For the test of the operating characteristics as a moor, a 20 kVA super conducting synchronous machine with rotating field windings has been made in Saga university, Japan from 1991. Before the load tests of it as a motor, we carried out cooling down tests and measured its machine constants. During the cooling down tests, we found that the rotor itself had no cryogenic problem, but the inlet part for liquid He had one. Though enough liquid He couldn't be accumulated inside the rotor because of this problem, we drove field currents up to 20 A and could acquire the machine constants and V curves of the super-conducting synchronous motor.

A purpose of our research is an acquisition of cooperative behaviors in inhomogeneous multi-agent system. In this research, we used the fire panic problem as an experiment environment. In Fire panic problem a fire exists in the environment, and follows in each steps of agent's behavior, and this fire spreads within the constant law. The purpose of the agent is to reach the goal established without touching the fire, which exists in the environment. The fire heat up by a few steps, which exists in the environment. The fire has unsureness to the agent. The agent has to avoid a fire, which is spreading in environment. The acquisition of the behavior to reach it to the goal is required. In this paper, we observe how agents escape from the fire cooperating with other agents. For this problem, we propose a unique CMAC based Q-learning system for inhomogeneous multi-agent system.

A series of in vitro experiments was conducted to investigate response of rumen bacterial deamination to the ionophore salinomycin. Addition of salinomycin to the inoculum, strained rumen fluid, depressed ammonia production from casein, while increased accumulation of ${\alpha}$-amino acids. This suggests an inhibitory effect of salinomycin on ruminal deamination. When the effect in washed bacterial suspension was monitored with individual amino acid, aspartic acid degradation was markedly inhibited by salinomycin. This inhibition was not observed when the mixed rumen bacteria were ultrasonically disrupted and used as the enzyme source. Extent of the inhibition tended to be higher in the bacteria source from sheep on a high roughage diet. From these results it was speculated that the inhibition of deamination with salinomycin is caused by a decreased transport of amino acid into the bacterial cells as well as a decreased proportion of deaminating bacteria in the rumen.

We have been developing printed organic TFTs for flexible displays. In this study, we have pay attention to the operation stability improvement of the organic TFTs, and studied several factors especially depending on the dielectric layers. From the detailed analysis of the effects of dielectric layers, we have proposed a new printed dielectric layer which is mainly consisting of metal oxide and gives high operation stability

The inverted pendulum is a typical example of unstable systems and has been used for verification of designed control systems. It is also very popular in control education in laboratories, serving as a good example to show the utility of the state space approach to the controller design. This paper shows two kinds of experiment using inverted pendulum: one is the stabilization of a single spherical inverted pendulum by a plane manipulator using visual feedback, and the other is the state transfer control of a double pendulum. In the former experiment, the feedback stabilization using a CCD camera has major importance as an example of controller implementation with non-contact measurement. The latter involves the standard stabilizing regulation method and nonlinear control techniques. The details of the experimental systems, the control algorithms and the experimental results will be given.

In this thesis, from the results of settlement measurement performed at the site where embankment earthwork was carried out on the ground consisting of highly plastic and silty soft soils interlayered with organic deposits, various methods of predicting the embankment settlement such as Hoshino's method, Asaoka's method, hyperbolic method, ${\sqrt{s}}$ method and Monden's method were used to investigate their applicability and the inverse method of finding the soil parameter related to consolidation was used to predict the consolidation behavior in the future. It was confirmed that reliable prediction of consolidation behavior under various conditions could be done to estimate soil parameter related to consolidation such as the consolidation index and consolidation coefficient by the inverse method of comparing the measured settlement with the predicted value by the settlement prediction methods.

The present research has created and evaluated contents capable of work appreciation visitors changing their viewpoints on their will by introducing mobile exhibition exposition devices (iPad) for large exhibition museum. Various exposition contents of usually invisible parts or those provided in accordance with user positions drew visitors' attentions and improved museum experience satisfaction. Utilization of digitalized exhibition information generated activeness in viewing and new communication between exhibition and a visitor instead of the conventional exhibition exposition.

In every cancer early detection and early treatment is the best way to decrease mortality of patients. Moreover early detection of breast cancer increases the possibility of breast conservation treatment. Although mammography is the most powerful modality for early detection, it is hazardous to be used for young women due to X-ray exposure. Another modality of image diagnosis is ultrasound echo technique. But it is not so powerful to detect breast cancer compared to mammography. Palpation is another modality, but is largely dependent on the skill and experience of medical doctors. A new technique is tested its validity in phantom experiments with good results.

Carex taihokuensis Hayata (Cyperaceae) is reported from Jin-do (Isl.), SW Korea, for the first time. It belongs to sect. Digitatae, and had been known from Taiwan, China, and Japan. C. taihokuensis is characterized by the staminate terminal spike, bracts with sheath, pilose perigynia, and style base not thickened. We propose the new Korean name, 'Jin-do-sa-cho', after its first collecting place. We also provide a key to species in sect. Digitatae in Korea and Japan.

The ubiquitous presence of lactoferrin(LF) receptor in human as reported by the research group of Prof. Bo Lonnerdal, Univ. California (Suzuki, Y. A.,2001) encouraged us to search for the unknown physiological roles of Lf. Under the collaboration with Prof. Etsumori Harada, Tottori Univ., and his research group, we have found two novel biological activities of LF as the control of the lipid metabolism and the effect on the central nervous system. Relating to the lipid metabolism, LF could, in animal experiments, reduce triglyceride and total cholesterol both in blood and liver (Takeuchi, T et αl., 2003). LF increased plasms HDL-C and lowered LDL-C. In the central nervous system, LF showed anti-nociceptive activity mediated by ${\mu}$-opioid receptor in the rat spinal cord (Hayashida, K. et al., 2003). LF enhanced analgesic action of morphine synergistically via nitric oxide synthesis (Hayashida, K., et al., 2003) LF showed opioid-mediated suppressive effect on distress induced by maternal separation in rat pups (Takeuchi, T., et al., 2003).
