  • This paper presents the experimental result to investigate the characteristics of turbulent wake generated by submarine. A SUBOFF nude model which was assumed as an axial -symmetric body was used to create wake, and a thin strut was mounted on the top of the model. The experiments were conducted in a circulating water channel(CWC), and a hot-film was used to measure the turbulence in wake cross-section at the distance range of 0.0~2.0L from the model. The hot film anemometer measured turbulent velocity fluctuations, and the timeaveraged mean velocity and turbulent intensity are obtained from the acquired time-series data. Measured results show well the general characteristics of turbulent intensity, kinetic energy and mean velocity distribution. Also, experimental equations are derived. These experimental equations show well the general characteristics of the turbulent wake behind the submerged body with simple configuration.

A self-propelled SUBOFF model which was assumed as an axial-symmetric body was used to create wake, and a thin strut was mounted on the topside of the model. The experiments were conducted in a circulating water channel(CWC), and the hot-film was used to measure the turbulence in wake cross-section at the distance range of 0.0~2.0L from the model. The hot film anemometer measured turbulent velocity fluctuations, and the time-averaged mean velocity and turbulent intensity are obtained from the acquired time-series data. Measured results show well the general characteristics of turbulent intensity, kinetic energy and mean velocity distribution. Also, this paper presents derived experimental equations, which is extended result to the reference [1]. These experimental equations show well the general characteristics of the turbulent wake behind the self-propelled submerged body.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate various machining characteristics of AlN-hBN machinable ceramics in micro end-milling process for its further application. First, AlN based machinable ceramics with hBN contents in the range of 10 to 20vol% were prepared by hot-pressing. Material properties of the composites, such as relative density, Vickers hardness, flexural strength, Young's modulus and fracture toughness were measured and compared. Then, micro end-milling experiments were performed to fabricate micro channels using prepared system. During the process, cutting forces, vibrations and AE signals were measured and analyzed using applied sensor system. Machined micro channel shapes and surface roughness were measured using 3D non-contact type surface profiler. From the experimental results, it can be observed that the cutting forces, vibrations and AE signal amplitudes decreased with increasing hBN contents. Also, measured surface roughness and profiles were improved with increasing hBN contents. As a result of this study, optimum machining conditions can be determined to fabricate desired products with AlN-hBN machinable ceramics based on the experimental results of this research.

  • In this paper, we investigated the dependence of HCI (Hot Carrier Immunity) degradation and device performance on channel orientation in sub-micron PMOSFET. Although device performance ($I_{D.sat}$ vs. $I_{Off}$) was improved as the transistor angle increased HC immunity was degraded. Therefore, consideration of reliability characteristics as well as dc device performance is highly necessary in channel stress engineering of next generation CMOSFETs.

  • A problem of a unsteady time-dependent flow in a channel is of practical importance and widely considered in the design of devices such as heat exchangers, duct, and electronic equipments. The characteristics of fluid flow in channel with oscillating vortex generator was investigated experimentally. The main object of this study was to investigate the effect of the excited frequency, the excited amplitude, and Reynolds numbers on the generated frequency. Flow patterns were visualized using smoke generator and generated frequencies were measured using hot wire anemometer. When the excited frequency is increased, excited amplitude decreased and Reynolds number increased, the strength of PSD of generated frequency is decreased.

  • This study focuses on part quality and cycle times under gas-assisted injection molding(GIM) of housing molded parts. The position of the gas channel was estabished near to parting line at the end of last locations to fill. Applied hot runner and valve gates the gas was introduced directly into the mold cavity via gas pin. As GIM was applied the introduced directly into the mold cavity via gas pin. As GIM was applied the conclusion reached as follows. I) The quality of appearance was improved by reducing sink marks and scratches of texture ii) The realibility was improved by preventing warpages and reinforcing rigidity through optimum gas channel layout iii)It is enable to use small size of injection molding machine step by step as GIM was accomplished low pressure and reduced clamp forces against CIM iv)The productivity were improved by reducing cycle times.

  • A series of numerical simulation has been carried out to study thermo-hydraulic characteristics of a primary surface type heat exchanger, which is designed for the evaporator and condenser of a geothermal ORC. Working fluid is geothermal water at hot side and R-245fa, which is a refrigerant designed for ORC, at cold side. Aspect ratio of the channel and Reynolds number are considered as design parameters. Nusselt number is presented for the Reynolds number ranging from 50 to 150 and compared to existing correlations. The result shows that higher aspect ratio channel gives better heat transfer performance within the range of investigation.

  • In this paper, the effects of negative and positive bias stress on p-channel poly-Si TFT's fabricated by excimer laser annealing have been investigated After positive and negative bias stress, transcon-ductance(g$_{m}$) is increased because of a reduction of the effective channel length due to the injected electron in the gate oxide. In the positive bias stress, the injection of hole is appeared after stress time of 3600sec and g$_{m}$ is decreased. On the other hand, the gate voltage at the maximum g$_{m}$, S-swing and threshold voltage(V$_{th}$) are decreased because of the interface state generation due to the injection of electrons into the gate oxide.e.ide.e.

  • In vertically overlaid cellular systems, a temporary traffic concentration can occur in a hot-spot area, and this adversely affects overall system capacity. In this paper, we develop an adaptive hot-spot operating scheme (AHOS) to mitigate the negative effects from the nonuniform distribution of user location and the variation in the mixture of QoS requirements in orthogonal frequency division multiple access downlink systems. Here, the base station in a macrocell can control the operation of picocells within the cell, and turns them on or off according to the system overload estimation function. In order to determine whether the set of picocells is turned on or off, we define an AHOS gain index that describes the number of subcarriers saved to the macrocell by turning a specific picocell on. For initiating the picocell OFF procedure, we utilize the changes in traffic concentration and co-channel interference to the neighboring cells. According to computer simulation, the AHOS has been proved to have maximize system throughput while maintaining a very low QoS outage probability under various system scenarios in both a single-cell and multi-cell environments.
