 및 Galvanostatic 충방전 실험을 수행하였다. 그 결과 단일 입자의 방전용량은 약 280[mAh/g]로 이론용량의 약 90[%]의 특성을 보여 주었다. 데이터는. 실제 Ni-MH전지를 구성하는 합금입자 그리고 폴리머 바인더로 구성된 Composite film 전극과 비교 하였다. 추가적으로 합금의 단일 입자에 있어 in situ 미분화 현상을 관찰하였다. 마이크로 전극 측정 시스템에 의한 단일 입자의 전기화학적 평가는 기존의 Composite Film 전극에 비해 수소저장합금에 대해 보다 상세하고 정확한 정보를 쉽게 얻을 수 있었다.

WGS 반응에서 Pt-Na/Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O2 촉매의 구조에 따른 Na 영향에 대한 연구 (A Study on Na effect of Pt-Na/Ce(1-x)Zr(x)O2 Catalyst Structure for WGS Reaction)

  • The interest in water gas shift (WGS) reaction has grown significantly, as a result of the recent advances in fuel cell technology and the need to develop small-scale fuel processors. Recently, researchers have tried to overcome the disadvantages of the commercial WGS catalysts. As a consequence, supported Pt catalysts have attracted a lot of researchers due to high activity and stability for WGS at low temperatures. In this study, $Pt-Na/Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts with various Ce/Zr ratio have been applied to WGS at a gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of $45,515h^{-1}$. According to TPR patterns of $Pt-Na/Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts, the reducibility increases with decreasing the $ZrO_2$ content. As a result, Cubic structure $Pt-Na/Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts exhibited higher CO conversion than tetragonal structure $Pt-Na/Ce_{(1-x)}Zr_{(x)}O_2$ catalysts. Expecially, Pt-Na/$CeO_2$ exhibited the highest CO conversion as well as 100% selectivity to $CO_2$. Moreover, Pt-Na/$CeO_2$ catalyst showed relatively stable activity with time on stream. The high activity of cubic structure Pt-Na/$CeO_2$ catalyst was correlated to its higher oxygen storage capacity (OSC) of $CeO_2$ and easier reducibility of Pt/$CeO_2$.

$AB_5$계 수소저장합금의 Zr, Ti 및 V 첨가에 따른 전기화학적특성 (Electrochemical properties of $AB_5$-type Hydrogen alloys upon addition of Zr, Ti and V)

  • There are two types of metal hydride electrodes as a negative electrode in a Ni-MH battery, $AB_2$ Zr-based Laves phases and $AB_5$ LM(La-rich mischmetal)-based alloys. The $AB_5$ alloy electrodes have characteristic properties such as a large discharge capacity per volume, easiness in activation, long cycle life and a low cost of alloy. However they have a relatively small discharge capacity per weight. The $AB_2$alloy electrodes have a much higher discharge capacity per weight than $AB_5$ alloy electrodes, however they have some disadvantages of poor activation behavior and cycle life. Therefore, in order to improve the discharge capacity of the $AB_5$ alloy electrode the Zr, Ti and V which are the alloying elements of the $AB_2$ alloys were added to the $LaNi_{3.6}Ai_{0.4}Co_{0.7}Mn_{0.3}$ alloy which was chosen as a $AB_5$ alloy with a high capacity. The addition of Zr, Ti and V to $LaNi_{3.6}Ai_{0.4}Co_{0.7}Mn_{0.3}$ alloy improved the activation to be completed in two cycles. The discharge capacities of Zr 0.02, Ti 0.02 and V 0.1 alloys in $LaNi_{3.6}Ai_{0.4}Co_{0.7}Mn_{0.3}M_y$ (M = Zr, Ti, V) were respectively 346, 348 and 366 mAh/g alloy. The alloy electrodes, Zr 0.02, Ti 0.05 and V 0.1 in $LaNi_{3.6}Ai_{0.4}Co_{0.7}Mn_{0.3}M_y$ (M = Zr, Ti, V), have shown good cycle property after 200 cycles. The rate capability of the $LaNi_{3.6}Ai_{0.4}Co_{0.7}Mn_{0.3}M_y$ (M = Zr, Ti, V) alloy electrodes were very good until 0.6 C rate and the alloys, Zr 0.02, Ti 0.05 and V 0.1, have shown the best result as 92 % at 2.4 C rate. The charge retention property of the $LaNi_{3.6}Ai_{0.4}Co_{0.7}Mn_{0.3}M_y$ (M = Zr, Ti, V) alloys was not good and the alloys with M content from 0.02 to 0.05 showed better charge retention properties.

아연-공기 전지용 전해질의 Gelling Agent 분자량에 따른 자가 방전 억제 효과 (Effect of Gelling Agent Molecular Weight on Self-Discharge Behavior for Zinc-Air Batteries)

  • A zinc-air battery is one of most promising advanced batteries due to its high specific energy density, low cost, and environmental friendliness. However, zinc anodes in zinc-air batteries lead to several issues including self-discharge, corrosion reaction, and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). In this paper, viscosity of electrolyte has been controlled to suppress the corrosion reaction, HER, and self-discharge behavior. Various viscosity average molecular weights of poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) are adopted to prepare the electrolyte. The evaporation of electrolytes is proportional to the increase in molecular weight. In addition, enhanced self-discharge behavior is obtained when the gelling agent with high molecular weight is used. In addition, the zinc-air cell assembled with lower viscosity average molecular weight of PAA (Mv ~ 450,000) delivers 510.85 mAh/g and 489.30 mAh/g of discharge capacity without storage and with 6 hr storage, respectively. Also, highest capacity retention (95.78 %) is obtained among studied materials.

기계적 합금화법으로 제조된 $MgH_x-Fe_2O_3$ 복합재료의 수소화 특성 평가 (The Evaluation of Hydrogenation Properties on $MgH_x-Fe_2O_3$ Composite by Mechanical Alloying)

  • Hydrogen has a high potential to be a renewable substitute for fossil fuels, because of its high gravimetric energy density and environment friendliness. In particular, Magnesium have attracted much interest since their hydrogen capacity exceeds that of known metal hydrides. One of the approaches to improve the kinetic is addition of metal oxide. In this paper, the effect of $Fe_2O_3$ concentration on the kinetics of Mg hydrogen absorption reaction was investigated. $MgH_x-Fe_2O_3$ composites have been synthesized by hydrogen induced mechanical alloying. The powder synthesized was characterized by XRD, SEM and simultaneous TG, DSC analysis. The hydrogenation behaviors were evaluated by using a sievert's type automatic PCT apparatus. Absorption and desorption kinetics of Mg catalyzed with 5,10 mass% $Fe_2O_3$ are determined at 423, 473, 523, 573, 623K.

Effect of CNT Addition on the Hydriding and Dehydriding Rates of Mg-Ni-Fe2O3 Alloy

  • Samples with compositions of 80 wt% Mg-14 wt% Ni-6 wt% $Fe_2O_3$ (named $Mg-Ni-Fe_2O_3$), and 78 wt% Mg-14 wt% Ni-6 wt% $Fe_2O_3-2$ wt% CNT (named $Mg-Ni-Fe_2O_3-CNT$ ) were prepared by reactive mechanical grinding. Hydriding and dehydriding properties and effects of CNT addition on the hydriding and dehydriding rates of $Mg-Ni-Fe_2O_3$ were then investigated. Activation of the $Mg-14Ni-6Fe_2O_3$ sample was completed after three hydriding (under 12 bar $H_2$)-dehydriding (under 1.0 bar $H_2$) cycles at 573 K. The addition of CNT to the $Mg-14Ni-6Fe_2O_3$ sample made the activation process unnecessary, with a small decrease in the hydrogen-storage capacity.

Ni-MH 2차전지용 AB2계 Zr-Mn-Ni 수소저장합금의 개발 (Development of AB2-Type Zr-Mn-Ni Hydrogen-Storage Alloys for Ni-MH Secondary Battery)

  • Zr-Mn-Ni 3성분계 합금으로서 $ZrMn_2Ni_x$ (x=0.0, 0.3, 0.6, 0.9 and 1.2) 합금을 제작하여 이들의 수소저장특성과 전기화학적 특성을 조사한 결과 $ZrMn_2Ni_x$ 모든 조성에서 C14 Laves phase가 형성되었다. 여러 합금 중에서 $ZrMn_2Ni_{0.6}$ 합금이 비교적 활성화가 빨리 이루어졌고(약 11회 싸이클 후), 방전용량이 가장 컸다(최대 45mAh/g). 모든 합금에서 6M KOH 전해질에 Zr이 가장 잘 용해되었다. $ZrMn_2Ni_{0.6}$ 합금은 다른 합금들에 비해 Mn과 Ni이 더 많이 용해되었다. $ZrMn_2Ni_{0.6}$ 합금이 비교적 활성화가 빨리 이루어지고 방전용량이 컸는데, 이에 따른 활발한 충 방전으로 인하여 Zr, Mn, Ni이 많이 용해되어 나온 것으로 사려된다.
