Cyclic Host Having Double Bonds as Bridging Units

  • Terphenyl dialdehyde 6 was obtained in 17.4% overall yield through oxidative coupling, methylation, and bisformylation reactions starting from p-cresol, and then coupled intermolecularly using McMurry reaction to give 22-membered macrocylic host 7 in 14.4% yield. In crystal structure host 7 has $C2_v$ symmetry with cis-cis configuration of two double bonds. Four methoxy groups adjacent to double bonds and the other two methoxy groups are directed opposite side, forming a cavity which can nest a guest. The cavity is filled by two inward-turned methyl groups out of four methoxy groups adjacent to double bonds. The kinetically controlled reaction mechanism leading to cis product was proposed. The cation binding properties of 7 were obtained using picrate extraction experiment from $D_2O\; into\; CDCl_3\; at\; 25^{\circ}C$. All the spherical cations (from $Li^+ to NH4^+)$ are complexed with free energies of $7.3{\pm}0.3$ kcal/mol.

도핑된 발광층을 갖는 다층 유기발광다이오드 소자의 전기적 특성 해석 (Simulations of Electrical Characteristics of Multi-layer Organic Light Emitting Diode Devices with doped Emitting Layer)

  • 발광층에 도펀트가 도핑된 다층 유기발광다이오드 소자 구조에서의 발광 메카니즘을 검증하기 위해 전기적인 특성요인들을 수치해석 하였다. 본 논문에 적용한 유기발광다이오드 소자는 ITO/NPB/$Alq_3$:C545T(%)/$Alq_3$/LiF/Al으로 이루어져 있으며 도펀트인 C545T의 도핑 농도를 변화시킨 4종류의 소자 구조에 대해 특성 변화를 검토하였다. 그 결과 도펀트의 도핑 농도 변화에 따라서 전압-전류 특성이 변화되어짐을 확인하였고, 이는 참고 문헌에 제시되어 있는 전압-전류밀도 실험 데이터와 매우 잘 일치되었다. 또한 도펀트를 도핑시킨 소자 구조들에서 전압-휘도 특성이 대폭 향상되어 발광효율이 3배정도 향상되었다. 이와 같은 guest-host system이 적용된 유기발광다이오드 소자의 동작 메카니즘을 분석하기 위하여 소자 내부에서의 전계분포, 전하분포, 재결합율 등의 전기적인 항목들에 대한 특성의 변화를 관찰하였다.

Highly Efficient Phosphorescent White Organic Light-Emitting Devices with a Poly(N-vinylcarbazole) Host Layer

  • We have fabricated phosphorescent white organic light-emitting devices (WOLEDs) with a spin-coated poly(Nvinylcarbazole) [PVK] host layer. Iridium(III) bis[(4,6-difluorophenyl)-pyridinato-N,$C^{2'}$]picolinate (FIrpic), tris(2-phenylpyridine)iridium(III) [$Ir(ppy)_3$], and tris(2-phenyl-1-quinoline)iridium(III) [$Ir(phq)_3$], were used as the blue, green, and red guest materials, respectively. The PVK was mixed with FIrpic, $Ir(ppy)_3$, and $Ir(phq)_3$ molecules in a chlorobenzene solution and spin-coated in order to prepare the emission layer; 3-(4-biphenylyl)-4-phenyl-5-(4-tertbutylphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole (TAZ) was used as an electron transport material. The resultant device structure was ITO/PVK:FIrpic:$Ir(ppy)_3:Ir(phq)_3$/TAZ/LiF/Al. The electroluminescence, efficiency, and electrical conduction characteristics of the WOLEDs based on the doped PVK host layer were investigated. The maximum current efficiency of the three wavelength WOLED with the doped PVK host was 19.2 cd/A.

  • The structural specificity and the chemical dynamics between ${\beta}-cyclodextrin$ and aspirin were studied by FT-IR UN, $^1H$ NMR. $^{13}C NMR$. and FAB-MS spectroscopy in solution and solid state, A stable solid inclusion complex was prepared by the recrystallization method, From the spectral changes of the host and guest molecules, orientational preference for binding in the cyclodextrin cavity was determined.

  • Nine new solubility-increased container hosts having eight undecyl substituents were synthesized and characterized. 1H NMR spectral data showed integral inclusion state of carceplexes and their stability. 1H NMR chemical shifts of guest DMA were correlated to the host's cavity dimensions shrinked by constrictive binding. Carceplex and hemicarcerand showed their distinctive FD mass spectra.

  • A series of novel water-soluble paracyclophanes containing two diphenyl ether skeletons and two bridging aliphatic chains of various length were designed and prepared to develop artificial host compounds which might provide efficient hydrophobic field. They were 1,5,19,23-tetraaza-12,30-dioxa[5,1.5.1] paracyclophane (6), 1,6,20,25-tetraaza-13,32-dioxa[6.1.6.1]paracyclophane (7), 1,7,21,27-tetraaza-14,34-dioxa[7.1.7.1]paracyclophane (8) and 1,8,22,29-tetraaza-15,36-dioxa[8.1.8.1]paracyclophane (9). As the corresponding acyclic analogue, 4,4'-dimethylaminodiphenyl ether (11) was synthesized for the comparative study of further host-guest interaction.

  • In this study, the bis(8-oxyquinolino)zinc II (Znq$_2$) were synthesized successfully from zinc chloride (ZnC1$_2$) as a initial material. Then, we fabricated red organic electroluminescent device with a dye (DCJTB)-doped and inserted Znq$_2$ between emission layer and cathode layer for increasing EL efficiency. The hole transfer layer is a N,N'-diphenyl-N,N'-bis-(3-methyl phenyl) -1,1'-diphenyl-4,4'- diamine(TPD), and the host material of emission layer is Znq$_2$. And we study the electrical and optical properties of devices. We found that the device using Znq$_2$ inserting layer result in the increased efficiency.
