Development of a Hardware-In-Loop (HIL) Simulator for Spacecraft Attitude Control Using Momentum Wheels

  • In this paper, a Hardware-In-the-Loop simulator to simulate attitude control of space craft using momentum wheels is developed. The simulator consists of a spherical air bearing system allowing rotation and tilt in all three axes, three momentum wheels for actuation, and an AHRS (Attitude Heading Reference System). The simulator processes various types of data in PC104 and wirelessly communicates with a host PC using TCP/IP protocol. A simple low-cost momentum wheel assembly set and its drive electronics are also developed. Several experiments are performed to test the performance of the momentum wheels. For the control performance test of the simulator, a PID controller is implemented. The results of experimental demonstrations confirm the feasibility and validity of the Hardware-In-the-Loop simulator developed in the current study.

  • This paper suggests the system which monitors and diagnoses the distribution transformers. Moreover, this paper has established the system for the multi diagnoses by all the informations. Through the proven oil sensor, the oil temperature, capacitance and $tan{\delta}$ could be measured throughly, and followed by these informations, detected problems of the distribution transformers, using wireless data communication, could directly reported to the main host. For this, the proposed system is divided into sensor part and controller part. To prove the usefulness of the system, the paper compared and analyzed the system with the existing one, and after studying the correlation of the both, the result proved its goodness.

  • This Paper presents the design of an automated EEG analyzing system. The design considerations including processing speed, A/D conversion, filtering, and waveforms detection, are overviewed with the description of the associated EEG charateristics. The architecture of the currently implemented system consists of a -controller based front-end signal processing unit and a host computer system. The data acquisition procedures are described along with a couple of illustrations of the acquired EEG/EOG signal.

  • Contents 1We developed a new type of lower part of the human-sized BWR (biped walking robot) driven by a new actuator based on the ball screw which has high strength and high gear ratio. Each leg of the robot is composed of three pitch Joints and one roll joint. In all, a 8 degree-of-freedom robot was developed. A new type of actuator for the robot is proposed, which is composed of four bar link mechanism driven by the ball screw.   • In this paper, development of an omni-directional mobile robot with rocker-bogie link structure is addressed. The overall mobile robot system consists of the robot mechanism with embedded control architecture, wireless communication with host graphic monitoring system, and the joy stick tole-controller. In the cluttered environment with various sizes of obstacles, the omni-directionality and the traversality are required for a mobile robot, so that the robot call go around or climb over the obstacles according to the size. The mobile robot mechanism developed in this paper has both of the omni-directionality and the traversality by 4 steerable driving wheels and the 2 additional passive omni-directional wheels linked with the rocker-bogie structure. The kinematic modeling for the mobile robot is described based on the well-known Sheth-Uicker convention and the instantaneous coordinate system.

  • Analog PID controllers have been designed to make good use of position control in industries. Recently, the importance of digital position control is emphasized for the requirements of controller which are not only to control the objects but to include various aspects such as easiness of design and implementation, simple exchange of control program and convenient communications of data between various controllers and a host computer. This study proposes a combined control method which is mixed the vaiable structure control (VSC) with the PI control for minimum time position control of DC servo motor by microcomputer. The results of test by this method show offset-free and minimum time optimal position control which is not affected by the disturbance and the system parameter variations. The validity of the proposed method comparing with the conventional PID control is proved by the response experiments.

  • In this paper we implement moving picture transfer system using bluetooth Development Kit (DK). To reduce the size of the image data, we use M-JPEG compression. We use bluetooth Synchronous Connection-Oriented (SCO) link to transfer voice data. Server receive image data from camera and compress the image data in M-JPEG format, and then transmit the image data to client using bluetooth Asynchronous connection-less (ACL) link. Client receive image data from bluetooth ACL link and decode the compressed image and then display the image to screen. Sever and Client can transmit and receive voice data simultaneously using bluetooth SCO link. In this paper bluetooth HCI commands and events generated by host controller to return the results of HCI commands are explained and the flow of bluetooth connection procedure is presented.

  • This paper deals with a vibration control analysis of a rotating composite blade, modeled as a tapered thinwalled beam induced by heat flux. The displayed results reveal that the thermally induced vibration yields a detrimental repercussions upon their dynamic responses. The blade consists of host graphite epoxy laminate with surface and spanwise distributed transversely isotropic (PZT-4) sensors and actuators. The controller is implemented via the negative velocity and displacement feedback control methodology, which prove to overcome the deleterious effect associated with the thermally induced vibration. The structure is modeled as a composite thin-walled beam incorporating a number of nonclassical features such as transverse shear, secondary warping, anisotropy of constituent materials, and rotary inertias.

  • The number of automobiles is rapidly increasing , as are the importance of the car as a way of transportation, and the variety of its uses. In these surroundings, a safety, one of the primary factors which must be considered in automotive engineering, demands a system that aids the driver's vision and perception. In this point of view, development of the more promoted system that complement the existing passive method which relies on just man's ability is the important issue of the advanced traffic system including ITS. In this paper, we provide an algorithm and implementation of a control system that warns the collisions ahead and avoids this situation, using informations about the host-car, target-car and surroundings. The warning is made by an algorithm that decides the degree of safely. With this degree of safely, the controller automatically controls a vehicle's speed to a proper level.

  • In this study, as a part developing an unmanned container terminal (UCT), Ive designed and implemented an Autonomous Ground Vehicle (AGV) that can deliver containers in the port fast and safely as they are scheduled. It is preferable to research the intelligent UCT/AGV for delivering containers all day long without causing any trouble. For the sake of safe and fast AGV driving, we implemented a multiple-sensor system with vision, ultrasonic, and IR sensors and we adapted the hight-speed wireless LAN that satisfies the IEEE 802.11 Standard for hi-directional communication between the main processor in AGV and a host computer. The Pentium-III processor board mounted on the bottom frame in AGV combines and computes the information from sensors and controls the AGV driving. There are also the 80C196KC micro-controllers to control the actuating and steering motors. In addition, a steering function that is defined newly in this paper is heavily concerned in the mechanical design, and it plays an important role when AGV moves along a curve. Experimental results show the fast and safe delivery operations are possible with this UCT/AGV
