세레이션형 미세 멀티셀 튜브 압출 및 접합강도 평가 (FE analysis of Extrusion Process and Estimation of welding strength for Micro Multi Cell Tube with Serration)

  • This paper describes a development of the extrusion process and estimation of the weldability for multi cell tubes used to cooling system of automobiles. A study on extrusion process is performed through the 3D FE simulation in non-steady state and extrusion experimentation. Also, nano-indentation test is employed to estimate the weldability of tubes. Especially, An evaluation of the weldability using the nano-indentation is accomplished as compared with nano-hardness in welded part and in the others. Finally, the pattern of the mandrel defection is investigated according to shapes of the porthole and/or chamber.

  • A comprehensive methodology to consolidate the hypereutectic Al-27Si-X alloy via spray forming was investigated in an attempt to judge the feasiblilty of this alloy in applying wear resistant components. Billets having desired shape and microstructures were fabricated using forming parameters obtained from numerical calculations. Prior to tube extrusion of the spray formed billets, effects of various extrusion conditions, such as extrusion ratio, die temperature, and die configuration, on microstructures of the billet were studied. Based on results obtained from the preliminary extrusion tests, the formed billets were then hot extruded into a tubular shape. Various material properties of the extruded billet were measured and compared with the other candidate materials for anti-wear applications.

더블-액션 압출공정을 적용한 전동조향장치용 토션조인트 요크 개발 (Development of a Torsion Joint Yoke for Motor-Driven Power Steering System Using a Double-Action Extrusion Process)

  • The yoke, a component of conventional motor-driven power steering system, often contains welding defects from its manufacturing process. To eliminate these defects, the precision cold forging process has been tried. In this study, the double-action complex forging has been used to manufacture a torsion joint yoke. The backward extrusion proved faster than the forward extrusion in forging of the product. The double-action complex forging process utilized an upper die composed of a punch, a punch guide, a disc spring and a coil spring. The forged material pushes up the punch guide, and then the disc spring and the coil spring balances the backward extrusion force. Consequently, the flow of material was essentially in the forward direction, resulting in a successful forging operation. The forging load of Al 6061-T6 was higher than that of the automotive structural hot rolled plate.

  • A metal matrix composites(MMCs) for A16061 reinforced with silicon carbide particles is fabricated by melt-stirring method. The primary products of MMCs billets are prepared by volume fractions 5 vol% to 20 vol% and particle size $13\mu m$ to $22\mu m$.This paper will be made to examine the microstructure and mechanical properties of fabricated $SiC_p$/Al 6061 composite by melt-stirring and squeeze casting method. The MMC billets is extruded at $500^{\circ}C$ under the constant extrusion velocity $V_e$=2mm/min using curved shape die. Extrusion force, particle rearrangement, micro structure and mechanical properties of extruded composites will be investigated. The mechanical properties of primary billets manufactured by melt-stirring and squeeze casting method will be compared with extrusion specimen. The effect of volume fraction and size of the reinforcements will be studied. The increase in uniformity of particle dispersion is the major reason for an improvement in reliability due to hot extrusion with optimal shape die. Experimental Young's modulus and 0.2% offset yield strength for the extruded MMCs will be compared with theretical values calculated by the Eshelby method. A method will be proposed for the prediction of Young's modulus and yield strength in $SiC_p$ reinforced MMCs.

분무성형법에 의한 Al 합금(AA2014) 대형봉상성형체 제조시 기공발생에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Creation of Porosity in Al Alloy(AA2014) Large Rod Preforms by Spray Forming)

  • In order to manufacture large rod preforms of 2014 Al alloy with a good mechanical property by spray forming method, it was spray-formed at a droplet temperature of $715^{\circ}C$, a droplet flight distance of 400mm, and a spraying angle of $35^{\circ}$. The rod preforms were extruded at $397^{\circ}C$ with the die temperature of $420^{\circ}C$ under the hot extrusion ratio 21:1 and T6 heat treatment was performed. The 2014 Al alloys cast by hot top process were also extruded and heat-treated at the same condition as a reference material. Microstructural observation and tensile test were carried out to investigate the effects of extrusion on microstructure and mechanical property of spray-formed Al alloy. Spray-formed Al alloys had many porosities due to inappropriate process conditions such as long droplet flight distance and low droplet temperature but have fine equiaxed grain. These porosities were reduced with decreasing in grain size by hot extrusion. Ultimate tensile strength and yield strength of spray formed-extruded 2014 Al alloy were inferior to those of the normal cast-extruded 2014 Al alloy, but elongations were superior. The control of porosity was important to get spray formed preform with a good mechanical property.

  • 핫 러너를 이용한 사출 공정에서는, 색교체가 중요한 문제이다. 이 연구는 열가소성 수지의 색교체 특성을 평가할 수 있는 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 캐필러리 다이를 이용하여 색교체도를 평가할 수 있는 방법을 고안하고 구현한다. 캐필러리 다이로부터의 토출물을 영상화하여, 회색음영으로 정량화하였다. 그 음영도를 기반으로 하여, 색교체도를 결정하였다. 주어진 온도와 토출 속도에서, 색교체도가 토출회수에 따라 변화하는 추이를 얻어 내고 분석하였다.

"ㄱ" 단면 형상 제품의 압출굽힘 가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Extru-Bending Process of the Product with "ㄱ" Section)

  • The bending process for the "ㄱ" section product can be developed by the hot metal extrusion machine with the two punches moving in the different velocity. The bending phenomenon can be controlled by difference of velocity at the die exit section by the different velocity of billets through the two-hole container. The results of the experiment show that "ㄱ" section product can be bended by the extrusion process and that the curvature of the product can be controlled by the velocity of punch and that the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the product and the folding and wrinkling of the product did not happen after the bending processing by the extrusion bending machine.

  • Micro parts are usually used of producing by micro-electro-mechanical systems(MEMS). In this paper, we present some fundamental results concerning on the MEMS, extrusion condition on the micro forming characteristics and new micro forward extrusion machine has been developed. In the first step, we manufactured micro dies in two kinds of sections. One is a circle section, another is a cross section. The process for fabricating micro dies combines a deep UV-lithography, anisotropic etching techniques and metal electroplating with bulk silicon based on Ni with a thickness of $50{\mu}m$. The outer diameter of Ni-micro dies is 3mm and the diameter of extrusion section is $270{\mu}m$ for a cross section, $500{\mu}m$ for a circle section. The low linear density polyethylene(LLEPD) in the shape of a pellet has been used of micro extrusion. The billet was placed in a container manufactured by electric discharge machining and extruded through the micro die by a piezoelectric actuator. The micro extrusion has succeeded in a forming such micro parts as micro bars, micro cross shafts.

두 개의 압출빌렛을 사용하는 'Λ' 단면 앵글 구조재의 압출굽힘가공에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Extru-Bending Process of the Angle Product with 'Λ' Section Using Two Extrusion Billets)

  • In the present study about extru-bending of angle product, the bending of extruded angle products with the $'\Lambda'$ section and 'ㄱ', section can be obtained using two extrusion billets by the hot metal extru-bending machine with the two punches moving in the different velocity. The bending curvature can be controlled by the different velocity of billets through the two-hole container. This paper describes simulations and experiments of extru-bending process that can make bending during extruding by the difference of stem velocities. And they are applied to two kinds of dies, that is, one of them is conical dies with symmetry $'\Lambda'$ section and the other one is conical dies with asymmetry 'ㄱ' section. The results of the forming simulation by $DEFORM^{TM}-3D$ and results of experiments show that the bending phenomenon at the die exit during extrusion can be obtained with two extrusion billet by the two stems moving in the different velocity. And it was known that it is possible to design the structure of conical cavity of extrusion dies and to control the curvature of product through the simulation and experiment of extru-bending process.

알루미늄 중공 곡관제품의 열간 압출굽힘가공 (Hot Metal Extru-Bending Process for the Aluminum Curved Tube Product)

  • The bending phenomenon has been known to be occurred by the different of velocity at the die exit. The difference of velocity at the die exit section can be obtained by the different velocity of billets through the multi-hole container and by the cohesion of billet inside the porthole die chamber. The bending phenomenon can be controlled by the different hole diameter. The experiments using aluminium material for the curved tube product had been done. The results of the experiment show that the curved tube product can be formed by the extru-bending process without the defects such as the distortion of section and the thickness change of the wall of tube and the folding and wrinkling. It is known that the welding and extruding of each billet has done simultaneously although the curved tube is extruded with four billets.
