In this study, we propose a new three-node hybrid-mixed curved beam element with the relaxed-equiribrium stress functions for static analysis. The proposed element considering shear deformation is based on the Hellinger-Reissner variational principle. The stress functions are carefully chosen from three important considerations: (i) all the kinematic deformation modes must be suppressed, and (ii) the spurious constraints must be removed in the limiting behaviors via the field-consistency, and (iii) the relaxed equilibrium conditions could be incorporated because it might be impossible to select the stress functions and parameters to fully satisfy both the equiribrium conditions and the suppression of kinematic deformation modes in the three-node curved beam hybrid-mixed formulation. Numerical examples confirm the superior and stable behavior of the proposed element regardless of slenderness ratio and curvature. Besides, the proposed element shows the outstanding performance in predicting the stress resultant distributions.

Reinforced concrete beam are very diverse materials that are used to bending reinforcement. Recently the case of FRP flexural reinforcement is actively being used is an excellent weight - rigidity. However, use of FRP bending reinforcement in brittleness material properties of concrete in an actual field application causes destruction of detachment and attachment is being considered as a major cause of destruction. For hybrid laminating plates, tensile and three-point bending tests were performed considering various designs and fabricating methods for hybrid FRP plates. Tensile property of each test specimen was investigated and the research parameter of hybrid laminating plates considered here is the combining ratio of fiber to aluminum contents.

Although nanosecond pulsed laser drilling and milling are rapid and non-wear processes in micromachining, the quality cannot meet the precision standard due to the recast layer and heat affected zone. On the other hand, electrical discharge machining (EDM) is a well-known high precision machining process in micro scale; however, the low material removal rate (MRR) and tool wear remain as drawbacks. In this paper, hybrid process of laser beam machining (LBM) using nanosecond pulsed laser and micro EDM was studied for micro drilling and milling. While the quality of the micro structure fabricated by this hybrid process remains as high as direct EDM, the machining time and tool wear can be reduced. In addition, variable depth of layer was introduced as an effective method improving efficiency of hybrid milling.
The effects of fiber surface-treatment and sizing on the dynamic mechanical properties of unidirectional and 2-directional carbon fiber/nylon 6 composites by means of dynamic mechanical analysis have been investigated in the present study. The interlaminar shear strengths of 2-directional carbon/nylon 6 composites sized with various thermosetting and thermoplastic resins are also measured using a short-beam shear test method. The result suggests that different surface-treatment levels onto carbon fibers may influence the storage modulus and tan ${\delta}$ behavior of carbon/nylon 6 composites, reflecting somewhat change of the stiffness and the interfacial adhesion of the composites. Dynamic mechanical analysis and short-beam shear test results indicate that appropriate use of a sizing material upon carbon fiber composite processing may contribute to enhancing the interfacial and/or interlaminar properties of woven carbon fabric/nylon 6 composites, depending on their resin characteristics and processing temperature.

In this study, the nature of brittleness, one of the main problems of GFRP(Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic) Re-bar, is improved. Therefore, Hybrid GFRP Rod is developed by attaching FBG sensor to the new GFRP Rod with toughness, essential for flexural reinforcement of the concrete. The test was performed with specimens of Hybrid GFRP Rod. According to the test, data measured by electric gauge sensor are compared with data measured by FBG sensor.
Tension and Membrane have the potential to enable the realization of lightweight structures that have the attractive features of structures efficiency and aesthetical expression. Compared with pure (thorough-bred) tension structures such as cable net, air dome and tensegrity, so called hybrid tension structures such as beam string, tensegric system and other mixed structures have Potential still to be realized. After synnaruzubg the simple definition of tensegric structure, some holistic designs for hybrid tension structures completed recently in the author's practice are given.

Objective : To describe our experiences with a fully equipped high-end digital subtraction angiography (DSA) system within a hybrid operating room (OR). Methods : A single-plane DSA system with 3-dimensional rotational angiography, cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT), and real-time navigation software was used in our hybrid OR. Between April 2014 and January 2018, 191 sessions of cerebrovascular procedures were performed in our hybrid OR. After the retrospective review of all cases, the procedures were categorized into three subcategorical procedures : combined endovascular and surgical procedure, complementary rescue procedure during intervention and surgery, and frameless stereotaxic operation. Results : Forty-nine of 191 procedures were performed using hybrid techniques. Four cases of blood blister aneurysms and a ruptured posterior inferior cerebellar artery aneurysm were treated using bypass surgery and endovascular trapping. Eight cases of ruptured aneurysm with intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) were treated by partial embolization and surgical clipping. Six cases of ruptured arteriovenous malformation with ICH were treated by Onyx embolization of nidus and subsequent surgical removal of nidus and ICH. Two (5.4%) of the 37 cases of pre-mature rupture during clipping were secured by endovascular coil embolization. In one (0.8%) complicated case of 103 intra-arterial thrombectomy procedures, emergency surgical embolectomy with bypass surgery was performed. In 27 cases of ICH, frameless stereotaxic hematoma aspiration was performed using $XperGuide^{(R)}$ system (Philips Medical Systems, Best, the Netherlands). All procedures were performed in single sessions without any procedural complications. Conclusion : Hybrid OR with a fully equipped DSA system could provide precise and safe treatment strategies for cerebrovascular diseases. Especially, we could suggest a strategy to cope flexibly in complex lesions or unexpected situations in hybrid OR. CBCT with real-time navigation software could augment the usefulness of hybrid OR.

The use of new hybrid systems that combine the advantages of steel and reinforced concrete structures has gained popularity. One of these new mixed systems consists of steel beams and reinforced concrete shear wall, which represents a cost- and time-effective type of construction. A number of previous studies have focused on examining the seismic response of steel coupling beams in a hybrid wall system. However, the shear transfer of steel coupling beam-wall connections with panel shear failure has not been thoroughly investigated. The objective of this research was to investigate the seismic performance of steel coupling beamwall connections governed by panel shear failure. To evaluate the contribution of each mechanism, depending upon connection details, an experimental study was carried out The test variables included the reinforcement details that confer a ductile behaviour on the steel coupling beam-wall connection, i.e., the face bearing plates and the horizontal ties in the panel region of steel coupling beam-wall connections. It investigates the seismic behaviour of the steel coupling beams-wall connections in terms of the deformation characteristics. The results and discussion presented in this paper provide background for a companion paper that includes a design model for calculating panel shear strength of the steel coupling beam-wall connections.
A rigorous modal transmission-line theory (MTLT) based on effective dielectric method (EDM) is introduced and developed to analyze the polarization beam-splitting of optical rib-type directional coupler with three guiding layers. Furthermore, to confirm the validity of approach proposed in this paper, we compare our results with those ones of BeamPROP, which is a commercial software package used widely. Consequently, the numerical results reveal that the hybrid modes incident into a guiding channel of rib-type coupler are split well through upper and lower guiding channels in a polarization length.
This paper describes an experimental investigation on hybrid fiber reinforced concrete (HYFRC) beams. And the main aim of this present paper is to examine the dynamic characteristics and damage evaluation of undamaged and damaged HYFRC beams under free-free constraints. In this experimental work, totally four RC beams were cast and analyzed in order to evaluate the dynamic behavior as well as static load behavior of HYFRCs. Hybrid fiber reinforced concrete beams have been cast by incorporating two different fibers such as steel and polypropylene (PP). Damage of HYFRC beams was obtained by cracking of concrete for one of the beams in each set under four-point bending tests with different percentage variation of damage levels as 50%, 70% and 90% of maximum ultimate load. And the main dynamic characteristics such as damping, fundamental natural frequencies, mode shapes and frequency response function at each and every damage level has been assessed by means of non-destructive technique (NDT) with hammer excitation. The fundamental natural frequency and damping values obtained through dynamic tests for HYFRC beams were compared with control (reference) RC beam at each level of damage which has been acquired through static tests. The static experimental test results emphasize that the HYFRC beam has attained higher ultimate load as compared with control reinforced concrete beam.
