Wheels for passenger car support the car weight with tires. and they transmit rolling and braking power into the ground. Whittliing away at wheel weight is more effective to boost fuel economy that lighting vehicle body structure. A shape of hole in disk is optimized for minimizing the weight of steel wheel. Pro/ENGINEER program is used for formulating the design model. and ANSYS package is selected for analyzing the design model. It has difficulties 10 interface these commercial software directly. For combining both programs. response surface methodology is applied to construct approximation functions for maximum stresses and maximum displacements are obtained by full factorial design of five levels. This steel wheel is modeled in 14-inch diameter of rim. and wide parameter of hole in disk is only selected as design variable for reducing the weight of steel wheel. PLBA(Pshenichny·Lim-Belegundu_arora) algorithm. which uses the second-order information in the direction finding problem and uses the active set strategy. is used for solving optimization problems.

When vortex tubes are applied to enhance the coefficient of performance of refrigeration system, the smaller one is preferable. However, the existing vortex generator with a nozzle hole diameter of 0.5mm was not suitable due to chocking of the nozzle hole. Therefore, experimental investigation was made to find an appropriate geometry of vortex generator, which could give a comparable effect of energy separation to commercial ones without chocking problem. The tested vortex generators were tangential and spiral types, which had single inducing channel with larger cross-sectional area than that of conventional multi-hole ones. The experimental result showed that the performance of the spiral type was better than that of the tangential one. As a small size of spiral one, the diameter of cold-end orifice is proposed to an half of tube diameter for the application to refrigeration system, while cold mass fraction ratio is 0.5∼0.6 for a desirable operation.

Welded Unreinforced Flange-Welded Web (WUF-W) connection is one of Special Moment Frame (SMF) specified in ANSI/AISC-358. From the experimental test of WUF-W connection specimens conducted by the previous study, fracture occurred in the beam flange before achieving total inter-story drift angle of 0.04radian required for Special Moment Frames (SMF) system even though the specimens satisfied the design and detailing requirement specified in ANSI/AISC-358. These results are estimated as problem of the access hole geometry. In this study, a full-scale WUF-W connection specimen was made with a modified access hole geometry, and tested with the same test setting and loading as the previous test. From test results, the deformation capacity of the tested WUF-W connection specimen exceeded 4%, which is required for connections in SMF system. Comparing with the WUF-W specimens of the previous study, the strain demand of the beam flange in the tested specimen was decreased and energy dissipation capacity of the specimen was improved.

Cathode is an essential component used in plasma etching process which is to make micro pattern on the silicon wafer. The currently used cathodes produce particles at the high temperature plasma etching process. To overcome this problem, a 'Silicon Only Cathode' was developed. This 'Silicon Only Cathode' requires manufacturing process changes due to the change of shapes, material features, and machining characteristics of work materials. This research investigates the small hole drilling process. The conclusion is that PCD drills with twist angles of $20^{\circ}$ and $25^{\circ}$ were tested for small hole drilling and the experimental results indicate that the drill with $25^{\circ}$ twist angle drill causes less thrust force.
Chamferless peg-in-hole process of the cylindrical type parts using force/torque sensor and vision sensor is analyzed and simulated in this paper. Peg-in-hole process is classified to the normal mode (only position error) and tilted mode(position and orientation error). The tilted mode is sub-classified to the small and the big tilted mode according to the relative orientation error. Since the big tilted node happened very rare, most papers dealt with only the normal or the small tilted mode. But the most errors of the peg-in-hole process happened in the big tilted mode. This problem is analyzed and simulated in this paper using the force/torque sensor and vision senor. In the normal mode, fuzzy logic is introduced to combine the data of the force/torque sensor and vision sensor. Also the whole processing algorithms and simulations are presented.

Since blast-induced vibration may cause serious problem to the rock mass as well as the nearby structures, the prediction of blast-induced vibration and the stability evaluation must be performed before blasting activities. Dynamic analysis using measurement vibration waveform which is measured by bore hole blasting or test blasting has been increased recently in order to analyze the effect of the blast-induced vibration. The waveform made by bore hole blasting has the similar vibration level and duration to those the waveform of sing hole has. However, there can be a little difference in attenuation characteristics with the blast induced vibration waveform in the field. Through the superposition modeling of single hole waveform, I obtained the vibration waveform on the blasting condition changes and conducted dynamic analysis using this waveform in this study.

The strain distribution in the vicinity of a hole in a tensile strip was measured using an image correlation method. The objective of this study is to evaluate the capability of predicting the strain component response using a constitutive model that was developed for use with paper materials. The need for a special constitutive model for paper derives from the characteristics of pronounced anisotropy and the fact that the material behaves differently under compressive loading than it does under tensile loading. The results of the simulation showed that predictions of strain distribution around the hole were in agreement with the experimental result trends, however, the agreement deteriorated as the edge of the hole was reached. It was observed that there is extensive inelastic strain that takes place around the hole prior to failure of the tensile strip. The simulation results showed that any difference between tensile and compressive behavior that may exist for paper material does not have any significant effect for the problem of this study because the level of compressive stress is quite low in comparison with compressive failure values.
Generally, The way of long hole blasting is carried out in coal-face, basic excavation for dam, mine etc. Recently, this long hole blasting has been implemented in civil engineering for efficiency & economic feasibility. National express no.600 of Pusan outer high-express ${\bigcirc}$ construction site with four lanes of the length of 8km was also a site applied by long hole blasting. But After blasting, tunnel advance rate is less than 75%. As a result of that, Follow-up working time is influenced. Thereby, The total of working process is significantly so increased that planned excavation cannot be implemented many times. For not only improve excavation rate but reduce working process time in job site, we introduce blasting case which apply the ${\phi}36mm$ explosive suited for high desity of charging among long hole blasting in order to overcome mentioned problem.
Red ginsengs are inspected manually by examining those in the dark room with back light illumination. Manual inspection is often influenced by physical condition of inspectors. Sometimes. the best grade, heaven. has some inner holes though it was inspected by a specialist. In order to resolve this problem, this study was performed to develop image processing algorithm to detect the inner holes in the x-ray image of ginseng. Because of little gray value difference between background and ginseng in the image. simple thresholding method was not appropriate. Modified watershed algorithm was used to differentiate the inner holes from background and normal ginseng body. Inner hole edge region detected by watershed algorithm consists of many number of blobs including normal portions. With line profile analysis with scanning one line at a time beginning the starting point. it shelved two peaks both ends representing extracting each blobs. in which setting threshold value as of lower peak value enabled us to obtain inner hole image. Once this procedure has to be done till the finishing point it is completing inner hole detection for one blob. Thus. conducting ail blobs by this procedure is completing inner detection of one whole ginseng. Detection results of the inner holes fer various size of red ginsengs were good even though there was small detection variation. 6.2%. according to position of x-rat tube.

The fundamental theory and application of boundary element method for two-dimensional problem are introduced in this paper. Based on this boundary element procedure, several numerical calculations such as circular cavity problem, a thin plate with hole under tension and a long thick-walled cylinder under internal pressure are performed. The numerical results show fairly good agreement with exact solutions or results of finite element method.
