A Study on the Leisure Time of the Korean Elderly (한국 노인의 여가활동시간에 관한 연구)

  • The major purpose of this study is to examine how korean elderly people spend their leisure time in a day In order to do this, we analysed the time dairy which were collected through the national investigation made by Korea National Statistical Office in 1999 and executed the frequency analysis, the One-way ANOVA and the Duncan's post hoc test. Major findings are as follows; First, Korean elderly people spent their leisure time passively and negatively Especially, they spent their most leisure time watching TV. Second, Those who were male elderly people, had their spouses and their own cars, and lived in an urban area etc, spend their leisure time executing positive leisure activity such as self-development activity and sports activity.

  • As organizations have come to be more complex and diverse, management has come to spend an increasing proportion of its time and efforts in handling organization conflict. Moreover, organizational conflict problems are often not recognized until the balance of interests is destroyed or a radical organizational change such as BPR takes place. Once an organizational conflict arises, however, it reduces corporate synergy seriously, leading to organizational ineffectiveness. Therefore, it is important to identify the cause of organizational conflict in advance and resolve it based on the proper diagnosis as early as possible lest it should undermine the organizational effectiveness. We propose a method that facilitates diagnosing potential organizational conflict and determining appropriate strategy to the conflict, based on the analysis of cognitive maps. To support the application of the method in the real world context, a computerized tool is introduced. The working procedures of the method and the features of the tool are illustrated with their application to the real case of the cable TV home shopping company.

  • 현재 서비스되고 있는 홈네트워크는 가전기기들에 대한 홈오토메이션 서비스로서 웹이나 TV 등을 통한 메뉴선택 방식으로 제어되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 홈네트워크에 SMS를 통한 대화형 인터페이스를 도입함으로서 시간과 장소의 제약이 없는, 가전기기 제어를 가능하게 하였다. 대화형 인터페이스의 구현을 위해 홈네트워크 영역의 요구분석을 통하여 23개의 화행과 22개의 의미성분으로 이루어진 의미구조를 수립하였으며, WOZ(Wizard-of-OZ)방식으로 9만 6천 대화쌍을 수집하였다. 대화 처리를 위하여 예제기반 대화추론 및 응답생성 방법을 사용하였으며, SMS 영역에서의 성능향상을 위하여 전처리를 도입하였다. 구현된 서비스에 대한 성능평가 실험을 통해 사용자 만족도를 조사하였다.

  • 디지털 경제에서는 세계표준을 따르는 것이 선택이 아니라, 필수적인 것이다. 따라서 디지털 방송표준또한 필연적으로 준수되어져야 하는 규격인 것이다. 최근 방송환경이 매체별(지상파, 위성, 케이블)로 디지털방송으로 전환 중이거나 전환을 완료하여 서비스중에있다. 데이터방송 또한 매체별로 실험서비스 혹은 본방송이 진행중이다. 데이터방송은 디지털 방송에 양방향 서비스를 가늠하게 하는 개념으로서 국내의 지상파 데이터방송 표준 규격이 ATSC (Advanced Television Systems Committee)-DASE (DTV Application Software Environment), 위성의 경우 DVB MHP (Digital Video Broadcasting - Multimedia Home Platform), 케이블은 OpenCable-OCAP(OpenCable Common Application Platform)으로 결정되었다. 이와 같이 국내에서 채택하고있는 데이터방송 규격은 매체별로 서로다른 규격을 따르고있으며 규격 표준화 진행은 완료되었거나 진행중에 있다. 따라서 본 고에서는 지상파, 위성, 케이블 데이터방송 표준동향과 매체별 데이터방송 표준 규격에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.

  • In this paper, we discuss the schedule problems for Korean Professional Baseball League (KPBL) and propose approaches to solve these problems by applying Integer Programming. A schedule in a sport league must satisfy lots of constraints on timing such as organizational, attractiveness, and fairness requirements. Organizational requirements cover a set of rules which have to guarantee that all the games can be scheduled according to the regulations imposed by Korean Baseball Organization (KBO). Attractiveness requirements focus on what stadium visitors, television spectators, and the clubs expect, that is, a varied, eventful, and exciting season. Fairness requirements have to guarantee that no team is handicapped or favored in comparison with the others. In addition to finding a feasible schedule that meets all the constraints, the problem addressed in this paper has the additional complexity of having the objective of minimizing the travel costs and every team has the balancing number of the games in home. We formalize the KPBL problem into an optimization problem and adopt the concept of evolution strategy to solve it. Using the method proposed, it is efficient to find better results than approaches developed before.

A Study on Cosmetic Purchasing Behaviors among Female College Students in Cheongju Area (청주지역 여대생의 화장품 구매행동에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate cosmetic purchasing behaviors among female college students in Cheongju area. Three-hundred female college students who were attending universities in Cheongju area were selected. Questionnaire survey method and SPSS computer program were utilized. The findings of this study were as follow: First, 8.5% of monthly disposible money was spent for cosmetic and this amount of cosmetic expenditure was a little burden to female college students. Second, most female college students began to make up from freshmen or sophomore. And they were making up for self-satisfaction rather than showing off. Third, the purchasing behaviors of female college students were most affected by TV advertisements. Fourth, female college students thought that cosmetic is a necessity rather than luxury for them. And they were considering quality when they buy cosmetic first and price second. Fifth, female college students showed that rather low level of impulse purchasing behaviors.

Housewives Perception Degree on Saving Goods - In Seoul Area (저축상품에 대한 주부들의 인식도 - 서울 지방을 중심으로)

  • To survey the intensities of housewives perception on savings-goods and to suggest them some guiding direction for reasonable saving behavior, a total of 392 questionaires was distributed to housewives in Seoul. The data were analyzed in terms of frequency, percentage, x2-test, F-test and Pearson's Correlation. The Results were as follows; 1) Housewives awareness degree on savings-goods scored total average marks of 37/100 which was in the relatively low level. 2) Housewives interest degree on saving-goods scored total average marks of 70/100 which was in the fairly high level. 3) The correlation between awareness and interest degree on savings-goods was very highly significant. 4) The major information source of savings-goods was from pamphlet, TV, radio and newspaper, namely, public information. 5) Housewives perception of public information on savings-goods was very weak.

  • This paper presents a forecasting method for domestic demand of electric home appliances. Because of lack of data, some popular methods such as time series analysis may not be appropriate to forecast such a demand domestically. We suggest a systematic and practical method by considering structural parameters and variables which determine the actual demand. We use this model to forecast the demand of color TV. Since the parameters in our model may be variant according to the change of economic environment, our model leads the user to develop a dynamic model to be used in the well-known System Dynamics Approach.

Return Policies of Retailers in Korea: A Review by Store Format (패션상품의 유통업태별 반품정책 고찰)

  • This study examined return policies of the Korean retailers and their differences by retail format. Return policies of 363 retailers including dept stores, discount stores, brand consignment stores, small shops, outlet stores, TV home shopping companies, and internet shopping malls were collected. Acceptance of refund or/and exchange, return grace period, and return requirements or restrictions of each retailer were analyzed. The results showed that most retail formats except small shops and internet shopping malls allowed refund. The seven day return grace period was most common though large retail chains allowed more generous time frames and small shops allowed shorter dates. Restrictions for return varied by retailers and retail formats. Generally retailers followed the guidelines of consumer protection laws. The study discussed implications of return policy analysis.

Psychological Factors affecting Compulsive Buying Behavior on Fashion Products (패션제품 강박구매행동에 영향을 미치는 심리적 변인 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine factors affecting compulsive buying behavior purchasing behavior. Four hundred female college students who have purchased fashion products via Internet shopping or TV home shopping were surveyed. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, factor analysis, t-test, and multiple regression analysis were used. As the results, 16.3% of respondents were revealed as compulsive buyers. For materialism instrument, four factors of materialism were found and labeled as 'material'. 'consumption', 'happiness', and 'economic value' factors. Also, two factors of entertainment pursuit were also identified as 'change' and 'adventure' pursuit. There were statistically significant differences between compulsive buyers and non-compulsive buyers in terms of materialism, success, and change pursuit, self-esteem, compensation, impulsive purchasing, and binge eating. Compulsive consumption scores were correlated to higher materialism, compensatory, impulsive purchasing, binge eating, shifting, entertainment pursuit, and lower self-esteem. Also, results of multiple regression revealed that compensatory, binge eating, and happiness pursuit were significantly to related to compulsive buying.
