7층 적층구조 배면발광 청색 OLED의 발광 특성 연구 (A Study on the Bottom-Emitting Characteristics of Blue OLED with 7-Layer Laminated Structure)

  • 최근 많은 정보를 신속하게 전달하기위한 방법으로 디스플레이의 역할은 아주 중요하며 다양한 색을 자연색에 가깝게 재현하기 위한 연구가 진행 중이다. 특히 정확하고 풍부한 색을 표현하기 위한 방법으로 발광 구조에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 기술의 고도화, 디바이스의 소형화로 인해 작지만 높은 시인성과 에너지 소모에서 높은 효율을 가진 디스플레이의 필요성이 지속적으로 증가되고 있는 실정이다. OLED의 효율을 향상시키기 위해서는 운반자 주입의 향상, 전자와 정공이 수적인 균형을 이루며 효율적으로 재결합 할 수 있는 소자의 구조, 발광 효율이 큰 물질의 개발 등 OLED의 효율을 향상시키고자 하는 노력은 다방면에서 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 7층 적층구조 배면발광 청색 OLED 소자의 전기적 특성 및 광학적 특성을 분석하였다. 소자는 제작이 용이하며, 고효율 및 고휘도화가 가능한 Blue 발광물질인 4,4'-Bis(carbazol-9-yl)biphenyl : Ir(difppy)2(pic)를 사용하였다. OLED 소자 제작은 SUNICEL PLUS 200 시스템을 이용하여 5×10-8 Torr 이하의 고진공 상태에서 In-Situ 방식으로 증착하였다. Electron or Hole Injection Layer(EIL or HIL) Electron or Hole Transport Layer(ETL or HTL) 등이 추가된 5층 구조에 Electron or Hole Blocking Layer(EBL or HBL)을 추가한 7층 구조로 실험을 진행하였다. 제작한 소자의 전기적, 광학적 특성을 분석한 결과 EBL 층과 HBL층을 삽입하여 색의 확산을 방지한 소자는 색 순도가 우수하게 나타났다. 본 연구결과를 이용하여 청색 OLED 디스플레이 소자의 연구 개발 기초 및 실용화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

Development of Plate-type Fine Atomizing Nozzles for SI Engines with Intake-port Fuel Injection

  • This paper presents both experimental and numerical studies regarding nozzles used for the SI engine application, particularly for the intake-port fuel injection type. The atomization mechanism of the multi-hole plate nozzle was investigated experimentally. It was found that the nozzle design added turbulence into the liquid-film jet and the jet disintegrated rapidly. Based on the results, various plate types for the nozzle were developed and tested; six hole nozzle for liquid jet interaction, plate-type nozzle with flat duct channel, and the simpler structured nozzle. The spray characteristics of the prototype nozzles were examined experimentally while the internal flow of the nozzle was investigated computationally. It was shown that turbulent liquid-film was injected and atomization quality was improved by controlling the internal flow condition of the plate-type nozzle.

Enhanced hole injection by oxygen plasma treatment on Au electrode for bottom-contact pentacene organic thin-film transistors

  • Thin $AuO_x$ layer was formed by $O_2$ plasma treatment on Au electrode. The surface work function of plasma treatment showed higher by 0.5 eV than that of bare Au, reducing the hole injection barrier at the Au/pentacene interface. Using $O_2$ plasma-treated Au source-drain electrodes, the field-effect mobility of bottom-contact pentacene-OTFT was increased from 0.05 to 0.1 $cm^2/Vs$.

  • The ultra thin hole injection layer (HIL) was deposited on an indium-tin-oxide (ITO) anode by using an ion beam assisted d eposition (IBAD) for the fabrication of an polymeric electroluminescence device for the first time. The device with the HIL deposited by IBAD has higher external quantum efficiency than the device with the HIL by conventional thermal evaporation. It is found that the deposited HIL by IBAD has high surface coverage on ITO anode in a few nm regions because the HIL prepared has high adatom mobility by ion beam energy.

  • In this paper, the thermally evaporated molybdenum oxide $(MoO_x)$ is investigated as the effective hole-injection material for organic lightemitting devices (OLEDs). The use of $MoO_x$ significantly lowers the operating voltage of OLEDs, insensitive to the anode materials used.

  • We have investigated the effects of hole-injection buffer layer in organic light-emitting diodes using poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(stylenesulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS) in a device structure of $ITO/PEDOT:PSS/TPD/Alq_{3}/cathode$. Polymer PEDOT:PSS buffer layer was made by spin casting method. Current-voltage, luminance-voltage characteristics and efficiency of device were measured at room temperature with a variation of cathode materials; Al, LiF/Al, LiAl, and Ca/Al. The device with LiF/Al cathode shows an improvement of external quantum efficiency approximately by a factor of ten compared to that of Al cathode only device. Our observation shows that cathode is important in improving the efficiency of the organic light-emitting diodes.

  • Conductive polyaniline(PANI)-camphosulfonic acid (CSA) film applied as a hole injection layer in ITO/PANI/P3HT/LiF/Al device. In the AFM images, electrochemically polymerized PANI-CSA films have the small particles and smooth sufficient for application as hole injection layer. By insertion of PANI-CSA buffer layer, the turn on voltage of ITO/PANI/P3HT/LiF/Al device lowed by 3V, whereas that of ITO/P3HT/LiF/Al device shows 5V.

  • In the fabrication of inverted top-emitting organic light emitting diodes (ITOLEDs), the sputtering process is needed for deposition of transparent conducting oxide (TCO) as top anode. Energetic particle bombardment, however, changes the physical properties of underlying layers. In this study, we examined plasma process effects on tungsten oxide ($WO_3$) hole injection layer (HIL). From our results, we suggest the theoretical mechanism to explain the correlation between the physical property changes caused by plasma process on $WO_3$ HIL and degradation of device performances.

  • This paper describes investigations of the UHF(Ultra High Frequency) PD(Partial Discharge) measuring technology designed for monitoring of PD in high power apparatus. Based on the spiral antenna theory, the hole type sensor for GIS with metal flange spacer and injection type sensor for oil filled transformer are developed. The experimental results show measurement characteristics of the PD sensor for several artificial defects in gas-insulated system(GIS) and oil transformer. Moreover, we proposed the new $\phi$-f-q method for the purpose of condition assessment of high power apparatus.

  • Due to their better photosensitivity in X-ray, the amorphous selenium based photoreceptor is widely used on the X-ray conversion materials. It was possible to control the charge carrier transport of amorphous selenium by suitably alloying a-Se with other elements(e,g. As, Cl). The charge transport properties of amorphous Selenium is decided on hole which is induced from metal to selenium in metal-selenium junction and which is transferred in a-Se bulk. This phenomenon is resulted of changing electric field owing to increasing of space charge by deep trap of a-Se bulk. In this paper, We dopped the chlorine to compensate deep hole trap and deposited blocking layer using dielectric material to prevent from increasing space charge for injection charge between metal electrode and a-Se layer. We compared space charge and the decreasing of trap density through measuring dark and photo current.
