The TiO2 powder with the values of the large specific surface area more than 150$m^2$/g has been prepared with the homogeneous precipitation process below 5$0^{\circ}C$ and its formation mechanism was investigated using the SEM, TEM and Raman Spectroscopy. With the spontaneous hydrolysis of aqueous TiOCl2 solutions, all the precipitates were fully and homogeneously crystallized with the rutile TiO2 phase simply by heating, which as transformed to the anatase TiO2 phase as increasing the addition of SO42- ions to the aqueous TiOCl2 solution. The precipitates were formed with spherical secondary particles which consisted of acicular, spherical and mixed primary particles corresponding to the rutile, anatase and mixed phases, respectively. It can be thought that the formation and phase determination of crystalline TiO2 powders even at ambient temperature would be related with the existence of the capillary force. This force might be varied depending on the shape change of the primary particles.
For VBR video traffic, Motion-Picture Experts Group(MPEG) coding algorithm was adopted as the standard coding algorithm by International Telecommunication Union(ITU). In this paper, we propose a traffic model of an MPEG coded video traffic in frame level and cell level, and develop an approximate model for evaluating performance of a ATM multiplexer with homogeneous MPEG video sources by considering burst-level variation of aggregated traffics. For homogeneous MPEG video traffics which are frame-synchronized, the performance of the ATM multiplexer is influenced by source correlation at the multiplexing time. When sources are highly correlated, we decompose the aggregated cell streams by the frame-type and model multiplexing process during a frame time as n*D/D/1/K queueing model and suggest an approximate method for obtaining CLP of the ATM multiplexer. In the case that sources are highly correlated, the solution has the meaning of the upper bounds of performance of the ATM multiplexer. For the verification of our model, we compare the solution of our model with simulation resets. As the number of sources increases. The CLP obtained from our model approaches to simulation results, and gives upper bounds of simulation results.
This paper is concerned with a kind of non-homogeneous boundary value problems for singular second order differential systems with Laplacian operators. Using multiple fixed point theorems, sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of at least three solutions of this kind of boundary value problems are established. An example is presented to illustrate the main results.
The proportional hazards model (PHM) can be associated with a non- homogeneous Markov chain (NHMC) in the sense that sample alignments in the PHM correspond to trajectories of the NHMC. As a result the partial likelihood widely used for the PHM is a probabilistic function of the trajectories of the NHMC. In this paper, we show that, as the total number of subjects involved increases, the trajectories of the NHMC, i.e. sample alignments in the PHM, converges to the solution of an ordinary differential equation which, subsequently, characterizes the almost sure limit of the partial likelihood.
The present paper is concerned with the investigation of propagation of thermoelastic media, the finite difference technique is used to obtain the solution for the uncoupled dynamic thermoelastic stress problem in a non-homogeneous orthrotropc thick cylindrical shell. In implementing the method, the linear dynamic thermoelasticity equations are used with the appropriate boundary and initial conditions. Thermal shock stress becomes of significant magnitude due to stress wave propagation which is initiated at the boundaries by sudden thermal loading. Numerical results have been given and illustrated graphically in each case considered. The presented results indicate that the effect of inhomogeneity is very pronounced.
Based on linear elastic theory of quasicrystals, various equations and solutions for quasicrystal beams are deduced systematically and directly from plane problem of two-dimensional quasicrystals. Without employing ad hoc stress or deformation assumptions, the refined theory of beams is explicitly established from the general solution of quasicrystals and the Lur'e symbolic method. In the case of homogeneous boundary conditions, the exact equations and exact solutions for beams are derived, which consist of the fourth-order part and transcendental part. In the case of non-homogeneous boundary conditions, the exact governing differential equations and solutions under normal loadings only and shear loadings only are derived directly from the refined beam theory, respectively. In two illustrative examples of quasicrystal beams, it is shown that the exact or accurate analytical solutions can be obtained in use of the refined theory.

The traditional RAP (Redundancy Allocation Problem) of complex systems has considered only the redundancy of subsystem with homogeneous components. In this paper we extend it as a RAP of complex systems with heterogeneous components which is more flexible than the case of homogeneous components. We model this problem as a nonlinear integer programming problem, find its optimal solution by tabu search, and suggest an example of the efficient reliability design with heterogeneous components. In order to improve the quality of the solution of the tabu search, we suggest a modified tabu search to employ an adaptive procedure (1-opt or 2-opt exchange) to generate the efficient neighborhood solutions. Computational results show that our modified procedure obtains better solutions as the size of problem increases from 30 to 50, even though it requires rather more computing time. With some adjustment of the parameters of the proposed method, it can be applied to the optimal reliability designs of complex systems of ships.
