  • As humanity embarks on its learning journey in the 21st century, education needs to take on new dimensions. This discourse focuses on the essentials of what educators could do to promote creative development in young gifted and talented students.Current practices in Singapore's Gifted Education Programme are shared. Future possibilities of educating the young gifted studentson their creative attributes like Piirto's 7 Is, brain functions, energy levels or intensities, volition, virtues and other personal and interpersonal skills will be explained. Gifted students are the captains of their own ships, the pilot of their own planes. Teaching them about their creative potential is the first step in awakening their consciousness from within. It is up to them to decide to become more creative with support from parents and teachers thereafter.

  • We aim to reinterpret Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer through theory of posthumanism. Posthuman is a compound word of 'post' and 'human', which means transcendent-man. However, we would like to extend the meaning of posthuman or cyborgs as not only to "new human figure, or transcendent-man" but as to "human living in a digital age of converged technology". Through the extension of the meaning of posthuman, we would be able to not only find posthuman in Science Fiction movies but also apply it to our real world. Also, through the extended meaning, we will reinterpret all the elements from the film as cyberspace and as posthuman or cyborgs. Moreover, through examination of these "cyborg figures" in Bong Joon-ho's Snowpiercer (2013), we argue that the film is criticizing posthumanism in the reality that these days, people are losing the humanity due to the combination with the machine. It seems that he claims of the collapse of the current system, suggesting new human generation as the solution.

  • The purpose of this paper is to find a method to combine engineering education and the humanities by means of the movie genre. Although the science technology has developed and our living standard has improved, humanities has a tendency to be underestimated. Humanities has been treated as something antiquated, uninteresting or worn-out because it has no economic value or usefulness in itself. Engineering students need flexible, analytic and critical thought as well as the qualities in constructing key questions and trying to solve themselves. Communicative and understanding abilities are also required to them. Movies as a constructive visual device show problems with the reality. Especially, the science-related movie genre offers them an opportunity to think over why humanities matters as well as what matters in human being. The movies make engineering students think, discuss and argue on the humanity.

  • The modernistic rationalism which thinks much of the mathematical rationality and economic efficiency is widely spread in Korea economic planning, urban planning, urban transportation planning, and the like. As a result the demands to humanity, amanity, and so on have been disregarded in the name of rationality in urban spatial organization, the typical examples, one of the pedestrian space. The pedestrian space which is passed over easily from the view point of the modernistic rationalism, is actually the space that should be reflected abundantly in urban space. The author emphasized a need of reconsideration on the position of pedestrian space in urban spatial planning process, and adopted the theoretical research on the functions and roles of pedestrian space. In consequence of this study the functions of pedestrian space are considered : the first, the function as a space for moving, the second, the function as a space for buffer. the third, the function as a space for intermediation. the fourth, the function as a space for urban daily life. the fifth, the function as new urban environment-making factor.

  • In the last decades, there has been much interest in climate variability because its change has dramatic effects on humanity. Especially, the precipitation data are measured over space and their spatial association is so complicated. So we should take into account such a spatial dependency structure while analyzing the data. However, in linear models for analyzing the data, data sets show severely skewed distribution. In the paper, we consider the Box-Cox transformation to satisfy the normal distribution prior to the analysis, and employ a Bayesian hierarchical framework to investigate the spatial patterns. The data set we considered is monthly average precipitation of the third quarter of 2007 obtained from 347 automated monitoring stations in Contiguous South Korea.

  • The quality of the environment, both natural and man-made, has unlimited influence on people's behavior and their physical and psychological well being. Interior designers shaped the indoor environment in which people live, work, perform day-to-day tasks and rest. Since designers affect a society's sensitivity and thinking, the aesthetics and ethics of the designs must respond to the most burning environmental issues of the contemporary world. This awareness is especially important now, at this critical time in the life of our planet, when humanity is facing twin catastrophes: natural resources depletion and environmental degradation. Under this concept, the purpose of this study is to configure what kind of design is ecologic and sustainable design and how we can develop ecological design as focusing on natural ventilation, natural lighting, uses of recycled materials, application of Indoor landscaping and architectural forms through several existing cases of the ecological office building.

  • A survey on the attitudes toward science and science courses was conducted with three hundred students of primary and secondary schools. The instrument used for measuring attitudes was TOSRA(Fraser, 1981). The subjects was sampled by stratified cluster sampling method. The major findings of this study are as follows. 1. The attitude scores has no significant differences among the students of large city, mid-sized city and rural areas. 2. The attitude scores of male and female students has ststistically significant difference. 3. Primary students has significantly higher attitude scores than secondary students. 4. In case of senior high schools, science-major students has significantly higher attitude scores than humanity-major students.

  • Learning objectives for human and society-centered basic medical education to improve physicians' ability to practice in a Korean context were developed by the Korean Association of Medical Colleges in 2015-2016. The task-force committee identified eight domains for medical practitioners: human illness, reflection and self-improvement, patient safety, communication and collaboration, medical ethics, legal issues, social accountability, and professionalism. A total of 172 enabling learning outcomes and 42 terminal learning outcomes were identified by the workshop. The workshop members were representatives from 41 medical schools, the Korean Medical Association, and a scientific group (medical ethics, legal issues, and medical communication). The curriculum for "medical humanity and social medicine" was first published in 2007. The human and society-centered learning objectives that were developed will be revised annually.

  • Spirituality is the dynamic and inherent dimension of humanity. This study aimsto evaluate the relationship between Spiritual Health, Mindfulness and Emotion Regulation among French Emerging Adults. An online cross-sectional survey design consisted of four hundred and twenty-one samples were recruited from different universities at Strasbourg, France. Participant's age ranged from 18 to 28 years with a mean age of 20.77 years (SD=2.22). The results, highlights that Spiritual Health Measure was significant and positive association with Mindfulness (r=.45, p < .01) and Reappraisal (r=.22, p < .01). Further, the significant negative correlation observed with Spiritual Dissonance (r=.44, p < .01) and Suppression (r=.24, p < .01). These findings support emerging literature on Spiritual Health. Future studies should evolve an intervention model to promote Spiritual Health and Positive Health.

  • Industrialization has given humanity many benefits, such as material abundance and conveniences. However, it has also caused detrimental side effects to the environment which are becoming a global problem. During the 1960's, the national economic scale in Korea was expanded and personal lifestyles rapidly improved. These improvements also caused environmental problems such as water contamination. Water contamination caused by old, worn water pipes, harmful materials and deposits from the water purification processes decreased the tap water quality, causing unpleasant odors and tastes. Due to poor maintenance of the reservoir facilities of tap water quality, citizens lost their faith in the water quality. In the long term, it made us worry about the health of our nation's citizens (6,16).
