A Kind of Digital Intelligent System for the Ink Hue Analysis

  • This paper introduces a kind of new ink hue analysis system (HAS) based on the model-distinguishing technology and briefly casts light on the principle of the analysis. Also, it stresses the hardware structure, the software designing methods and programming procedure of the HAS as well as its interface. And the simulation result of the experiment data was given. The study shows that this kind of system can help to improve the color arrangements and managements of ink. The accuracy has reached ${\pm}0.5%$ compared with high precision density meter.

  • Color segmentation takes great attentions since a color is an effective and robust visual cue for characterizing one object from other objects. Color segmentation is, however, suffered from color variation induced from irregular illumination changes. This paper proposes a reliable color modeling approach in HSI (Hue-Saturation-Intensity) rotor space considering intensity information by adopting B-spline curve fitting to make a mathematical model for statistical characteristics of a color with respect to brightness. It is based on the fact that color distribution of a single-colored object is not invariant with respect to brightness variations even in HS (Hue-Saturation) plane. The proposed approach is applied for the segmentation of human skin areas successfully under various illumination conditions.

  • This study has proposed a method of content-based image retrieval in order to overcome disadvantages of color histogram. The existing histogram method has a weak point that reduces accuracy because of quantization error, and more. In order to solve this, we convert color information to HSV and quantize Hue factor being net color information and calculate histogram and then use this for retrieval feature that is robust in brightness, movement, and rotation. As a result of experimenting, the method proposed has showed better precision than the existing method.

  • The main aim of this paper is to present some results related to asymptotic behavior of distribution functions of random variables of chi-square type $X^2_N={\Sigma}^N_{i=1}\;X^2_i$ with degrees of freedom N, where N is a positive integer-valued random variable independent on all standard normally distributed random variables $X_i$. Two ways for computing the distribution functions of chi-square type random variables with random degrees of freedom are considered. Moreover, some tables concerning considered distribution functions are demonstrated in Appendix.

  • This study was aimed to determine color sensibility factors for naturally dyed fabrics and to investigate their relationship with color variables such as hue and tone and dyes. Two hundreds different fabric colors prepared by a variety of natural dyeing were subjectively evaluated by color experts, which resulted in three color sensibility factors including 'Pleasant', 'Comfort', and 'Modem'. Among hues, Yellowish shade by natural dyeing was found as more pleasant and more comfort than any others. Among main tones for natural dyeing, g(grayish) and ltg(light grayish) were more felt in 'Comfort' whereas d(dull) more in 'Pleasant'. As for dyes, Gardenia Blue, Gardenia Yellow, and Anato tended to give feelings of 'Pleasant' whereas Raw Indigo and Loess did 'Comfort'.

  • Among various image fusion methods, intensity-hue-saturation(IHS) technique is capable of quickly merging the massive volumes of data. For IKONOS imagery, IHS can yield satisfactory 'spatial' enhancement but may introduce 'spectral' distortion, appearing as a change in colors between compositions of resampled and fused multispectral bands. To solve this problem a fast IHS fusion technique with spectral adjustment is presented. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach can provide better performance than the conventional IHS method, in both processing speed and image quality.

Throughput-based fair bandwidth allocation in OBS networks

  • Fair bandwidth allocation (FBA) has been studied in optical burst switching (OBS) networks, with the main idea being to map the max-min fairness in traditional IP networks to the fair-loss probability in OBS networks. This approach has proven to be fair in terms of the bandwidth allocation for differential connections, but the use of the ErlangB formula to calculate the theoretical loss probability has made this approach applicable only to Poisson flows. Furthermore, it is necessary to have a reasonable fairness measure to evaluate FBA models. This article proposes an approach involving throughput-based-FBA, called TFBA, and recommends a new fairness measure that is based on the ratio of the actual throughput to the allocated bandwidth. An analytical model for the performance of the output link with TFBA is also proposed.

  • In recent studies on tone reproduction with the objective of reproducing natural looking colors in digital images, an integrated multi-scale retinex (IMSR) has produced great naturalness in the resulting images. Most methods, including IMSR, work in RGB or quasi-RGB color spaces. As such, this produces hue distortion from the perspective of the human visual system. Accordingly, this paper proposes the hue preserved multi-scale Retinex (HPMSR) method to obtain a high contrast and naturalness. The proposed method enhanced the $L^*$ and saturation values in CIELAB color space. As a result, the visibility in dark shadows in the resulting images was improved.

Near-Optimal Algorithm for Group Scheduling in OBS Networks

  • Group scheduling is an operation whereby control packets arriving in a time slot schedule their bursts simultaneously. Normally, those bursts that are of the same wavelength are scheduled on the same channel. In cases where the support of full wavelength converters is available, such scheduling can be performed on multiple channels for those bursts that are of an arbitrary wavelength. This paper presents a new algorithm for group scheduling on multiple channels. In our approach, to reach a near-optimal schedule, a maximum-weight clique needs to be determined; thus, we propose an additional algorithm for this purpose. Analysis and simulation results indicate that an optimal schedule is almost attainable, while the complexity of computation and that of implementation are reduced.

  • This research designed usable standard color chart which was planned by hue and tone color system. This research studied 5 types standard color chart by designed tone map and preceding research. "Basic Color Chart 14 Colors" was planned for kindergarteners. "Primary Color Chart 63 Colors" was planned for schoolboys. "Middle Grade Color Chart 114 Colors" was planned for junior high school students. "High Grade Color Chart 152 Colors" was planned for senior high school students. "Hue and Tone 205 Colors" was planned for university students and general publics. These 5 types standard color chart were produced the trial color coordinate card and attached the Munsell notation which could reappear the spare color paper when needed. These 5 types standard color chart would be offered the data base for efficient color coordinate education as school age.
