This paper proposes an approach of Mult_HPSO based on the PC cluster system to reduce or remove the stagnation on an early convergence effect of PSO, reduce an execution time and improve a search ability on an optimal solution. Hybrid PSO(HPSO) is combines the PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) with the mutation of conventional GA(Genetic Algorithm). The conventional PSO has operated a search process in a single swarm. However, Multi_PSO operates a search process through multiple swarms, which increments diversity of expected solutions and reduces the execution time. Multiple Swarms are composed of unsynchronized PC clusters. We apply to SCED(security constrained economic dispatch) problem, a nonlinear optimization problem, which considers line flow constraints and N-1 line contingency constraints. To consider N-1 line contingency in power system, we have chosen critical line contingency through a process of Screening and Selection based on PI(performace Index). We have applied to IEEE 118 bus system for verifying a usefulness of the proposed approaches.
This paper investigates the potential of a hybrid model which combines the least squares support vector machine (LSSVM) and an improved particle swarm optimization (IMPSO) techniques for prediction of concrete compressive strength. A modified PSO algorithm is employed in determining the optimal values of LSSVM parameters to improve the forecasting accuracy. Experimental data on concrete compressive strength in the literature were used to validate and evaluate the performance of the proposed IMPSO-LSSVM model. Further, predictions from five models (the IMPSO-LSSVM, PSO-LSSVM, genetic algorithm (GA) based LSSVM, back propagation (BP) neural network, and a statistical model) were compared with the experimental data. The results show that the proposed IMPSO-LSSVM model is a feasible and efficient tool for predicting the concrete compressive strength with high accuracy.
A developed hybrid method for crack identification of beams is presented. Based on the Euler-Bernouli beam theory and concepts of fracture mechanics, governing equation of the cracked beams is reformulated. Finite element (FE) method as a powerful numerical tool is used to discritize the equation in space domain. After transferring the equations from time domain to frequency domain, frequencies and mode shapes of the beam are obtained. Efficiency of the governed equation for free vibration analysis of the beams is shown by comparing the results with those available in literature and via ANSYS software. The used equation yields to move the influence of cracks from the stiffness matrix to the mass matrix. For crack identification measured data are produced by applying random error to the calculated frequencies and mode shapes. An objective function is prepared as root mean square error between measured and calculated data. To minimize the function, hybrid genetic algorithms (GAs) and particle swarm optimization (PSO) technique is introduced. Efficiency, Robustness, applicability and usefulness of the mixed optimization numerical tool in conjunction with the finite element method for identification of cracks locations and depths are shown via solving different examples.
This paper describes a new stochastic heuristic algorithm in engineering problem optimization especially in power system applications. An improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) called adaptive particle swarm optimization (APSO), mixed with simulated annealing (SA), is introduced and referred to as APSO-SA. This algorithm uses a novel PSO algorithm (APSO) to increase the convergence rate and incorporate the ability of SA to avoid being trapped in a local optimum. The APSO-SA algorithm efficiency is verified using some benchmark functions. This paper presents the application of APSO-SA to find the optimal location, type and size of flexible AC transmission system devices. Two types of FACTS devices, the thyristor controlled series capacitor (TCSC) and the static VAR compensator (SVC), are considered. The main objectives of the presented method are increasing the voltage stability index and over load factor, decreasing the cost of investment and total real power losses in the power system. In this regard, two cases are considered: single-type devices (same type of FACTS devices) and multi-type devices (combination of TCSC, SVC). Using the proposed method, the locations, type and sizes of FACTS devices are obtained to reach the optimal objective function. The APSO-SA is used to solve the above non.linear programming optimization problem for better accuracy and fast convergence and its results are compared with results of conventional PSO. The presented method expands the search space, improves performance and accelerates to the speed convergence, in comparison with the conventional PSO algorithm. The optimization results are compared with the standard PSO method. This comparison confirms the efficiency and validity of the proposed method. The proposed approach is examined and tested on IEEE 14 bus systems by MATLAB software. Numerical results demonstrate that the APSO-SA is fast and has a much lower computational cost.

Presently, Online / Offline Users are facing cyber attacks every day. These cyber attacks affect user's performance, resources and various daily activities. Due to this critical situation, attention must be given to prevent such users through cyber attacks. The objective of this research paper is to improve the IDS systems by using machine learning approach to develop a hybrid model which controls the cyber attacks. This Hybrid model uses the available KDD 1999 intrusion detection dataset. In first step, Hybrid Model performs feature optimization by reducing the unimportant features of the dataset through decision tree, support vector machine, genetic algorithm, particle swarm optimization and principal component analysis techniques. In second step, Hybrid Model will find out the minimum number of features to point out accurate detection of cyber attacks. This hybrid model was developed by using machine learning algorithms like PSO, GA and ELM, which trained the system with available data to perform the predictions. The Hybrid Model had an accuracy of 99.94%, which states that it may be highly useful to prevent the users from cyber attacks.
Determining the properties of pile from cone penetration test (CPT) is costly, and need several in-situ tests. At the present study, two novel hybrid learning models, namely PSO-RF and HHO-RF, which are an amalgamation of random forest (RF) with particle swarm optimization (PSO) and Harris hawks optimization (HHO) were developed and applied to predict the pile set-up parameter "A" from CPT for the design aim of the projects. To forecast the "A," CPT data along were collected from different sites in Louisiana, where the selected variables as input were plasticity index (PI), undrained shear strength (Su), and over consolidation ratio (OCR). Results show that both PSO-RF and HHO-RF models have acceptable performance in predicting the set-up parameter "A," with R2 larger than 0.9094, representing the admissible correlation between observed and predicted values. HHO-RF has better proficiency than the PSO-RF model, with R2 and RMSE equal to 0.9328 and 0.0292 for the training phase and 0.9729 and 0.024 for testing data, respectively. Moreover, PI and OBJ indices are considered, in which the HHO-RF model has lower results which leads to outperforming this hybrid algorithm with respect to PSO-RF for predicting the pile set-up parameter "A," consequently being specified as the proposed model. Therefore, the results demonstrate the ability of the HHO algorithm in determining the optimal value of RF hyperparameters than PSO.
Passive dynamic walking exhibits humanoid and energy efficient gaits. However, optimal design of passive walker at multi-variable level is not well studied yet. This paper presents a Chaotic Particle Swarm Optimization (CPSO) algorithm and applies it to the optimal design of flexible passive walker. Hip torsional stiffness and damping were incorporated into flexible biped walker, to imitate passive elastic mechanisms utilized in human locomotion. Hybrid dynamics were developed to model passive walking, and period-one gait was gained. The parameters global searching scopes were gained after investigating the influences of structural parameters on passive gait. CPSO were utilized to optimize the flexible passive walker. To improve the performance of PSO, multi-scroll Jerk chaotic system was used to generate pseudorandom sequences, and chaotic disturbance would be triggered if the swarm is trapped into local optimum. The effectiveness of CPSO is verified by comparisons with standard PSO and two typical chaotic PSO methods. Numerical simulations show that better fitness value of optimal design could be gained by CPSO presented. The proposed CPSO would be useful to design biped robot prototype.

In this paper, the optimal fuzzy logic controller(FLC) for a hybrid renewable energy system(HRES) is proposed. Generally, hybrid renewable energy systems can consist of wind power, solar power, fuel cells and storage devices. The proposed FLC can effectively control the entire HRES by determining the output power of the fuel cell or the absorption power of the electrolyzer. In general, fuzzy logic controllers can be optimized by classical optimization algorithms such as genetic algorithms(GA) or particle swarm optimization(PSO). However, these FLC have a disadvantage in that their performance varies greatly depending on the control parameters of the optimization algorithms. Therefore, we propose a method to optimize the fuzzy logic controller using the teaching-learning based optimization(TLBO) algorithm which does not have the control parameters of the algorithm. The TLBO algorithm is an optimization algorithm that mimics the knowledge transfer mechanism in a class. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, we modeled the hybrid system using Matlab Tool and compare and analyze the performance with other classical optimization algorithms. The simulation results show that the proposed method shows better performance than the other methods.

Harmony search(HS) does not use the evaluation of individual harmony when referring to HM when constructing a new harmony, but particle swarm optimization(PSO), on the contrary, uses the evaluation value of individual particles and the evaluation value of the population to find a solution. However, in this study, we tried to improve the performance of the algorithm by finding and identifying similarities between HS and PSO and applying the particle improvement process of PSO to HS. To apply the PSO algorithm, the local best of individual particles and the global best of the swam are required. In this study, the process of HS improving the worst harmony in harmony memory(HM) was viewed as a process very similar to that of PSO. Therefore, the worst harmony of HM was regarded as the local best of a particle, and the best harmony was regarded as the global best of swam. In this way, the performance of the HS was improved by introducing the particle improvement process of the PSO into the HS harmony improvement process. The results of this study were confirmed by comparing examples of optimization values for various functions. As a result, it was found that the suggested HS-PSO was much better than the existing HS in terms of accuracy and consistency.
