The solution of contact problems is extremely important as we encounter many situations involving such problems in our daily lives. One of the most important parameters effective in solving contact problems is the materials of the parts in contact. While it is relatively easy to solve the contact mechanics of the systems created with traditional materials with a homogeneous microstructure and mechanical distribution, it may be more difficult to solve the contact problem of new generation materials that do not show a homogeneous distribution. As a result of this situation, it is seen that studies on contact problems of materials that do not exhibit such a homogeneous internal structure and mechanical properties are extremely limited in the literature. In this context, in this study, analytical and numerical analyzes of a contact problem created using functionally graded materials were carried out and the results were evaluated mutually. It has been decided that the contact areas and contact pressures acquired from numerical method are reasonably appropriate with the results obtained from the analytical method.

The aim of this study is to examine the frictionless double receding contact problem for two functionally graded (FG) layers pressed with a uniformly distributed load and resting on a homogeneous half plane (HP) using analytical and numerical methods. The FG layers are made of a non-homogeneous material with an isotropic stress-strain law with exponentially varying properties. It is assumed that the contact at the FG layers and FG layer-HP interface is frictionless. The body force of the FG layers and homogeneous HP are ignored in the study. Firstly, an analytical solution for the contact problem has been realized using the theory of elasticity and the Fourier integral transform techniques. Then, the problem modeled and two-dimensional analysis was carried out by using the ANSYS package program based on FEM. Numerical results for contact lengths and contact pressures between FG layers and FG layer-HP were provided for various dimensionless quantities including material inhomogeneity, distributed load width, the shear module ratio, and the heights of the FG layers for both methods. The results obtained using FEM were compared with the results found using the analytical formulation. It was found that the results obtained from analytical formulation were in perfect agreement with the FEM study.
Activated oxidation catalysts are generated by the treatment of pentadentate Schiff base cobalt(Ⅱ) complexes with the oxygen saturated DMF solution. Oxidation of 2,6-di-tert-butylphenol by homogeneous oxidation catalysts of superoxo type pentadentate schiff base cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes yields 2,6-di-tert-butylbenzoquinone(BQ) as a major product. And $O_2$/Co mole ratio of homogeneous oxidative catalysts such as [Co(Ⅲ)(sal-DET)]$O_2$ and [Co(Ⅲ)(sal-DPT)]$O_2$by PVT method of the oxygen absorption in DMSO and pyridine solution was 1:1, 1:1.52 in DMF solution and ${\mu}$-peroxo type cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes formed at solid state. The redox reaction processes of superoxo type cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes as homogeneous oxidation catalysts were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and DPP method at a glassy carbon electrode. As a result of electrochemical measurements the reduction processes of oxygen adducted superoxo type cobalt(Ⅲ) complexes occurred to four steps including prewave of $O_2$-in 0.1M TEAP-DMSO and 0.1 M TEAP-Pyridine as supporting electrolyte solution.

Most of synthetic polymeric membranes used in ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis and microfiltration processes are prepared by phase inversion(or phase separation) technique. In this technique, a homogeneous polymer solution is cast into thin film or hollow fiber shape and then immersed into a nonsolvent coagulant bath. The exchange of solvent and nonsolvent across the interface between casting solution and coagu!ant can make the casting solution phase-separate and form a membrane with a symmetric or asymmetric structure. Because of importance of this technique in membrane field, many investigations have been dedicated to elucidate the mechanism of membrane formation by phase inversion technique.[1-10] These investigation have suggested that the structure formation and permeation properties of phase inversion membrane depend on the variables such as the nature and content of casting solution and coagulant, temperature of casting solution and coagulant, and the diffusional exchange rate of solvent and nonsolvent etc. which can be related to the thermodynamic and kinetic properties of the casting system. The variables such as the nature and content of casting solution can also be the important factor affecting the structure formation and permeation property of the phase inversion membrane.
The present study deals with the numerical modelling for the one dimensional contaminant transport through saturated homogeneous and stratified porous media using meshfree method. A numerical algorithm based on element free Galerkin method is developed. A one dimensional form of the advectivediffusive transport equation for homogeneous and stratified soil is considered for the analysis using irregular nodes. A Fortran program is developed to obtain numerical solution and the results are validated with the available results in the literature. A detailed parametric study is conducted to examine the effect of certain key parameters. Effect of change of dispersion, velocity, porosity, distribution coefficient and thickness of layer is studied on the concentration of the contaminant.

An attempt has been made in this study to evaluate an applicability of Relative Effective Porosity Model (REPM) as a method for estimating saturated hydraulic conductivity (K$_{s}$) for homogeneous coarse, medium, and fine sands. The saturated hydraulic conductivities obtained from REPM are converted into average linear velocities using Darcy's Law and compared with the results from experimental tracer tests for homogeneous coarse, medium, and fine sand layer. Two types of tracer tests analyses, analytical solution using CXTFIT and moment methods, are performed to obtain reasonable linear velocity range for each layer. For the coarse and medium sands, the converted average linear velocity from REPM is in the velocity range obtained from tracer tests. However, small difference between the results from REPM and tracer tests is found for the fine sands. These results show that REPM gives reasonable estimates of saturated hydraulic conductivity.y.
We show the existence of at least one nontrivial solution of the homogeneous mixed type nonlinear elliptic problem. Here mixed type nonlinearity means that the nonlinear part contain the jumping nonlinearity and the critical growth nonlinearity. We first investigate the sub-level sets of the corresponding functional in the Soboles space and the linking inequalities of the functional on the sub-level sets. We next investigate that the functional I satisfies the mountain pass geometry in the critical point theory. We obtain the result by the mountain pass method, the critical point theory and variational method.
The objective of the present paper is to investigate the bending and free vibration behavior of functionally graded material (FGM) sandwich rectangular plates using an efficient and simple higher order shear deformation theory. Unlike other theories, there are only four unknown functions involved, as compared to five in other shear deformation theories. The most interesting feature of this theory is that it does not require the shear correction factor. Two common types of FGM sandwich plates are considered, namely, the sandwich with the FGM facesheet and the homogeneous core and the sandwich with the homogeneous facesheet and the FGM core. The equation of motion for the FGM sandwich plates is obtained based on Hamilton's principle. The closed form solutions are obtained by using the Navier technique. A static and free vibration frequency is given for different material properties. The accuracy of the present solutions is verified by comparing the obtained results with the existing solutions.
In this paper, theoretical approach with applications of the periodic wave solutions in an elastic material is applied by study the effect of initial stress, and rotation, on the radial displacement and the corresponding stresses in non-homogeneous orthotropic material. An Analytical solution for the elastodynamic equation has obtained concerning the component of displacement. The variations of stresses and displacements have shown graphically. Comparisons with previously published results in the absence of initial stress, rotation and non-homogeneity have made. Finally, numerical results have given and illustrated graphically for each case considered.

Probabilistic approaches are applied to the problem of groundwater remediation design to consider the risk of design and heterogeneity of real condition. Hydraulic conductivity fields are generated by two methods. First, the homogeneous domains which have the hydraulic conductivity with log-normal distribution are constructed by using Latin Hypercube method. Second, random fields with a certain spatial correlation are also generated. The optimal solutions represented by cumulative distribution function (CDF) of relative cost are calculated by three different manners. The one uses the homogeneous domains with the optimal design of base condition. It shows that ver)'wide range of cost and the influences of different penalty values. The other one uses the random field with same design and shows narrow range of cost. These CDF can reflect on the risk of optimal solution in a simple exampie condition and be effective in estimating the cost of groundwater remediation.
