In this paper, we propose a new vision-based defect inspection system for the surface of hot slabs. To minimize the influence of self-emission from slab surfaces with high temperature, an optic method based on blue LED light and a blue pass filter is proposed. Because the slab surface is partially covered with scales, which are unavoidable oxidized substances caused during manufacturing, it is difficult to distinguish between vertical cracks and scale. In order to resolve this problem and to improve the detection performance, the use of a Gabor filter and dynamic programming are proposed. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed method is shown by means of experiments conducted on images of hot slabs that were obtained from an actual slab production line.

Although the application period of hot weather concrete in our country is two months of July~August which is relatively short, many problems in various aspects such as generation of plastic/dry contraction cracks and cold joints can be caused unless proper quality control measures are established at this time. Therefore, this study compared the temperature history of the placed concrete by applying a mono white and aluminum-deposited bubble sheet developed with surface coating curing materials for surface exposure and summer to an actually constructed apartment slab. The analysis result showed that the mono white bubble sheet is the best method.

Many problems in various aspects such as generation of plastic/dry contraction cracks and cold joints can be caused unless proper quality control measures are established in hot weather circumstances. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the crack patterns of concrete by applying a change in 3 surface curing methods such as a mono aluminum-deposited bubble sheet developed to reduce the temperature and cracks through reflection of heat in summer and a PE film and a surface exposure used generally to an actually constructed apartment slab. The study result confirmed that the best concrete crack reduction effect can be obtained with a mono aluminum-deposited bubble sheet.

In this paper, three-dimensional multiblade row unsteady Navier-Stokes simulations at a hot streak temperature ratio of 2.0 have been performed to reveal the effects of rotor tip clearance on the inlet hot streak migration characteristics in low pressure stage of a Vaneless Counter-Rotating Turbine. The hot streak is circular in shape with a diameter equal to 25% of the high pressure turbine stator span. The hot streak center is located at 50% of the span and the leading edge of the high pressure turbine stator. The tip clearance size studied in this paper is 2.0mm(2.59% high pressure turbine rotor height, and 2.09% low pressure turbine rotor height). The numerical results show that the hot streak is not mixed out by the time it reaches the exit of high pressure turbine rotor. The separation of colder and hotter fluid is observed at the inlet of low pressure turbine rotor. Most of hotter fluid migrates towards the rotor pressure surface, and only little hotter fluid migrates to the rotor suction surface when it convects into the low pressure turbine rotor. And the hotter fluid migrated to the tip region of the high pressure turbine rotor impinges on the leading edge of the low pressure turbine rotor after it goes through the high pressure turbine rotor. The migration of the hotter fluid directly results in very high heat load at the leading edge of the low pressure turbine rotor. The migration characteristics of the hot streak in the low pressure turbine rotor are dominated by the combined effects of secondary flow and leakage flow at the tip clearance. The leakage flow trends to drive the hotter fluid towards the blade tip on the pressure surface and to the hub on the suction surface, even partial hotter fluid near the pressure surface is also driven to the rotor suction surface through the tip clearance. Compared with the case without rotor tip clearance, the heat load of the low pressure turbine rotor is intensified due to the effects of the leakage flow. And the numerical results also indicate that the leakage flow effect trends to increase the low pressure turbine rotor outlet temperature at the tip region.

For the fabrication of nano patterned products manufacturing a nano patterned mold is needed in advance. The nano patterned stamper was fabricated by electroforming the AAO master with nickel. The surface of nickel-plated stamper had nano-patterned holes with the diameter of 73 nm and the depth of 83 nm. Hot embossing was used for forming P3HT sheet and the process factors of hot embossing were closer as pressure, temperature and time. In the present paper hot embossing experiments were performed to find the main process conditions to affect the replication ratio of nano patterns on surface of P3HT sheet. As a result, main contributing factors for the replication ratio of hot embossed pattern could be sequentially enumerated as pressure, temperature and time.
Quenchable boron steel is a new type of high strength steel to reduce the weight of automobiles and maintain the safety conditions. Quenchable blanks can be hot-stamped and hardened in a water-cooled tool to achieve high strength. In this paper, new alloy for hot stamping is designed based on requirement of mechanical properties and two types of surface coating are investigated in viewpoints of oxidization and exfoliation. An automotive part of center pillar is manufactured by hot-stamping using Al-Si coated sheet. The performance of developed part is compared by static compression test and side impact crash test.

For the purpose of improving the hot corrosion resistance of Ni-base superalloy, Inconel 600, aluminide and chromium-aluminide coatings by pack cementation process were studied. The morphology of these coatings is dependent on the type of process employed. And their overall composition depends on the composition of the base alloy and on the nature of the cement. Therefore the different aluminide and chromium-aluminide coatings obtained on a superalloy do not possess the same resistance to oxidation and hot corrosion. The mechanisms governing the formation of the coatings and the composition of the coating were varied by pack composition and temperature, and cyclic hot corrosion resistance of the auluminide coating formed by one-step process was inferior to that of the coating formed by two-step process. and Cr-Al composite coating showed good resistance for cyclic hot corrosion.

This study investigates the temperature history of slab mock-up specimens for hot weather concreting applying various surface insulating methods, in order to improve concrete quality at hot weather condition. Test showed that the use of insulating blanket or a bubble sheet on upper section of slab prevented from abrupt increase of temperature and vaporization of moisture during early curing at hot weather circumstance. In addition, it secured higher strength at early age. Therefore it is concluded that concrete construction insulating with the bubble sheet will reduce the plastic and drying shrinkage as well as improve strength at early age, thus securing concrete duality.

The drying is a process that involves coupled and simultaneous heat and mass transfer. When a wet solid is subjected to thermal drying, two processes occur simultaneously. Drying is classified according to heat transfer characteristics in terms of conduction, convection and radiation. In thermal drying, radiation is easier to control than conduction and convection drying and involves a relatively simple structure. In this study, we measured energy consumption, surface hardness of paint and surface gloss with variation of surface temperature of drying materials and drying time. Drying characteristics and energy consumption between heating panels and hot air heating have been presented. The present study shows that a dryer using heating panels is more effective than a hot air dryer from the viewpoint of energy conservation. The hot air dryer, however, was not optimized and more studies on various parameters related to drying will need to be investigated for definite comparison of drying characteristics of the dryers. The result, even if limited, would present the effective availability of paint drying.
The microstructural changes of Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy containing Sc during hot extrusion and post heat treatment were investigated. Two kinds of Al-Sc alloys with different alloying elements (B1, B2) were hot extruded to make T-shape bars at extrusion temperature of $380^{\circ}C$, then the bars were solution treated at $480^{\circ}C$ for 2hrs followed by artificial aging at $120^{\circ}C$ for 24hrs. The interior microstructure of as extruded bar consisted of elongated grains, however, fine equiaxed grains were also observed around surface. The microstructural gradient suggested that different restoration process could proceed during the hot extrusion. For B1 and B2, different grain growth behaviors were found around the surface during the post heat treatment. Rapid grain growth behavior was observed for B1 around the surface, however, it was not observed for B2. Orientation pinning, which was related with the evolution of preferred orientation, and precipitation were thought to be responsible for the rapid grain growth.
