In general, slope failures are occurred by the interaction among various factors(slope shape, hydraulic condition, and geologic condition, etc.). Hydraulic condition was a very important factor of a stability in cut slope and a dangerous of road passing. In this study, two cut-slope case on prescription of spring out water present. And this study data is used at practical affairs.
A correct understanding of vibration-based degradation is crucial from the standpoint of maintenance for Steam Generators (SG) as crucial mechanical equipment in nuclear power plants. This study has established a novel approach to developing a model for investigating tube bundle degradation according to crack growth caused by two-phase Flow-Induced Vibration (FIV). An important step in the approach is to calculate the two-phase flow field parameters between the SG tube bundles in various zones using the porous media model to determine the velocity and vapor volume fraction. Afterward, to determine the vibration properties of the tube bundles, the Fluid-Solid Interaction (FSI) analysis is performed in eighteen thermal-hydraulic zones. Tube bundle degradation based on crack growth using the sixteen most probable initial cracks and within each SG thermal-hydraulic zone is performed to calculate useful lifetime. Large Eddy Simulation (LES) model, Paris law, and Wiener process model are considered to model the turbulent crossflow around the tube bundles, simulation of elliptical crack growth due to the vibration characteristics, and estimation of SG tube bundles degradation, respectively. The analysis shows that the tube deforms most noticeably in the zone with the highest velocity. As a result, cracks propagate more quickly in the tube with a higher height. In all simulations based on different initial crack sizes, it was observed that zone 16 experiences the greatest deformation and, subsequently, the fastest degradation, with a velocity and vapor volume fraction of 0.5 m/s and 0.4, respectively.
Flow exchanges between stream and groundwater are assessed on urban streams in Daegu, Korea. Two rivers and 25 streams with the total length of 240 km run through the study area. The interaction between surface water and groundwater was estimated using Darcy's method. The study was conducted by dividing the basin into 16 smaller watersheds, and for comparison purposes. Groundwater level, surface water level, hydraulic conductivity, thickness of aquifer, and the distance between the well and the nearest stream were used for quantifying the interaction. To investigations the groundwater interaction in the watersheds, the amount of effluent seepage from groundwater to the stream, the amount of influent seepage from the stream to groundwater, and the amount of annual interaction between surface water and groundwater were computed. The total amount of effluent seepage from the groundwater to stream in the basin was approximately $72{\times}10^6m^3/year$. The total amount of influent seepage from the stream to groundwater was approximately $35{\times}10^6m^3/year$. It appeared that the total amount of annual interaction between surface water and groundwater was approximately $108{\times}10^6m^3/year$ and the total groundwater flow balance was approximately $37{\times}10^6m^3/year$. The annual amount of interaction between the surface water and groundwater was the largest in the Goryung Bridge Basin($29{\times}10^6m^3/year$) and the least in the Dalchang Dam Basin($0.2{\times}10^6m^3/year$). The results show that flow exchanges between stream and groundwater are very active and that there are significant difference among the smaller watersheds. Finally, the results indicate that it is necessary to further investigate to more precisely understand the interaction characteristics between surface water and groundwater in urban areas.

Effects of the design flood share of the Kyeongpo retarding basin, which has a function for flood control of the Kyeongpo river assigned to the Kyeongpo prickly water lily wetland, on the Kyeongpo lake and the downstream of Kyeongpo river were analyzed on the bassis of the hydraulic experiments and the numerical simulations using RMA-2 model. Reproducing a complex water flow system of the area of Kyeongpo lake, the unsteady flow simulations were performed. The data obtained in hydraulic experiments were used to determine parameters of the numerical model which simulated the flows for various flood scenarios in the downstream area of Kyeongpo river. With increasing the design flood share rates in the retarding basin, the water level was increased in the lake and is decreased in the river. The characteristics of flood flow interaction between Kyeongpo river and Kyeongpo lake were understood. These results may be used to management the Kyeongpo lake during flood season.
Vortex-induced vibrations of a yawed flexible cylinder near a plane boundary are numerically investigated at a Reynolds number Ren= 500 based on normal component of freestream velocity. Free to oscillate in the in-line and cross-flow directions, the cylinder with an aspect ratio of 25 is pinned-pinned at both ends at a fixed wall-cylinder gap ratio G/D = 0.8, where D is the cylinder diameter. The cylinder yaw angle (α) is varied from 0° to 60° with an increment of 15°. The main focus is given on the influence of α on structural vibrations, flow patterns, hydrodynamic forces, and IP (Independence Principle) validity. The vortex shedding pattern, contingent on α, is parallel at α=0°, negatively-yawed at α ≤ 15° and positively-yawed at α ≥ 30°. In the negatively- and positively-yawed vortex shedding patterns, the inclination direction of the spanwise vortex rows is in the opposite and same directions of α, respectively. Both in-line and cross-flow vibration amplitudes are symmetric to the midspan, regardless of α. The RMS lift coefficient CL,rms exhibits asymmetry along the span when α ≠ 0°, maximum CL,rms occurring on the lower and upper halves of the cylinder for negatively- and positively-yawed vortex shedding patterns, respectively. The IP is well followed in predicting the vibration amplitudes and drag forces for α ≤ 45° while invalid in predicting lift forces for α ≥ 30°. The vortex-shedding frequency and the vibration frequency are well predicted for α = 0° - 60° examined.
Several experimental tests to simulate a reflood phase of a cold-leg LBLOCA of the APR1400 have been performed using the ATLAS facility. This paper describes the related experimental results with respect to the thermal-hydraulic behavior in the core and the system-core interactions during the reflood phase of the cold-leg LBLOCA conditions. The present descriptions will be focused on the LB-CL-09, LB-CL-11, LB-CL-14, and LB-CL-15 tests performed using the ATLAS. The LB-CL-09 is an integral effect test with conservative boundary condition; the LB-CL-11 and -14 are integral effect tests with realistic boundary conditions, and the LB-CL-15 is a separated effect test. The objectives of these tests are to investigate the thermal-hydraulic behavior during an entire reflood phase and to provide reliable experimental data for validating the LBLOCA analysis methodology for the APR1400. The initial and boundary conditions were obtained by applying scaling ratios to the MARS simulation results for the LBLOCA scenario of the APR1400. The ECC water flow rate from the safety injection tanks and the decay heat were simulated from the start of the reflood phase. The simulated core power was controlled to be 1.2 times that of the ANS-73 decay heat curve for LB-CL-09 and 1.02 times that of the ANS-79 decay curve for LB-CL-11, -14, and -15. The simulated ECC water flow rate from the high pressure safety injection pump was 0.32 kg/s. The present experimental data showed that the cladding temperature behavior is closely related to the collapsed water level in the core and the downcomer.
Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) modeling is highly effective to reveal deformations, fatigue failures, and stresses on a solid domain caused by the fluid flow. Mechanical properties of the solid structures and the thermophysical properties of fluids can change under different operating conditions. In this study, we investigated the interaction of [45/-45]2 wounded composite tubes with the fluid flows suddenly pressurized to 5 Bar, 10 Bar, and 15 Bar at the ambient temperatures of 24℃, 66℃, and 82℃, respectively. Numerical analyzes were performed under each temperature and pressure condition and the results were compared depending on the time in a period and along the length of the tube. The main purpose of this study is to present the effects of the variations in fluid characteristics by temperature and pressure on the structural response. The variation of the thermophysical properties of the fluid directly affects the deformation and stress in the material due to the Wall Shear Stress (WSS) generated by the fluid flow. The increase or decrease in WSS directly affected the deformations. Results show that the increase in deformation is more than 50% between 5 Bar and 10 Bar for the same operating condition and it is more than 100% between 5 Bar and 15 Bar by the increase in pressure, as expected in terms of the solid mechanics. In the case of the increase in the temperature of fluid and ambient, the WSS and Von Mises stress decrease while the slight increases of deformations take place on the tube. On the other hand, two-way FSI modeling is needed to observe the effects of hydraulic shock and developing flow on the structural response of composite tubes.

This paper suggests a novel approach of integrating the quasi-distributed watershed model SWAT with the fully-distributed groundwater model MODFLOW. Since the SWAT model has semi distributed features, its groundwater components hardly considers distributed parameters such as hydraulic conductivity and storage coefficient. Generating a detailed representation of groundwater recharge, head distribution and pumping rate is equally difficult. To solve these problems, the method of exchanging the characteristics of the hydrologic response units (HRUs) in SWAT with cells in MODFLOW by fully combined manner is proposed. The linkage is completed by considering the interaction between the stream network and the aquifer to reflect boundary flow. This approach is provisionally applied to Gyungancheon basin in Korea. The application demonstrates a combined model which enables an interaction between saturated zones and channel reaches. This interaction plays an essential role in the runoff generation in the Gyungancheon basin. The comprehensive results show a wide applicability of the model which represents the temporal-spatial groundwater head distribution and recharge.

Kwon et al.(2008) carried out a hydraulic experiment in order to evaluate Manning coefficient, which implicates flow resistance due to bottom friction as well as drag caused by the squared piers higher than water depth and arranged with equal intervals, under the flow condition with a constant drag coefficient, $Re>10^4$. And, based on the equation of equilibrium, they proposed a formula for the equivalent resistant coefficient including empirical drag interaction coefficient obtained by using the experimental results. In this study, the hydraulic experiment was simulated using FLOW-3D, a 3-dimensional computational fluid dynamic code. The computations were compared with the experiment results as well as the semi-theoretical formula, and the comparisons show a good agreement. From the agreement, it was confirmed that when flow resistance bodies were higher than water depth, Manning n value increases with 2/3 power of water depth as shown in the theoretical formula and that drag interaction coefficient was dominated by their intervals.

WAM(WAve Model), deep water wave model has been extended to the region of shallow water, incorporating wave breaking, and triad wave interaction. To verify this model, two numerical simulations for hydraulic experiments of Chawla et al.(1998) and Beji and Battjes(1993) are performed. The computed results show good agreements with measured ones. To identify its applicability to real sea, it is applied to storm wave modelling for typhoon Maemi. Numerical results compared with measured ones at Geoje, Busan and Ulsan show reasonable wave height estimations.
